@Martin Oguzie my biggest frustration is that I blink a lot so when I try to put my contacts lenses on, my eye 👁 just close and it’s hard to put it on.
When the lens flips so many times that I can’t tell if it’s inside out or not. I know what shape to look for but they look the same either way. I’ve only worn my contacts once.
Dude, you saved my ass. I just spent an hour trying to shove the contact in my right eye. One bloodshot eye and so much irritation later, I gave up, put my glasses on, and laid down pretty sad. Came across this video desperately trying to save my potential to be glasses-less. 5 minutes later, both contacts were in. Tip #1 is gold, no one explained it like that to me. This video is gold. Thank you!

Thank you so much!! What a difference your tutorial and explanation has made. Over the last 6 months I have struggled, if I couldn't get this right by the time I came to the end of the box of contacts I was going to quit. Not anymore ❤.
Definitely making enough room for my contact lenses is the hardest part for me, my eyes get watery, and it is hard to control my eyelids, thanks for the video, it gives some really nice tips
My eye doctor didn't tell me anything about how to do contacts. No tips for taking out/putting in. No rundown on cleaning/handling. He didn't even tell me I would need to buy solution. Basically, just took my money and gave me the boxes. I'm so thankful to RUclips optometrists like you for providing this crucial information. Thank you!
Thanks for the tips. I just purchased contact lenses and I was trying to wear them. After hundreds of attempts I was able to wear the right one. But my eyes were extremely red by then. I realised now that I wasn't making enough room and my eyelashes were pushing the contacts. I am going to try them again today. Edit : And am writing this comment while wearing the lenses!
WOW! I can’t believe this was the simple answers. I have been struggling with contacts for a while. I got them 2 months ago with my daughter. I just turned 60, she 21. It was our birthday gift to ourselves. While I struggled, my daughter would say I might be too old. That intimidated me into just giving up. After some time, I wanted to try again. I struggled today for about an hour. So I Google searched for a video and I magically landed on yours. After watching your video, I put on my right lens first try. After 3 attempts on my left one, i finally got it! Thank you very much for your help. You gave me the confidence to do this! The 3 key issues you pointed out were spot on! The game changer for me was turning my head. Thank you again. 😊🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
this video is the best video i’ve see on putting in contacts for beginners. i’ve been trying to get my contacts in for days and this video showed me i wasn’t holding up my eyelashes, i got both contacts in 15 minutes. for a first time i think that’s pretty good. thank you so much!
I have really sensitive eyes and I honestly never thought that I would even try using contact lenses. But here I am, and honestly they have made my life a lot easier already as I move around a lot. Plus wearing a mask is more comfortable with contact lenses. Your videos helped me a lot! I had hard time figuring out how to get the lenses in for the first time. And once I did, it was a lot easier the 2nd time. So, thank you!
I rarely comment on videos, but I had to post on here to thank you. I just spent the past 3 hours struggling ( and failing) to put in contacts for the first time. I found this video and I put both contacts in in about 30 seconds. I cannot thank you enough!
Thank you!!! I usually spend at least an hour or so trying to get contacts into my eyes - irritating them so much. I watched your video and got them in first time. FIRST TIME!!! Thank you so much - this video is very much appreciated ♥
Aaaaa your tip about not using much force and relaxing your eyelids helped me so much, thank you!!! I spent half an hour trying to get the damn things in, gave up, walked around basically blind for 3 hours, tried again and got them in almost instantly.
Thank you so much. I have tried for months but could not get them in. I didn’t know that the spacing was the reason that the lens would go back on my finger. I was able to put them on in time for my senior night for soccer. I had previously been playing with bad vision so it helped a lot. We won 11-1. Thank you again man for what you’ve done.
Best tutorial for me! I was highly motivated to get contacts but then struggled with every single issue mentioned in this video. Finding this totally saved me and made the experience much easier.
I first tried a bike at 25 and fell bad. Tried when I was 31 and got good at it. Not ridden in years but I know I can ride when I pick up a bike. Contacts are a different ball game, though.
imma be front, i just hit subscribe out of respect, cuz you gave me back hope. not probably gonna watch other videos but you deserve the subscription :)
I’m not even joking this video helped me insert both my lenses in like 2 min. At first it was taking me more than 20 minutes to put in my contacts. I had to take a pause and watch a video to find tips. The second tip helped so much. I found out that I had a hard time seeing the lens was making contact with my eye. So i would just reactively blink if my finger got anywhere close. Angling my head helped me feel more at ease because I could see the actual edge of the lens touch my eye. Thank you so much Martin!!
