  • I visit iconic London pub the Ten Bells on the corner of Commercial Street and Fournier Street in Spitalfields in the East End of London near Whitechapel. An amazing old London pub with an amazing interior both in the pub and upstairs bar. The pub has many connections to Jack the Ripper. Also with many reports of the pub being haunted I thought it perfect to visit for Halloween.

I did a Ripper Walks tour around 2000 and we stopped at The Ten Bells for a drink. I love London.

Jack the ripper almost certainly drank in the ten bells himself

Not necessarily, the number of pubs in the area in the 1880's was vastly more than today.
It's not 'almost certain' that he drank there, at best it's possible that he visited the place and had very likely that passed by and had spent a lot of time in the general area.

It's certainly possible. JTR must have at least seen this pub and maybe passed right by it, just as he would have seen and probably passed by that church building which was also there back then, that thought alone is a rather surreal one.

Very much like your short videos of London Pubs. For we Texans seeing and hearing about your equivalent ( sort of) to our old historical saloons is informative and interesting. I like visiting pubs when in London for their history and a fine ale. How about doing one on the Grenadier?

You should give pub tours for people coming to London. You could make some pounds doing this. Great videos.

That used to be a strip pub back in the early 90's, where the stripper's would could come round with a pint glass for collections. The whole of Commercial Street was a red light area in the evenings back then, crazy how it has become so gentrified, if only I'd bought some property there back in da day.

I walked past 'The Ten Bells' after a 'Jack the Ripper Tour' in 1999, and I took a photo of it. I wish I could visit London again. I like near Toronto, Canada. I really like your accent, I wish I had one. Isn't it in Spitalfields, where many bones of plague victims were found?

Thanks for sharing such moments, you should add the subtitles in every video because I believe that most of viewers are foreigners and we can learn English by the way.

I was in this upstairs bar called the white turkey and above this bar was an alcove. As I was sitting the small liviving , I definitely saw a black shadow cross in front of the living room. It caught my attention immediately . I asked the barmaid if there're were any unusual things going on here and I explained what I saw.. She confirmed that the place was haunted . I had no idea about this before I came here . so what I saw was indeed a human black shadow going by.

I may be wrong but being someone who comes from London and worked in that area when there was businesses around that area in the 70s before the place became all trendy wasn't that pub actually called The Jack the Ripper and it was named changed to the 10 Bells because some from the P. C. brigade said it was glorifying a murderer
    Note:P. C = Politically Correct

    • @michaelayres4167
      @michaelayres4167 6 лет назад +1

Yes it was called the Jack The Ripper for a time up until it went back to its original name the ten bells.

I was there 2 years ago and it 's true that it's haunted, I remember going in the upstairs room and I saw a man all in black passing in the the other part of the room and disappeared as fast as I saw him. I believe he was Jack the ripper and I sent him to hell if it was him.

"Sir Melville hunt the ghost of Jack the Ripper"
amazon ISBN: 9781980833925 give all the elements of the year 1888.
The first person who knew Jack the ripper was James Monro, the head of Scotland Yard at the end of 1888, replacing Charles Warren.
The book tells the story of Jack the Ripper by James Monro and his friend Sir Melville on the streets of London, but also "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" which is played on August 4 1888 at the Lyceum theater.
All the details come from the testimonies of times, and James Monro will refuse to deliver the truth to the English people, in spite of his “Highly private Memorandum” which he will keep secret until his death.
Sir Melville tried to give his truth in the book "Days of my years" chapter 4: "Laying the ghost of Jack the Ripper" in 1914.
But the well-informed Englishmen and in particular Scotland Yard have always refused to deliver the truth, despite the compromising pieces returned by the family of a Scotland Yard leader mentioned at the Dockland's Museum in London in 2008.
But who is this "cannibal" ambidextrous double face?
