I totally agree with you. I remember thinking to myself as I was transcribing this piece that some of the character of the original piece would inevitably be lost because of the inability of the piano to do vibrato and slides. However, where the piano falls short, it more than makes up for it with its many other virtues. Ironical as it may seem, although I am a pianist, my favorite instrument will always be the violin.
Any chance I could get this score off you? And you have the original score for violin and piano? I can't find it anywhere! Well done on the arrangement.
