Leading with empathy is so important. Good points
Essential points!
So, a kind of Socratic dialogue.
It’s bizarre to me that you think everyone has one of those relatives. It’s a sad indictment on American education and culture.
American culture is a sewer
What’s a progressive spiritual belief?
I don't know but it usually involves not showering as much
Nihilism
I’m a Spinozist
@@dfggf9885how Christlike of you

o.O pastor of what... Christianity is Jesus end of story, all there is to discuss is Gods word.
My God is Spinoza’s god
@@MatauReviews Mine promises to reveal and make real himself to be personally known by any who seek him and to love you and bring you rest, Jesus.
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep I’ve heard of that one. Spinoza likes him too. So what? Just because you’re so certain you can’t even entertain or engage with another person’s faith or form of spirituality? Do you really lack curiosity that much?
@@MatauReviews Correct, truth is exclusive not all inclusive. We don't all have our own truth that is self refuting.
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep There is no transcendent creator God with which you have a relationship with. Sorry to burst your bubble. Even if my "god" is just a sexed-up atheism. My ethics are still normative. You are still just some high and mighty, self-righteous sneerer who probably hates Muslims, eastern religions, people trying to end wage exploitation. Whatever. I don't believe you
"progressive, spiritual" is a contradiction in terms.
No it very much isn’t. You lack imagination and empathy
@@thomasg627 no it isn’t. If you’re against human progress I just presume that you’re living in fear
@@MatauReviews Human progress .... let me see how we can describe that.
When I was born, 61 years ago well over 90% of Europe was religious, I was lucky enough to be in the first generation of a household where the parents didn't indoctrinate their children with religion, which is why today I'm one of the meanwhile over 50% atheists in western Europe.
In the young generation of the 15-20yr old today the numbers are approaching 90% atheists.
THAT is progress.
Afraid of that are only the ones who want to keep their spiritual beliefs however far distorted their belief is by now from the holy books, they are already able to predict that religion in Europe will die out in the next 100 years or so and that's why "progressive, spiritual" is a contradiction in terms.
@@thomasg627 My God is Spinoza's God. You have a severely stunted amount of imagination for other people's inner lives it seems. Just because my spirituality is a materialist one doesn't mean my God isn't greater
@@MatauReviews Spinoza? Seriously? The one who wrote "God is the infinite, necessarily existing (that is, self-caused), unique substance of the universe." which is next to identical of what Christians say about their god, only that he he uses the word "god" only in the beginning of the sentence and in the end uses "substance" instead?
Cmon man, latest since the multiverse became a theory there's nothing unique about the universe anymore.