Thank you 🙏🏽. Everyone knows how you’re supposed to get them in, but not many people know where they’re going wrong attempting to get them in… that’s what I tried to cover.
I have seen a few videos for new contact wearers but was still having problems. I was about to give up when I came around this video. Your simple steps not only worked but gave me hope that I can do this (every time.) Thank you! 😍

Omg I did it thank you 😭 I’ve avoided contacts for so long even when I want to wear them because it wakes me 30-60 minutes to do it for both eyes. Grabbing the eyelashes and moving my head rather than my eyes to adjust the lens did the trick!
THANK YOU!!!! Your is the only video I've seen that mentioned the eyelashes as the problem. For the first time I was able to put my lenses on in under 10 minutes!
thankkkk you! after wearing glasses for years i’m transitioning to contacts. i understand how to but i was just not making enough space nor was i close enough to see the edges of the lens. invested in a large tri fold mirror and opened my lids once my eyes were relaxed. went in very easily after two- three attempts. i think the blinking will lessen over the months.
Just take your time. Frustration only makes matters worse. Go through each step in the video slowly and try to focus in the fix outlined. Don’t give up.
Dr Martin, great video and instruction. For about a week I have been off-and-on trying to get my contact in, with virtually no luck. I am using only 1 to have a near sighted eye for running and cycling in order to see my watch. Ran across this video, watched it a couple times, practiced a couple times and then easily placed the contact in. I will watch the video again tomorrow, and then put in the contact again. To your 'muscle memory' and 'vision memory' references, nice job explaining how (proper!) practice makes perfect.
Making enough room for the lenses for sure. I have hooded eyes and long lashes, so it is incredibly hard sometimes to get them in. Wow, I’ve been having a hard time but literally after this video, I was able to get it in second try. A lot of the videos I’ve seen didnt say that you just have to hold it near your eye and it’ll go on. I’ve been pressing it to my eye this whole time and it wasn’t working out.
i'm going on year 2 of trying to get contacts in. i'm hoping this helps! it seems like these are good tips!!! cant wait to try at my next eye doctor appointment
I find that the biggest mistake that I used to make in the beginning was to not properly make sure to keep my eyelids and fingers dry. Holding your eyelids open can cause you to tear up, sometimes leading to your fingers getting wet. Once they are wet, it is basically impossible to pull the eyelids far enough apart to put in the lens.
Thank you!! This video was the most helpful of all videos I’ve watched! I struggle with my lashes and eyelid freaking out as I’m inserting but your video really helped!!! Especially using the mirror as a tool and where exactly to position the lens on my finger. ☺️🙏
Thank you so much. I watched the entire video and I got my contact lens in on the first try using your tips. You saved me so much time and frustration. Also, I love the funny faces in the videos where you are putting in your contacts.
My technique for insertion and removal is very different and advanced…. I don’t lift my top lid, only my bottom lid and I do it one finger. Takes about 1 min each eye. Don’t give up, it takes practice. Looking straight on in a mirror and taking it slowly, after a while you won’t flinch as much and touching your cornea becomes normal.
Pretty much everything youve said in this video. If I happen to do something correctly, I fail at some other thing out of these 3. But only for right eye. For my left, I usually do this in the first attempt.
Great video. My eye was blood shot red and sore from trying 10000xs lol first time contact lenses. My biggest problem is my eye lids blink and I can't seem to hold them shut. I think its all in my head and I need to get used to touching my eye. Which is so unnatural for me
thanks for the video! to answer ur question it’s the fact that i have to touch my eye, it just grosses me out to the point i can’t even get close enough to try to put the contact in! how do i stop this??
My biggest issue is touching my eye. I've always had issues with even water getting in my eye, I have a hard blink reflex bc for some reason I despise things in my eyes.
@@Rozhena. okay so i figured it out something easy you can do is pull down the bottom of ur eye and put the contact like kinda in the lower part of ur eye and it’ll go in easier obviously u still need to not blink but in my opinion it’s less scary also just keep trying that’s what i did and i figured it out!
