Black women saw right through him season 1, and I was not surprised by his behavior season 2. He clearly does not respect women he is not attracted to. Even on a platonic level, he treats black women completely differently than other women. In season 1 he interacted with them as if they were aliens. This season he showed disdain for Tolu after he tired of pretending to be attracted to her even though she did nothing wrong. His actions disgust me.

I'm white and have been confused all of season 1 why everyone loved dom. He's literally exactly like Harry except a liar. He's also always treated black women like they don't matter or idk it's given me a weird ass vibe always. At least Harry is like heyyyy this is who I am. Dom has been pretending to be sine "sensitive smart intellectual" but then had the most basic Harry Potter convo ever and is trying to act like it was some crazy compatibility and it has nothing to do with how she looks. When it's only about how she looks.

What is with this histeria of calling out baseless accusations of prejudice twd black women of every guy who does not find attractive particular black woman ?!
1- Dom was a sweetheart in season 1 twd everyone!
2- Dom did not like Tolu, probably because she is not his type - having short hair, maybe did not like how she was dressed, or 'cause she acted too available twd him, as a fan, a teenage girl, opposite from how confident she looks in her confessionals on this show or previously in Trust.
Dom likes strong women, and Tolu in this show, when within the cast - does not present as her typical self - of strong woman, but soft and naive. (which is understandable, she is 22 I think)

@@ivapetrovska9986 when are we going to stop acting like we can't see the blatant disregard and disrespect of black women on these Netflix shows? If he didn't like her hair he should have let her stay with Izzy. I never seen Dom as a sweetheart I have always and still do see him as a player who uses "I'm sensitive and paint my nails I'm really a good guy" to manipulate people into rooting for him. There's been so many incredibly attractive, smart, funny, likeable black women on this show and they are ALWAYS treated as if they're the last choice, or a back up option. Not just with shaved heads. There's literally no reason theyd be treated that way other than their skin color so to act like we can't see it is a huge issue. There's been women with different hairstyles, styles, attitudes, looks and they were all treated the same the only common denominator was skin color. Imo having a preference based on skin color is wild because its irrelevant to a relationship. Either way though no matter what the stance i don't think that I as a white woman get to tell black women how they are allowed to feel about how other black women are treated/represented/disrespected on these shows. It's easy to tell people to not be mad about something that doesn't impact you or your immediate family and their perception of themselves/confidence in themselves. I know as a teenager/young adult when you're watching all these shows and you see people who you relate to treated a certain way it can cause you to feel a way about yourself. Netflix needs to do better casting men who do not have such a specific type. At this point they're casting these women to "be inclusive" only it feels like because they're definitely not there to be treated with the value they deserve. It's not even only Dom or only Tolu. It's 99% of the men and 100% of black women on these shows and Netflix keeps letting it happen. It's not like this has happened once with one girl.

@@ivapetrovska9986 I am a black woman. If you are not also a black woman, then please do not speak over me on topics that pertain to black women. I have seen him interact with multiple women on screen of all races and it's very clear who the odd ones out are. I do not even care that he's not attracted to black women (I think we're quite lucky in that regard). His behavior on these shows that he doesn't even value black women on the same level as other women as people. From what is seen on the show, it almost seems like he doesn't even enjoy being in the presence of black women. It's extremely bizarre behavior, particularly from a black man.

Loved that conversation you guys had at the end about the casting and what the casts preferences are. Why have a diverse group of women but have men who like only either blondes or brunettes. That’s when you know it’s just virtue signalling. Very frustrating as a black woman watching so many shows. Love island over the years has improved by farrr. But damn it used to be bad before. Other shows are just horrid. Immediately I saw Tolu I knew she had no chance. Once she’s dark skin AND she’s bald. I know black men who wouldnt even date her for those reasons(self hate ofcourse) so let alone men like Harry. In real life they’d never even look twice. She’d be invisible

I really like Dom. He seems like a sweet guy but he does remind me of the nerdy/geeky blk boys I had crushes on in high school who would never give me the time of day, despite us having a lot of common interests. It took me a long time to understand that their preference towards non blk women acts as a means to validate their geeky/nerdy/ alternative interests, positioning them away from negative blk stereotypes. I just hope his preferences have nothing to do with resisting his whole identity or fetishizing populations of women to cope with his internalized racism/prejudice/self-hatred.

