Nice review ,quick and covers everything. The only thing i hate about this laptop (and most notebooks) is the non numeric keyboard. I just can't live without it. Wished it came with an hdd built in. 256Gb is too limitating I would love to see the difference between the i5 & the i7. In specs, only the clock is different

i5 8GB should be good enough for photo and CAD editing But if you plan to run them all at the same time along with some chrome then the i7/16GB might be a better choice
Have you tried playing league of legends on this laptop? The laptop isn't able to last for more than 2 games. I haven't really tried playing other games though but this is worrying.
With these kind of things, at least personally when ever I buy something, if anything goes wrong down the line, like months or a year later, warranty is out of the question. Xiaomi is a big company, and they make solid products. I don't use mine as much as other people, but I do use it every now and then for testing. No problem & Hope this helps :)
@@purplefabian it's fast with many opened windows and the fingerprint unlock works really fast. The videogames work well too for medium user , not for a total gamer . I think it's a really good laptop for many uses.
it's about 500 grams lighter than the average gaming laptop, significantly thinner and thinner bezels than the average gaming laptop, and I'm pretty sure the charger isn't a BRICK like gaming laptops...actually it's CLOSER to being almost like a phone charger, so it's still a big difference, overall.. no?

All I can tell you is to check the device manager and see if the port is working fine. Maybe try another cable? Anyways sorry for bugging you and not being too helpful. Hope your problem gets fixed.
A lot of people complained about this problem, it seems that the hdmi only works with screens which have a higher resoltion than 1080p. I don't know how you can fix this (maby someone posted a fix on the internet) but you can always get a usb c dongle with an hdmi port. I have ordered the i7/16gb version and will chech if the hdmi port works properly on my laptop. Also, there is a possibility that my laptop will be the 2nd wave xiaomi has send out and if that is the case mine will have updated drivers for the ssd so it works on all 4 lanes and perhaps they fixed the hdmi as well. ps: the laptop will be delivered on thursday, i'll try to respond asap if the hdmi works.

16Gb is a waste of money as different tests have showed only little advances over 8Gb.
Depends on the task/game and the vram of the discrete gpu your system has. Plus its nice to know your device is futureproof.
