You have to take the Bible literally (except where it is explicitly *not* literal), and you cannot work off the assumption that there are any errors (as far as the message) in the text.
What you have said, in taking that position, is that you don't trust God. If you find that even one thing in the Bible is incorrect, the entire Bible becomes suspect. At that point God must either be fallible, a liar, or nonexistant.
In other words, you're not Christian. You just haven't followed your own logic to its inevitable conclusion. Yet somehow, you've been allowed to remain a pastor, and you're trying to deceive people into starting down the same path away from God that you're on.

I think there's more than a semantic difference between trust in God and trust in the people that wrote the books of the Bible. People are fallible and much the Bible isn't that old. Focus on inerrancy leads to fundamentalism and distracts from the message and lessons.