I've had this experience with boys like this growing up but most of them eventually grew out of that behavior (and ironically tried to date me years later). Regardless, liking non-black women because it positions you away from stereotypes isn't any better than fetishizing. There's nothing genuine behind either of those two reasons. Notice how Kaz isn't getting flak. We've only seen him with white women on-sccreen, but at least he interacts with black women normally and doesn't disrespect them.

@@eauxkei702 Yeah those same guys had hit me up on fb like a decade later, asking me what I was up to as well 🤢. Either way, you are so right. Positioning and fetishizing are one of the same, but I wonder about how aware Dom is. In other words, I can’t speak to how Dom’s “preference” speaks to how he feels about his own blk-ness, negative stereotypes, self-hate, etc. I don’t want to assume anything about him given how messy editing and Netflix can be. Either way you have very valid points.

Reminds me of a Black guy I knew who was in a band with mostly white folks in a pretty white music scene (hardcore/metalcore/punk). He would avoid me in public like the *plague* as if to acknowledge me would be to acknowledge his Blackness. (And that could very well be the case. I have also seen this happen with Black loners here in Minnesota, a state where there are less Black folks and a lot of white silence and "niceness" about racism. The loners shut down their anger at racism by shutting the rest of us out). Back to my story, I think this guy only really started talking to me when white people started publicly talking about racism because of BLM. I had a really bad roommate who did something similar, where she only acknowledge my existance during white public uproar, and then would go back to her white world). I see this type of behavior among Black men and transmasculine folks way more often than Black women or transfemme folks. Almost as if folks who are socialized to be in touch with their feelings (Black women / Black femmes) tend to more often find better ways to cope with racism than our masculine counterparts. It comes off to me as centering the white gaze and white comfort. Even though I have a lot of white friends, I just don't keep white folks around if they are only kind to me. If they are unkind to Black folks who are different than me, then see ya later. Something tells me that Dom would be okay being with a girl who throws Black folks, especially Black women, under the bus (because he's willing to do that himself).
(To be clear, nothing wrong with liking alternative or nerdy shit. I like those things, too, which is why I was hoping to be friends with/connect with this guy in the first place. But his aloofness/bad coping was not good for me.)

Also, I feel like Jessica is going to hopefully watch this back in disgust and embarrassment. Like girl how you gonna talk about how important your daughter is and then fall for an F-boy like Harry who does nothing but manipulate, disrespect and make misogynistic and crude comments about women? She is setting a terrible example for her daughter.

The problem is that Dom made it seem like he liked her when he first got in the house and she liked him more than Izzy, so she obviously chose Dom, not knowing he was just using her to stay until he had the power to chose someone else. Tolu even said she would have chosen Izzy if Dom hadn't given her 100% and then 0% once he was safe from elimination.
And Izzy didn't want her, he went to her after he was rejected by Micah twice. He would have left her the moment someone else showed a bit of interest in him.She was doomed either way, but I'm glad Dom is gone.

I was saying the exact same thing about Dom when he paired with Dom and then wanted to go for Alara. I said he was not into Black woman, and while he is entitled to a preference, it is a physical preference and it is shallow and superficial which means he will attract superficial and shallow relationships, he attracted Francesca and then Georgia who in my opinion have major toxic tendencies... and in order to attract that, that same toxicity has to be within him as well. This is why he is still single because he is seeking out a physical preference. I am no longer a Dom STAN... He let the fame go to his head and needs way more work on himself because showing his preference not being for black woman speaks a lot to his character
Izzy would not have been much better because his type is clearly white and blonde.

19:55 I personally think by this point Tolu knows Dom is playin' games and knows he wants Allara. Dom also knows Tolu is aware but it hasn't been verbalized by any of them. So Tolu is '' Cockblocking " by keeping Allara in her couple and picking a date for herself. Dom is emoting cuz he wants to say something but can't bring himself to do it since he can't go on a date with Allara atm and still wants a spot in the villa. I think Tolu is like '' Well if u want to play games then F it '' and Dom is basically trapped between playing the nice guy for the game or be actually nice and honest by revealing himself in a vulnerable position. If he had made the 2nd choice I think the experience would have been diff for him.

