Thanks for your reaction! Voice Play had a very eventful string of events this past fall: Geoff and his family sick with COVID right after school started, their two shows in NJ singing with legendary band 'Chicago' and preparation for it, birth of Eli's son, and their camera person moved out of town and replacement not found right away during the holidays. They told their patrons that they would only be able to do minis for month of December. They released "Jingle Bell Rock/Mean Girls and Layne got carried away putting more into it than a mini (former baritone singer, Tony Wakim, that owns PattyCake Productions with Layne came to the rescue and helped with costumes, choreography, and filmed with camera from his phone.) This was also a Layne arrangement released New Year's Eve intended to be a mini but Layne again went the extra mile with this. J None's high range was very impressive here as he is currently singing Bass with his Navy band (J None's range and ability to arrange music, beatbox, and rap are really show cased on his solo channel which you may want to check out). Cesar is their baritone singer but his whistle notes here were amazing! This was filmed at the Oviedo mall (outside Orlando Florida) where their PattyCake Productions is located and most of their minis/shorts are done. You may want to click on "shorts" on their channel to check out more of their minis- very raw acapella compared to their big production covers but so much fun and really showcases unexpected talent from Cesar, Omar, J None and other featured guests (You will love "Baby On Board" featuring Eli's newborn son, "Chili's Baby Back Ribs" and "Peaches" just to name a few).
That's definitely a lot that the group, as a whole, was going through. But when they return, they return strong! I appreciate the recommendations!
I think the main reason this was a vertical format was because their usual cameraperson moved out of state. This meant not just shooting it themselves, but also shooting with their iPhone. That in itself doesn't mean keeping to the vertical format since they filmed the Christmas video on an iPhone, too. However, for that one Tony (Layne's business partner at PattyCake and former VP Baritone) did the filming. Here, the iPhone had to be mounted since none of them could actually hold the iPhone to film AND be in the shot. They have in the past done a short where they each filmed themselves individually 'selfie-style', but they wanted everyone together for this one.

And to think the US Navy promoted J None to bass this year. Cesar had 2 new notes in this - C6 and D6. It started out as a short but Layne thought they were having too much fun to cut it off short. The studio's camera man had left the job so they just did it on the phone and outside the studio. I loved this - it brought back so many memories. I got a kick out of their space shanty when they did Sleeping in the Cold Below. I'm a sci-fi fan and loved the studio they found for the background/floor. I also woke up every day for 3 weeks with that song running through my head. Still can't get enough of Nothing Else Matters, In the Air Tonight and Hellfire.
My favourite transition in this is the one in the middle of the "dad dancing". The one and only time it's not one of them obscuring the camera with their hand.

Great Reaction for this one! I love they had so much fun with this one. Not sure if you knew this, but J. None currently sings Bass for the Navy so to hear him hit those notes was fun to hear. If you want to hear them do a great Barbershop quartet, you should check out their covers of Baby on Board, When you Wish Upon A Star, and Part of Your World. They are all Minis but worth checking out.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I also appreciate the suggestions. I didn't know J. None sings bass for the Navy! Such an amazing range to be able to sing consistent tenor like he does, and then to be able to hit the bass sound.
I would say if you contract to any of their minis do it through their Instagram or Facebook pages not RUclips or TikTok as they both cut the videos off at 1 minute and you miss out on some hugely impressive/important bits.

This was such fun. Love the CGI. JNone has a fantastic voice and Caesar's whistle notes are stellar. I think this one was going to be one of their shorts but they had so much fun they just expanded it. I have really been playing the Bass Gang featuring Ekaterina Shelehova cover of if I had a heart. This one will blow you away. The visuals are stunning and the vocals are out of this world

VoicePlay's harmonies and backup vocals highlight the lead vocals beautifully. And Cesar and J brought it!

This one is such pure fun! And it's also great to have VioLayne back! I love it when the guys are dancing, I really cannot get enough of Cesar twerking...It's vertical, I think, because it was supposed to be a short, but Layne went with it and made it a full song. Also, I think the CGI probably looks better with a smaller frame? Maybe?
The CGI, in my opinion, would probably look a little better with full frame. But consider there was a lot of it happening, it was more noticeable to the eye with a vertical frame (1080p x1920p).
@@JeffreyHackReacts YEs, that's what I meant. There were less distractions from them. And I now they do a lot of their shorts there, and it allows one to focus on what's in the shot.

Very cool! The music video definitely showed that they were having a blast. Especially with their funny dances.

Almost hard to believe that J is singing bass for the navy's Sea Chanters. :) This started out as a mini, but Layne got carried away having fun with the graphics so just extended it into a full video.

Hey Jeff, I enjoyed this. I also enjoyed Voiceplay's version of the song and their video. It is close to the original, which was performed by the Tokens and was played a lot when I was a kid.
As far as what I've been listening to lately is Linda Ronstadt. There seems to be a lot if interest reacting to her music lately. I've been listening to tracks off her trio of albums she recorded with bandleader/arraigner Nelson Riddle. Linda Ronstadt has a very diverse history of music genre including rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin music.
