    Texas Tech has depth. They have talent. They have good coaching. They are gonna kill it! Their schedule is easier too. Texas Tech already won the Mike Leach bowl when they blew out Mike Leach and Mississippi State 2 years ago in the Liberty Bowl

      Excellent point on all of it! I guess this is the Leach Bowl 2.0!

    Good prediction. I say they get at least one of those games on the road . I say the ISU game maybe that tcu . 9-3

  • @raleighsanford5111
    @raleighsanford5111 Месяц назад +4

    We have a weak non con schedule because Oregon backed out. At Arizona is scary, but they have a new staff and all new D. At TCU will be tough, as we are their super bowl, but I'm not as worried about at ISU. We beat them last time with Tyler Shough on one of his bad days, Wyoming did, but not ISU. Winning in Stillwater is always tough. 8-4 is realistic, but Joey needs more than that this year.

    • @TheGridironExpert
      @TheGridironExpert  27 дней назад +1

      Idk if he needs more than that. It would be his 3rd straight winning season in his 3 years there. The last coach to have 3 straight winning seasons was Mike Leach. It would be their first 8 win regular season since 2009. Taking all of that into account, if 8-4 makes his seat warm, Lubbock needs to step back and re-think their expectations.

    • @raleighsanford5111

      @@TheGridironExpert We used to have the 8-4 discussion when Leach was here. I remember people saying 8-4 would be fine all summer of 2009 and I was crazy for saying 8-4 would be unacceptable, then we finished 8-4 and no one was happy. I also remember talking with Red Raiders how we used to take 7-5 with Spike, but with Mike, that was unacceptable.
      It isn't just Tech finishing 8-4, it other schools doing better than us and us wondering why we can't do that if they can.
      Sports relies on momentum and our recruiting momentum stalled. Coaching decisions aren't made with one season in mind, if the present isn't what is expected and the future is dimmer than expected, then people will start thinking.

    I don't see Tech losing to Arizona, TCU, and ISU. We'll win at least one of those games and if I had to bet on it I'd say we win two of the three. Tech has more talent than TCU and ISU and more overall depth and trench players than Arizona.

    Good analysis. I think you’re pretty spot on, but I think they win one of the TCU or ISU road games and finish 9-3. If they happen to get lucky and win both, they finish 10-2 with losses to Arizona and OSU. Don’t sleep on Micah Hudson, Caleb Douglas, and the trio of talented TE’s they have this year.

    @TheGridironExpert, how did your predictions turn out last year on all programs? Just curious.

    • @TheGridironExpert
      @TheGridironExpert  Месяц назад

      Hey Stephen! Great question. At the end of each year we do a full recap on our predictions and overall record for each game we predict.
      So in 2023, we went 423-96 (.815) on our picks for each team. We correctly predicted 27 team records and either correctly predicted or were off by just one game on 69 teams (this includes G5) which was 52% of the entire FBS!
      We also had another great year Against the Spread, going 112-73 (.605) in our CFB Expert Picks which once again beat out over 80% of the national handicappers for the 6th straight year.
      Hope this was helpful! Happy to have you on the team and as a part of our GE Nation!

      “Backed out” isn’t really what it is, they wanted to keep playing Oregon state and the realignment messed it up. They organized the games with wazzu to make it up to tech for now. But that game has been rescheduled to 2033.

    I agree with all of the games but except wazzu it's hard to win in Pullman

    Joey McGuire is really focused on winning away games this season. Ain’t no way we lose 4 straight away games.

    What a panzy schedule for the most irrelevant sports program in the nation!!! They should be so proud to win the best mid-major conference.

    I’m not buying Texas tech to win 9 games or more this season because they have not done that since the late Mike Leach was head coach. Not only that they disappointed last year with all that hype. At best I see 8-4. At worst I see 6-6 or 5-7.

    • @davidkirton9263
      @davidkirton9263 29 дней назад

      It’s hard to win 8+ games when you start 3 different QB’s every year due to injury. If Morton can stay healthy, 9-10 wins is possible. If not, it’s another 6-7 win season.