I'm sure there are white ppl on production who also miss these dynamics but I feel like with so many people behind the scenes and there ARE blk ppl on the team and the public has been very loud about their distain for these dynamics so saying for production to say they didn't know just isn't going to cut it

I'm also curious what make Dom wants to come back on a show he won (whatever the prize was) and where we cast based on a pool of Netflix "contestants". The pool of possibilities is not as big as when people try to cast on Too Hot to Handle or LIB for an upcoming season as their first Netflix show. It does not allow necessarily a variety of opportunities to bring people who have different preferences types (romantic, platonic or even friendship).

Tolu was kicking herself about letting Izzy go but she was his second choice - he was more interested in Micah but Micah turned him
    Down .
Dom n her had a wonderful date - I don’t doubt that , but I was suspicious because it was very clear how he was completely not interested in Black women during the first season of the show so I was surprised that he showed any interest in Tolu .
Kaz, stated the two women he was interested in when he came on the show didn’t include Tolu . Everyone has a right to like who they like but I wish the producers n casting directors if this show cast men who are genuinely interested in black women. And have at least of these men be also Black . That would be refreshing . Black women on these shows often get regulated too the pretty women that everyone ignores .and that sucks also . That had two different blonde women cast but one black women one black man . Do better .
I hope Tulu finds axman worthy of her .

I want to take a moment to explain something real quick about this Dom and Tolu thing. When you have a preference for something that means that you like two things, but you just prefer one over the other. In Dom's case, this is not a preference because he does not like black women at all. He only likes white women. So that is not a preference, that is just straight up self-hate and we need to start labeling it as such 💯

I feel like Dom met Harry and he wants to be just like him. You guys called it by saying he was playing hard to get but he did it wrong bc he doesn't know how he's not that guy. He's trying to rebrand by taking away wheat makes him liked? It just makes me think yeah he's got a big head he wants to be like Harry he just wants to get more famous so it doesn't matter if he alienated his core audience cause he'll still get laid hell still get sponsorships and opportunities and that's what he's about now. End rant 🙄🙄

No, I think Dom wanted to rebrand because he felt foolish being played by 2 women in the previous season.
He forgot that his loyalty and sweetness were exactly why he was adored by the public.

I think harry is a bad example in this case because the context of the show. It is his job, being messy gets him attention and that clout makes him rich and successful. So if playing the villian and having that persona is whats garnered you the life style/financial freedom that most people strive for its harder to stop.
With that being said I think assuming people are going to do the wrong thing because they have before isnt fair. Yea, he has a track record and obviously people are going to judge him which is fine. When hes going to therapy, working on it, and people can see hes trying to be different but im ediately accuse that behaviour as an act/manipulation its gotta feel horrible. Id imagine hes like im trying, no one believes me. Everyone sees me as this horrible person no matter what so why am I even putting in all this effort to be better when not given the room to be better. I think when hes saying hes trying to be better and serious he means that. Hes clearly having inner turmoil. Ive always hated him. After watching the last episodes though i was reflecting on why i dont believe him and realized that it's probably that mindset that perpetuates the same behavior in him. Its gotta be so painful to hace such a huge audience all against you even if youre trying/working on yourself. Its less painful to play the role everyone is accusing you of so atleast it feels like its a character everyone hates and not you. Idk. Breyton or whatever his name was i think ia actually just a shitty person. Harry though i think has deep rooted issues and shouldnt have been platformed in the first olace because of all i mwntioned above. However, i think harry is a good person and has the potential to change if the pressure to entertain/expectation to fail wasnt so engrained by what probably to hime feels like the world judging.

Yea i also feel like the type of black women they bring on the show dont make sense. Last season it was two real estate agents, this season its someone from the truth (also lets be honest, she doesnt have the look or vibe of the other contestants). Like its just setting them up for failure on a show like this.

@@aisharedux781 I also was completely shocked at the Tolu not having the vibe/look comment. Typically I wouldn't rate/compare people but for the sake of this argument Tolu is the most beautiful woman there. Her face card couldn't decline if she tried. Her personality/style/loyalty to the other women is BY FAR above the rest as well. I'm genuinely so confused by this comment and others on this video cuz I feel like based on peoples opinions of her we cannot be watching the same show.

I didn't watch the trust but in this I love her. I think she's straight forward to the point while also being vulnerable which I feel like a lot of people can't do. I have been so impressed by the way she has handled situations while being emotional. As well as maintaining good relationships/being supportive of the girls. I'm curious what you're seeing that's aggressive. I'm only 3 minutes in so maybe they bring attention to it as well. Maybe I missed something or maybe we are just interpreting her differently. Idk but I was genuinely shocked to read this comment.
