The note about the damaged marines in the bunker is just such a huge thing in my enjoyment of BW and how Artosis plays into it. In so many multiplayer game the small increments at the start are quite irrelevant either due to healing (reaper in sc2) or because pressuring the main base is impossible until late/mid game. But that little interaction with the Marines and the Zealot and the opportunities that appears/disappears due to that little interaction (which in turn I can only appreciate thanks to Artosis great casting and insight) is what keeps me coming back to Broodwar. It truly is a fantastic game and esport is in turn so dependant on having great commentators that reveal the beauty of the games we watch.
I was wandering if he will take off mines before move out like: "no, its impossible to just get out and sit on the mines like a newbie", and then it happened. Its so annoing to destroy mines with any unit, the are such small it take hours, everyone thinks there is no time for that, even PROgamer...
To your note about the years it takes to be a pro gamer. How long were JyJ and Rush hanging out in the lower tiers of ASL? How long were we just writing them off? Feels like it's been a life time and just in these past few season are they really considered some of the best.
The mines eating Rain’s rally at 17:20 bought Taengu another 4min but Rain’s macro was too strong. The mine drag and storms at 13:20 was truly the beginning of the end though. One can’t be losing so many tanks like that when Protoss dominating macro.
@@ArtosisCasts The NamKraft RUclips channel managed to cast some of these ASL 17 qualifier matches (casting over Korean commentary), but obviously I don't know about the permission situation.
After rain flew those five shuttles in the terans base at the end of the end the game. he shouldve went mass dt and killed the terrans army that wouldve been hilarious.
It’s not so easy to hit them without losing it. Like let’s say goons are attacking… by the time you hit emp on them, they might have already lost their shields to the first tank volley. Oftentimes dmatrix is more useful. Emp is good though, just situational.
Yeah to back up what Artosis said, Taengu did get EMP here, and he did intend to use it if saw a good chance. Typically that means spotting an arbiter or a few templar before they cast their spells, but it can also mean softening up an army before the battle starts. But those opportunities just don't always present themselves. Using EMP in the middle of a fight doesn't do much, so D Matrix is typically better in those cases.
It's casting is wonky AF and there's a bad lag to it that makes hitting moving targets difficult especially if youre trying to get the vessel in and out without being killed.
@@junioraltamontent.7582 EMP doesn't lag. The problem is with Recall, which is just a weird spell that spends energy way before the effect really happens.
Valks are more for killing large groups of air units, not a couple shuttles. They are expensive to build too and take 3 supply each. Wraiths are far better for killing shuttles.
They have a more mobile army. The more mobile your army, the easier it is to take expansions. This is offset by the less mobile army being more cost efficient.
RT this game graphics look different, like sharper and a bit less saturated, I dig it. the hues feel the same as usual, but better in a way that is hard to explain. maybe is less bright too. now that I read all that I wrote up here, maybe its the contrast, that would explain it all wouldn't it. I like this contrast!
Rain's technical execution seems really sharp. Guy is patient and not flashy, but when he wants to lay down god like storms in a few seconds with templars in a shuttle he can do it pretty consistently. Bisu's more my cup of tea though as he's more take the battle to you type of player.
I'm amazed how Rain gave no fucks about sending a ton of units (esp shuttles) to meat grinders haha. Esp in the last 10 minutes it looked like none of the shuttles really did anything and it cost him a massive amount of resources but his macro was soooo far ahead that he could just keep doing it.
They do sometimes but it's less common than Defense Matrix as that doesn't need researching and isn't as micro intensive. EMP will usually be researched to zap High Templar's or Arbiters but offensively EMPing shields isn't usually efficient due to its high APM/micro requirement and relatively small splash so it remains more of a situational use for the spell than an intentional build strategy.
also by the time the emp lands in an engagement the shields are possibly already gone, while sending your vessel out to emp shields is potentially useless and risks losing a very expensive unit emp is strong against templar and arbiters if you can land it, but it is hard against a moving unit because impact delay
Wait, didn’t you say a few days ago that BISU what is the best Protoss player ever? Now you’re saying Rain is the greatest? Is “greatest“ different from “best ever“? Or what’s going on here? You’re screwing up my rankings chart.
Bisu is generally considered the protoss who achieved the most in the sport. Rain (in artosis's opinion) is the most skilled/talented protoss. Rain COULD achieve so much more in brood war but just doesn't care. As a side note I agree with artosis. Rain is the scariest protoss I've ever seen. He's on another level. Calling him "The Flash of protoss" just based on skill, knowledge, and instinct actually makes a lot of sense.

Lol
Artosis called this game like three different times and even started to give his outro segment at 21:00 but TaEnGu refused to quit.
fantasy gg timing
that's why he'll never make ASL
@@cl8804He qualified
Rain showing how he earned his namesake. Those storms were torrential.
I’ve never seen so many devastating psi storms good lord.
Guy stormed like an entire mountain side like 5 times.
13:20 goddamn that mine drag absolutely screwed TaEnGu
Holyshit, didnt notice at first
Imagine a cinematic of that. A zealot landed in the middle of a Terran formation and everyone was "Aw, fu..."
oof
That was a mine codenamed " *NUCLEAR MISSILE* "

Rush was on CJ Entus and JyJ was on SKT1 back in 2008ish.
ya looking at the list I think Zelot and Taengu are the only ones who were not on teams during the Kespa era
Even then Zelot shows up in the post-kespa tournaments end of 2012 filled with the non-SC2 kespa players. It's crazy.
Good on Taengu. Great to hear about a new amateur making it so far.

Are we going to see some ASL qualifier games Arty?
I don’t think so, but I’m checking

We need more korhal tileset maps
Great game - thanks for covering the up-and-comers!
Great commentary, as always
That Goliath rush in the end was very surprising.
skill gap between asl pro vs right outside it asl qualifer is insane
I am too into this for only 1 a day, I've started watching the oldest one too.

Loving the BW ladder content! Keep up the great work
Why don’t more Terran players use EMP against Protoss? It seems like a waste of science vessels to not wipe shields off a big clump of dragoons

I have a noob question, why terran doesn't use valkyries to counter shuttle reaver?
Valks are more for killing large groups of air units, not a couple shuttles. They are expensive to build too and take 3 supply each. Wraiths are far better for killing shuttles.
It’s been tried. It kind of works a little. Gols and turrets are easier and more flexible.
Goliaths just a more versitile unit, more reliable and they come from factories. Valks are used to clear mass air. Not great for picking off shuttles.
WHY TOSS GETS TO OWN THE ENTIRE MAP?? THEY WOULD EXPAND TO ANOTHER MAP IF THEY COULD

Sit and turtle until you lose on resources 😅

That's basically the protoss way of winning in PvT.
Once you hit a critical mass of economy you can just win by constantly reducing tank counts at almost any cost.
Can someone explain why T doesn't use EMP against P?

Looks like the first big storm was mostly a mine, not storm.
He seiged on top of his own mines. Shuttle dropped a zealot. 6-7 units insta blow up.
arty can we get a tvt, its been a while i think we are due for one
Right!!!!
Yes, I wouldn't mind some more mirror matchups. Just not ZvZ.
