It’s because he hit the start of the curb at the perfect angle (his nose was right over it). Catch fence did it’s job and the repair team got the job done in time for the Indy race (and the lights race concluded after the Indy race). Hell of a day
@@Jeffcatbuckeye OK....and you have how many years of competition driving experience? Bonehead move. Any coach of any worth will nag you to "stay off the rumble strips".
Not sure how to react on the fence getting pulled away together with the car. But its definetly a really good sign that it just slid along with the fence and the frontwing and nose didnt get caught in the fence and didnt send him into a spin or other rotation. Anyone know if the fencing is different from the ones used at superspeedways like pocono and stuff?
Yeah the fences on road courses usually give more and are usually weaker because for the most part they don't have to worry about cars flying at them. On the other hand ovals have much stronger fences to keep the cars in the track and not in the stands due to higher speeds.
Well that was the softest catchfence crash you’ll ever see.
Wow that’s the first time I’ve ever seen the catch fence actually stop a car without completely destroying it pretty cool
The world's nicest catchfence I guess
What’s weird about this crash is that the curb made him go that high. That’s weird as hell. Glad he’s okay tho.
pish. Amateur. This is how you get air off of a kerb! ruclips.net/video/AuvHv_VRUM8/видео.html
Same thing happened to Lindsay Brewer in the Indy Pro race the day before as well. Not as much air but the kerb ended her race.
@@Grants11 that’s one dangerous Road America curb, right there👀

@@alexstevinson2385 what a crash, and what a day
"I have never seen anything like that in my life!" as DW would say.
Never seen a catchfence crash where it actually doesn't kill the car. Wow.
Do they have sausage kerbs at these venues? Or was it just an unlucky hit? The fence did a good job keeping the driver safe at least
This is way off-topic, but I'm interested to know how many people were at RA this year, as opposed to other years.
I was walking to that area, but was at the official Indy merch tent when it happened.
Quite simply, the curbing is too high/abrupt and should be revised. There’s no reason that it should be tall enough to send cars airborne.
Scary stuff! What was his reason of steering over into the curb I dont understand that part
To avoid getting impacted by the car beside him
@@Jeffcatbuckeye There was no car anywhere near him.
@@Lotusespritdriver I think you clicked the wrong link or commented on the wrong video….or you are on a level of eyesight similar to ray charles.

@@Lotusespritdriver The car immediately to his left pushed him over there - he had no choice on hitting the curb.
Typical sausage kerbs... Daniil Kvyat, Alex Peroni and now Christian Bogle. They won't change it until someone gets seriously injured or even worse.
YEEYEE
This isn’t iracing Christian, you can’t use the kerb there

Called the race, too long for repairs i guess?
They finishing the race after the indycar race.
They’ll finish the race at 3:15
It took them an 1:30 to fix the barrier. They had to put a whole new wall and catch fence in
