Paul Rutherford was unreal at Dancing! And his "On our way home" part in the song was brilliant too. I also went to the same school as Paul and lived on the same estate growing up. 😎
Decada de 80 tinha 15 anos e ouvia e dançava Frankie Goes To Hollywood, banda inglesa incrivel, Holy Johnson grande artista e voz incrivel. amo suas musicas.
Played album #1 the most of the double album. 2nd album has some good songs, but the main album, kicks ASS!!! I saw them live, wore my "Frankie Says Relax" T-Shirt. Great concert. Still play the entire album at least every couple of weeks.
Yup, just by way of example watch the drums; you've got the guy staying on the high hat but we can hear a snare doing a 2 and 4 in the bar, and this is not even a particularly challenging drum riff to play either, which is a glaring example that it's complete bullshit as regards what you hear versus what you see. That bass riff is quite clearly a sampled and sequenced performance too. Don't get me wrong here, FGTH records are amazing, some of the best stuff ever recorded, but if anyone thinks any of these fuckers in 'the band' we saw on TV were actually playing that shit or even had anything remotely to do with its production either, they're sorely mistaken. Like the Buggles, FGTH was basically Yes (with the addition of some other personnel) with synths and a different vocalist. You can hear this a mile off if you listen to the label's other major signing at the time - Propaganda - on their A Secret Wish album - which has exactly the same kind of feel to it. These are absolutely fecking great records, there's no denying that, but how Welcome to the Pleasuredome sounds has fuck all to do with the bunch of scousers we all saw on Top of the Pops, because if it did, they would have been in demand all over the world as record producers.
Holly is a showman with a golden voice . When the band split the other band members tried replacing Holly's voice & came close but it just didnt work. The other guy didnt have the natural theatrics that Holy does .
Paul Rutherford doesn't get enough credit for basically inventing a new style of dancing back then. It was one of the unique pieces of the FGTH brand puzzle.
Crazy to think they only put out two albums?! I was more of a Duranie back then early to mid 80s, but FGTH did have a really great debut album for sure! This song alone the extended version is like the bomb; and never sounds dated when you listen to it!
This song is part of #OST #WW84...In the scene where Gal Gadot Varsano enters the party with a white dress and a cut between her legs ... that leaves the entrants breathless. It's at minute 41:08.
I still have this on VHS. That whole weekend of Montreux was fantastic on BBC2. Great upload... I don't need to wear out my cassette any further. Many thanks
In the studio version, the bass line is too far down in the mix. It was only when I saw the performance with Ryan Malloy at the Trevor Horn event that I realized just how good it really is. Sounds great here, too.
Yeah I was jamming this tune long version in car the other day I got a Boise system cranked it stopped at the red light there seven bars on all four corners and people were coming out and started dancing and this 2021 keep on trucking
Jim Ryan is great give both their due.. both very talented....you really cant compare...ryan has a different vocal range although similar ....but Ryan is younger than Holly
MR PAUL R. LOVE THE WAY HE DANCES. FIRST TIME I HEARD THIS SEVERAL OF MY GAY COUSINS AND THERE FRIENDS INVITE ME, AND MY WIFE. BEST PEOPLE. TREATED US LIKE FAMILY. ZODIAC CORPUS CHRISTI TX.
Love this song and I love Frankie ... but this so obviously the studio recording lip-synced by Holly Johnson. If I’d paid to be there I would have felt very ripped off. It’s a pity because they showed what was possible live in 2004 with Ryan Molloy at Wembley. If you have enough orchestration on stage you don’t need to fake it like this was
A masterpiece of music making.
62 Years old and this band kills it. I have been to over 300 concerts and I would give anything I have to see them at their peak.....
dont care what anyone says Holly was a brilliant singer vocalist - one in a million Outstanding
Brilliant with out a doubt so spirited !
Agree .. but this performance was lip synced ..
@@tifqureshi212 as most Top ot Pops performances were
But thats his voice
Great stage presents!
He was unbelievable
One of the bands. Music generation that will forever be iconic. Simply the best.
Growing up in 80s, that is exactly how we dressed and did our hair. What an awesome time to be alive.
I love this band. They are great in every way. Great music and great lyrics. Thank you Holly, Trevor and everyone who made this miracle possible.
Бесподобны!!! Моя молодость! Просто кайф!!! ❤❤❤
Perfect harmony between keyboards, guitars and bass, no one after them has managed to do it so well, unique!
u mean matched Trevor horns production...
Paul Rutherford was unreal at Dancing! And his "On our way home" part in the song was brilliant too.
I also went to the same school as Paul and lived on the same estate growing up. 😎
Love FGTH but can't look at anyone other than Paul. So handsome and what a mover.
Paul is still the Mover and main presents of the band even at 64 years old
My favourite FGTH track ❤
what a band at 59 years old I never stop listening to this song
Oh my god this band were amazing !!
New discovery for me and I'm gobsmacked !
They are legends

