    One of the best tutorials on setting up a repeater/extender. I set up an old wifi router in the living room to extend the signal from the main wifi router in the basement at the other end of the house. I wasn't able to connect from upstairs before and now I get full signal bars. Thanks.

      So explain something please. How do I get the router in the other room. That isthe part I dont understand. Wont it still be connected to the first router ?

    • @electronixTech
      @electronixTech 3 года назад +6

      @@debbiegroves2649 So you have to set up the second router in repeater bridge mode through the router settings. It has to have the same ssid name and encryption key the main router has but you set up the second repeater router with a different ip address than the main router. You connect from your repeater router to your main router through the settings page. Your repeater router will be closer to your computer with a strong signal so your computer's wifi will connect to the repeater router rather than try to connect to the weak signal from the main router. The closer repeater router will act as a bridge to your main router.

    • @SL7Tech
      @SL7Tech  3 года назад +2

      Yes you can set the password once internet connection is established.
      It will not decrease the speed of your internet on your main router, but the second router won't give you the full speed.
      For full speed, you need to use a Ethernet cable to connect the routers. I have a video on that.

      If the 'WDS Bridge' option is not there then you will not be able to do it wirelessly.

    I know this is an old video but once you connect the second router, will you be able to use an Ethernet from the second router to your computer ? Even tho you won’t get the full speed from your main router ?

    I've a Genexis platinum 4410 which is connected to Optical fibre. For internet I connect to my Genexis WIFI. So what I need is receive this WIFI in my Netgear D500 router and extend the WIFI. I tried following these steps but I don't have a WDS setting in the Genexis. Please help me.

      Well in that case I don't think you can make a wireless repeater. I recommend you to try out the wired option, I have a video on that.