@@i_likefoodyum yes i’ve been trying to do that but i js blind and getting annoying and i have school tmr idk what to do at this point but tysm for ur help!
@@Rozhena. ohh idk maybe try holding ur eye open better and not letting go but keep trying i was so frustrated and i thought i was never going to be able to do it but i kept trying and i finally did it so keep trying good luck!
Got em in in less than 5 minutes… normally takes me 30 minutes! I would tear up so bad, I couldn’t grip the eyelashes any longer. The turning the head bit is the game changer.
I'm new to this but I got the hang of it though. My issue is determining whether or not the contract is inside out. And then too I see much clearer with my glasses than the contracts. But it's only 2 weeks.
Thank you for the video and tips. You’ve explained it much more in depth than the Dr’s office did. My biggest issue other than removing them is how do you get the contact lense to release from your finger? It seems to want to stick to my fingertip?
The trick is to keep the contact point between your finger and the lens dryer than the contact there will be between the lens and when it touches your eye. That way when the lens touches your eye it will be more attracted to your eye than your finger. The best way to do this is to dry your fingers by rubbing your thumb and index finger together a few times before you put the lens on it. You want your index finger to be damp not wet. I hope this helps you. Thanks for watching my video 🙏🏽
Q: When it comes
to getting your contact lenses in, what's your biggest frustration?
@Martin Oguzie my biggest frustration is that I blink a lot so when I try to put my contacts lenses on, my eye 👁 just close and it’s hard to put it on.
I have the same problem blinking too much. And not being able to look straight as I'm putting it in.To make it worse it's hard to see up close.

If I happen to do something correctly, I fail at some other thing out of these 3. But only for right eye. For my left, I usually do this in the first attempt.
🙏🏽
Thank you thank you and most of all your information and details allow me to relax enough to do it
Great video. My eye was blood shot red and sore from trying 10000xs lol first time contact lenses.
My biggest problem is my eye lids blink and I can't seem to hold them shut. I think its all in my head and I need to get used to touching my eye. Which is so unnatural for me
Yes it really works thank you bro Martin..
Awesome!
thanks for the video! to answer ur question it’s the fact that i have to touch my eye, it just grosses me out to the point i can’t even get close enough to try to put the contact in! how do i stop this??
my first few days with contacts i realized the eyelash problem. im so glad i realized i needed to lift the lashes as soon as i did
Being closer to the mirror (bought a mirror for on the table cause in the bathroom I am too far away) will surely help and seeing it well.
This was super helpful. Thanks!
Thank you.
This was explained so well. I wish I had seen this a week ago. Excellent advice. Thank You!!
This worked! Thank you. Now tell me you have a video for removing them!
I do have one that is 3 fixes to removing your lenses! I have another coming soon too.
Thank you.
My biggest issue is touching my eye. I've always had issues with even water getting in my eye, I have a hard blink reflex bc for some reason I despise things in my eyes.
did u ever find something to help u bc this is my issue
@@i_likefoodyumbro fr if u had something that helped hard blink reflex pls replay and tell me
@@Rozhena. okay so i figured it out something easy you can do is pull down the bottom of ur eye and put the contact like kinda in the lower part of ur eye and it’ll go in easier obviously u still need to not blink but in my opinion it’s less scary also just keep trying that’s what i did and i figured it out!
@@i_likefoodyum yes i’ve been trying to do that but i js blind and getting annoying and i have school tmr idk what to do at this point but tysm for ur help!
@@Rozhena. ohh idk maybe try holding ur eye open better and not letting go but keep trying i was so frustrated and i thought i was never going to be able to do it but i kept
trying and i finally did it so keep trying good luck!
Thanks! It worked!
Awesome 🙏🏽
Tysm!!!
Thanks to this video!!! I could finally dab it in...🤗🤗
Got em in in less than 5 minutes… normally takes me 30 minutes! I would tear up so bad, I couldn’t grip the eyelashes any longer. The turning the head bit is the game changer.
OMG!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
🙏🏽
This is helpful. Thank you.
Thank you so much xxx
Impressive 🙌
This was so helpful!!!!
I’m so glad 🙏🏽
Very helpful video, thanks!
Great tips, great guy, thanks
@@meyetips ok thank you I’ll give that a try I thought the lens was sticking to my finger because it was too dry.
This was way more information packed than the other four videos I watched before this one. Thanks
