You saved my onions! Thanks... I just used a metal hammer (thats all I had) and put a bit of cardboard over the end... and had to hit it really quite hard about 3 or 4 times and it popped out.. I was able to reuse it again in another base that was new... so worked a treat and saved me buying a whole new chair.

Hi, I forgot to remove the cap to my gas lift before I put my chair together, and now the cap is stuck in the chair part! Do you know how to get the cap out? Have I ruined everything?

Not one video, that I can find on RUclips, shows how to remove the bottom encasement tube covering from the actual gas strut. In my case, the two outer tube shields on my bar stools are brushed SS, not chrome, therefore I always want to reuse those encasement tubes and need only the gas strut to reinsert. Would be nice if you had taken your video just one step further to show that process. I'm actually not finding just the gas strut to purchase and reinsert into both pieces of my brushed steel encasement's. It appears that the replacement gas lift comes with the bottom chrome covering already attached. How do I remove that so that bottom chrome covering so that I can reinsert just the gas strut into my brushed steel encasement's?

That looks very easy. I tried the same but my freaking gas cylinder seems to be stuck in the base plate.

Why didn't you showed how to get what's left down to its original position? Mine didn't want to lower, even with a good amount of force on it. ???
