The best interpretation I've ever heard
As someone who has been listening to Swan, on and off, for 20 years, this version hits me as hard as the first time I ever heard it.
I will take a look at your other videos, and pray to the music gods that you cover Bruckner...
Never heard before: I listened and abstracted myself from my orchestral memory of decades... Conclusion I like it! It takes me 100% on the journey Sibelius wanted us to go... Congratulations. Johan, Antwerp.
Wow, brilliant! One of my favourite non-piano pieces. The pp tremolos emulating the strings, totally convincing!
Wow, that was great ! One of my favorite pieces of music. I didn't think it was possible to transcribe for piano. Just downloaded the score from IMSLP.
Beautiful. Sibelius would probably have loved the new pedal - after all he was constantly writing pedals for orchestra!
sibelius's original version was devastating enough, why did you have to go on and kill me once more?
If you get killed, you get a chance to see Tuonela's swan with your own eyes.
Wonderfull I love that interpretation on piano as well as the symphonic masterpiece!❤Thank you
Of great beauty, and read (played) with great heart.
Beautifully performed
Very cool piece. I don't listen to Sibelius much at all, but after listening to a few pieces you posted, I am quite intrigued to find more.
What a stunning piece. Great performance as always.
I enjoyed both and I now have a new composer to listen to. Thank you for the recommendations.
Another great piece by Sib. and you of course, give it great justice ..as allways!!!:)
Thomas
Wow…simply beautiful! I enjoyed music and your playing very much!
This is godly.
So beautiful playing, fantastic Paul!
Top-notch playing, congratulations. Also the special instrument adds a mysterious shimmer to Taubmann's matter-of-fact arrangement. But I find the full resonance a bit much at times. Perhaps they will develop the mechanism to allow for gradations of resonance.
You are absolutely AMAZING!!
The fourth pedal brings indeed an orchestral background sound to the piano, while not taking away the piano attack. A little bit of muddy dizziness is notable, though, when the harmonics are blended together, "leaking" over from one harmony to another, which is not so pleasant. It sounds like careless pedal work. Otherwise the overtone rich sound is marvelous in this frame of reference!
Que magnífica interpretação !!
Merci Paul pour ce très beau partage... Bien amicalement.
Magnífica interpretación, muy sugerente. Gracias por sus enlaces a las partituras.
Outstanding performance !!!
This is great!!
Wowww, Bravo!
Biutifuuul!!!
Tremendous
I haven't heard you play this one for the elephants !!!
Paul, would it be possible for you to include a difficulty rating on the pieces you upload?
iampauleybaby I would also find that helpful.
The piano sounds absolutely AMAZING too, and I LOVE the white background! Is this your piano, is this your room? How did you do this? It's so wonderful to just have the piano, and you.....the music needs to be the only thing that colors the room!! Love it!! EVERYTHING!
These were good questions. Too bad he did not reply.
This may be out of your repertoire, but could you consider doing a tutorial on Scriabin Etude op 8 no.12 or his Etude op. 2 no. 1 Etude.
Thanks so much.
now even classical composers spam their content in the YT comments section
I love the piece for its own sake but it will also always remind me of the game Folklore.
Vry nice waching Barca v Vigo wih announcer off....
Quite a haunting song
Why Sibelus is so unknown ?
He isn't really unknown in Finland.
Besides, who cares if he is famous or not. His music is timeless. He is timeless. He is immortal.
Well, he ain't really. His violin concerto is among the most recorded in the world. Some of his symphonies are firmly established in the orchestra repertoire of the western music world.
Stupéfait
Very nice sound, but sorry, not rhytmically correct (problem with 9/4?)
No no no, how can one imitate the cor anglais on the piano, no don't like