Lucky guy ,
Just brilliant. And, yes, Holly, so wonderful x
tho i'm 28 and was too young to know, this music is so huge.
Sounds so...don't know how to explain. So powerful and deep.So enjoyable.
These guys were absolutely massive in the mid-1980’s, kid.
Who listen now in the end of 2020???????????...Holly Jhonson...the best vocal in this band!!!
November 2021
Frankie goes to Hollywood rules.ll 👍👍👍
A come GRANDI ARTISTI .A quel tempo nemmeno loro erano consapevoli di esserlo. 😮❤

Gewoon werelds dit. Zo vreselijk goed.
This band is simply astonishing...amazing...
Saw them at the Greek in Hollywood in ‘85! Greatest show ever!!!
It was the greatest show I ever saw too! The whole theater was shaking cause everybody was jumping!
Holly Is like Freddy.
Unreplaceble
Epic!!
If that's being sung live I'm a Dutchman's uncle! Brilliant though, everything they done is superb. I miss the 80s..
It was very rare they sung live, unless they were doing one of their own gigs
No instruments plugged in. Album version without a doubt. Decent mining though!!
yeah, but quality miming for sure. If I didn't know the recording, I would have been convinced.
Sounds just like the record - very accurate! (LOL....!)

Brilliant FGTH !! They were just pure Greatness in every way !!
That bass line got me through a major teenage crisis
Grandi Frankie Goes To Holliwood e il loro leader Holly Johnson; questo pezzo poi è incredibilmente bello.
Great voice and songs!
Oh my...How old am I? Oh my.....................oh my....................
Fairplay they were great
Rediscovered FGTH while traveling the world solo this yr. Freaking fantastic. Halcyon days then....and now
Holly is a showman with a golden voice .

🇺🇸 PAUL, AND HOLLY. LOVE THIS SONG, THESE GUYS WOW, I LOVE THEIR STEPS JAMN ON IT. ENJOY THE RIDE
Paul Rutherford doesn't get enough credit for basically inventing a new style of dancing back then. It was one of the unique pieces of the FGTH brand puzzle.

Holly artista nato, artista in tutte le sue sfaccettature. Inimitabile FGTH leggendari. 🇮🇹 🙂

I still have this on VHS. That whole weekend of Montreux was fantastic on BBC2. Great upload... I don't need to wear out my cassette any further. Many thanks
I'm saving my Panasonic casette ,recorded from ERT2 Greece, as well . Nice to have it on RUclips !
This is Frankie!!!
What a line-up at that festival!
so great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The other version is the best song and video ever to appear on You Tube.
One of a Kind.
Frankie epitomized and in my opinion was the first legit eighties power band, all be it short lived. Scouse Power!
In the studio version, the bass line is too far down in the mix. It was only when I saw the performance with Ryan Malloy at the Trevor Horn event that I realized just how good it really is. Sounds great here, too.
80's bass players were fantastic. So many classic and memorable bass lines. Trevor Horn did a great job with this album.
Agree that bass line was a standout that night with Malloy. Whole reproduction was exceptional
Yeah I was jamming this tune long version in car the other day I got a Boise system cranked it stopped at the red light there seven bars on all four corners and people were coming out and started dancing and this 2021 keep on trucking
I have an Idaho system but it sounds like potatoes.
full play back :)
wisdom
@Jarrigar25
I was 11 when this came out and first heard the music after playing the FGTH computer game that was released by Ocean. The 80s were weird.

What year was this?Sorry to anybody who thinks Ryan Molloy beats this but I don't think so.Johnson would be my choice.
Album came out in the Fall of 1984, with "Relax" preceding it the summer before.
Jim Ryan is great give both their due.. both very talented....you really cant compare...ryan has a different vocal range although similar ....but Ryan is younger than Holly
18th March 1985
I disagree with you - Ryan was great. But don’t apologise for having an opinion

I miss the 80s
MR PAUL R. LOVE THE WAY HE DANCES. FIRST TIME I HEARD THIS SEVERAL OF MY GAY COUSINS AND THERE FRIENDS INVITE ME, AND MY WIFE. BEST PEOPLE. TREATED US LIKE FAMILY. ZODIAC CORPUS CHRISTI TX.

Totally agree

producing by trevor horn( the buggles)..
Woh woh
This is the pop music that i had as a teen in the 80's. I feel sorry for the kids today and the lazy monotonal cloned shit they have now.
❤
