- Gas Lift Removal Instructions
To replace the gas lift on your bar stool or kitchen stool, please follow these instructions:
1. You need to remove the seat top along with the stem attached with the footrest. You do this by putting pressure on the base when its stood up and holding the lift lever up. You then need to hold both sides of the seat top and pull hard to separate the stool. (please note - assistance may be required)
2. Now you need to remove the gas lift section from the base. You do this by lying the stool down so you have access to the bottom of the stool. Now you should see the bottom of the gas lift coming through the base. Knock the bottom of the gas lift until it comes loose from the base.
3. Insert your new gas lift and push the rest of the stool back on top.

I forgot to put on the base stem cover when I assembled it. Couldn't disassemble it again until I watched your video - so easy when you know how. Thank you so much.
Excellent video - thank you!
No amount of bashing the cylinder would free it from the base. Stuck solid and air-tight. I tried WD40 overnight but no difference. Finally did this:
1. Stand on its base with cylinder pointing upwards (normal position)
2. Hold base firmly and bash the cylinder at the sides all around.
3. Then the method above worked!
Brilliant mate cheers.Prior to your video it was the getting the seat off bit I couldn't fathom. Got those plastic tulip bar stools and the seat had split.
This video left the viewrs at a cliffhanger 😆
Thanks this was Very helpful.
brilliant! thank you
Muito bom. Estava tentando agora tirar. Tanks
Thank you
thank you
Funcionó excelente, le coloque un trapo y con un golpe seco salió, gracias.
It's usually the 4 welds on the base that go on these, not the lift. Bases are almost impossible to get hold of
Hi mate any ideas how to fix a wobbly bar stool. The base is ok and the glass just very wobbly
Do I have to have gas lift pipe down before assembling as it's up
Funny. I have owned three bar stools. Not one have I been able to disassemble like this as the column won´t let go of the base no matter how many times or how hard one hits with a mallet. All these videos seem to be using very loosely put together columns and bases.
Mine is the same as the one you are working on but it is in the up position pull it of with the seat what do I do
My gas cylinder cap in the middle is up how do I lock it
ok, great... where do you get the new cylinder from? looks like a dead easy repair but without knowing where to get a gas cylinder it's impossible to do.
Is this the part I need if the stool keeps rising on it's own.
@@melissasidaway3674 mine sloooooowly goes down.
Did you ever figure out where to get the cylinders from?
@@eb9844 so does mine. We have 5 stools in the kitchen and if i sit on 2 of them they start to go down. Annoying when you're eating.
Is there a repair centre and we’re can I get a new cylinder please
Have you been able to figure where to get new cylinders?
Amazon has them
Yeah, I can't get mine loose at all! It's not nearly as easy at it looks.
Hi Nancy, thanks for your comment. Please note that depending on which bar stool you have, occasionally you may need to stand your bar stool in the "normal position" on it's base with the cylinder pointing upwards and then, holding the base firmly, try knocking it on all side of the cylinder and it should eventually come free...
Any leads on where to buy new cylinders?
i smacked mine 100x doesnt come out
Does work but you may need to put a bit more effort into at than these guys do!
