    MAIDEN
(Excerpt from the song cycle, Lovescapes, by Johan Farjot and David Tepfer)
    Made in Botticelli, Leonardo mouth.
You are light, air, fair and flying.
    Maiden of siren sea dreams,
Eyes all seeing and hands all feeling.
But do you flee hairy monsters ?
Hidden fears, tears and frozen tundra ?
But no turmoil in your perfection.
No trauma to unfold hidden nightmares.
    Your future, untold, weighs lightly,
    Rightly unworried, your countenance,
    Catching light on perfect skin.
Calming spirit, help me believe and go on.
My future, told, weighs in measures
    Unknown to tellers of fortune,
    Defies all predictions, and
    Sits heavily on my chest.
The way is clear for you, my guide.
    Find the labyrinth’s path, choices,
Turns and returns to starting points.
I follow your lead, believe in you,
    And relish your maidenly beauty,
Fair skin and eyes so deep
    Oceans of blue green light
Birds in flight. Time and again.
    So, take the captain’s helm,
    And whisper your commands.
I’m mate, crew, mast and ballast
Your friend, lover and hairy monster.
