    What really annoys me is that some times after all this work , the prop or the shaft ends up at the bottom of the pond because of a breakage or something, no matter what one do to secure and tighten everything.

    I knew i wasnt going crazy! Haha. I picked up a sonic wake a month ago and decided to give sharpening and balancing a try last week after watching an older video of yours. Took the boat back out and also saw that it was riding higher out of the water and chine walking. I just couldnt believe that it was just from sharpening only and was thinking that maybe the boat was always riding high with a stock prop and i just didnt notice it. It does seem to unload the prop better and get on plane faster in the midrange throttle. Thanks

    Found that my recoil 2 is very capable with stock electronics, just used a venom 2200 4S as far forward as the tray lets it, and pointed my stinger all the way up, runs super cool on 4s, still very fast, and very stable

    Great video mate!! Can appreciate the work gone in to prep for this. I had a prang with my V2, bent the prop and straightened it, sharpened and balance, it seems to get similar speed to original shape but the boat cavitates like crazy to get on the plain, once it does it seems fine. So im thinking I’ll have to Big B bearing technique and introduce some cupping. May as well experiment with this not so good prop now and see what happens. Great video man, thank you for the huge effort! 👍🏻

    I have a full size boat prop shop and use a rawhide mallet bending and tuning they work great and don't mar the prop. you can find small rawhide mallets used for working with jewelry I think would work great instead of rubber.

    Excellent video big B !!! Love the testing with comparisons. Keep them coming and a suggestion, “servo performance” I feel that some times the force on the rudder over powers the servo, stock servos anyway, making my turning radius go wide. That is to say it’s not the grip of the hull in a turn just a week servo, so how much kg’s or oz/inch torque is needed for oh let’s say a blackjack 24 🤣😂🤣 Thanks

    The leading edge you do is not cupping, its called a ski-roll... cupping can be done a little on the tips , but mainly its for the trailing edge... if you pu ta ski roll it lowers the pitch , lets engine pick up rpm faster but will lose top speed. cupping the tips will add a bit of bite in the turns and raise front of the boat as it acts like added rake. it is not added rake but gives a similar effect thus helps lifting the bow.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  2 года назад

      Thanks for the information brother, I'm leaning... man I could definitely tell that the prop lifted the bow and increased low end take off. I'm glad you enlightened me! I didn't know if the increase in low end was from cupping the tips or the ski roll. I was really looking to achieve a higher top end speed, I think the ski roll may be loading the electronics a little to Much at higher rpm??? IdK

    Hey Big B... i hate to ask you a prop question but i have to since i don't know this one... i have a little 14'' mono which goes very nice all stock..I just want it to go faster..so i took a 31mm cf graupner which is same dia as stock plastic but way more pitch...just tested it ..lots of cavitation for first 10 feet give or take,but when she took off the speed was insane maybe 32 mph vs the stock 22 mph... the stock prop takes off great no cavitation..zero to 20 mph in no time.... anyway could i shave the cf pitchy prop down a bit and re balance it and get better out of the whole take offs...and still have good top end performance?? If not tell me what i should try next on this boat... i think its around a 3000 kv 12/10 brushless i use 2000mah 3s...lastly after 5 mins with the pitchy prop temps were cool jut like with the stock prop... thanks again...no big deal if you don't read this..

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  Год назад

      I wouldn't reduce the size of your graupner prop, it would make matters worse.. if you want better take off keep about the same pitch that's on the boat currently and increase the diameter of the prop. I'd imagine the stock prop is 1.4p 31mm or 32mm. Remember to check Temps after a prop change.

    • @roadstar499

      It might, but usually a modified prop will load the esc/motor more so than a stock prop. I've been trying to modify props for years I've been through about a dozen props. Maybe 2 out of the bunch gave me better performance. If you try the prop modifications just know that it may take several props to actually achieve what your looking to achieve.
