I miss the days of old minecraft where you’d just be walking around and just have a squid fly past you and then ping back to where it was supposed to be. Good times
I remember, when 1.3.2 just came out, so I hoped into new world, set some random seed and had completely amazing build in jungle open cave. Not normal ravin, but it was open on side. Just amazing. It was close to a pond, but about 3 blocks higher. It was completely normal, to have squid in the base, even tho, it was completely closed by glass blocks and doors. I was once even blocked from using my crafting table cause I had it in ground as a floor, and there was so many squids there. I had to punch them all by hand. After I killed all of them, I had serious problem with finding any more squids...
@@izdani03 they had a trivia session and so impulse's obscure knowledge combined with chat pulling random facts off the wiki. (I believe this is where the luck potion was brought up, and fun fact their is also an effect for bad luck that presumably does the opposite of the luck effect)
The brief period where the killer bunny *was* in vanilla minecraft was pretty hilarious. Especially for hardcore worlds. You never expect the bunny inquisition.
i remember the sense of dread and anticipation any time i played minecraft as a kid that the bunnies would start attacking and was scared of being near them while playing for almost a year after because i was convinced they'd attack. i thought it was some weird fever dream for a while until i found out it was, in fact, a thing
Whenever an item is on the floor and two players are trying to pick it up at the same time, it's not because of one player being closer, internet speed or hosting. The player who picks it up is whoever logged in first. I like to call this "pick-up priority". If you trick the other player into leaving and rejoining the session, you will now have "pick-up priority" over them. It's one of my favourite minecraft facts, since it actually comes up fairly often.
THAT IS WHY see my friend had my mending book then he threw it on the floor and we reached it at the same time but he picked it up and he did this 36 TIMES
@@jameschamberlin3926 I thought it was the reverse! Cuz when you drop multiple items and pick them up yourself there’s like, a cool-down window before you pick the items up again so you end up picking them up in the order you dropped them in. So if you dropped an item between you and someone else I would have assumed they could pick it up because they don’t have that item cool-down. Fascinating.
A snow layer hitbox is actually always one less than the stack of snow. That way you still walk on the grass level when snow fell and that's why 4 layers of snow (visually equivalent to a slab) can be crawled on, because it is only 3/8th of a block tall and you can't crawl into the slab one from there! (Also something I learned from Etho from when he was trying to get a really high jumping horse)
It becomes more noticeable when walking over block with only 1 layer on top of them and block with 2. The blocks covered in 2 layers will cause the player the "bump up" a bit, while the 1-layered blocks will not.
Fun fact about the bunny: It actually used to be in vanilla around the time of release. It was also named The Killer Bunny of Caerbannog, before it got updated to just The Killer Bunny. The chance to find one was 1/1000 but nerfed and then ultimately removed. I remember running across one in vanilla and l lost my mind. First at taking hits and looking around and looking behind the rabbit, only to find it WAS the rabbit. After I saw the name I ran for my life. I'm pretty sure I heard someone cackling in the distance, but it might have just been my neighbor.
A few more fun facts related to what you shared: - The reason you can fit between a block and a slab of snow is because the hitboxes of snow layers are actually 1/8 block shorter than they appear - In addition to the Potion of Luck, there is also a Potion of Bad Luck which does what you expect. In the code, it is referred to as "unluck."
I was gonna say the same lol Plus you can still get luck in survival through trading with fletchers for arrows of luck. And if you ctrl+middleclick a loot chest you can see the three different loot-tables (with luck without and with unluck) by placing it three times and opening the different boxes with the diffrent effects.
@@FancyFreestyler Another one here: In addition to Villagers, Allays and Armor Stands, if you give a Fox a piece of Armor with Thorns and let it hold it in its mouth, it can also kill you
@@jamesl8542 That one and the Mundane Potion can both be obtained in survival tho, so I feel it's not in the same category as the luck and unluck potions
I think the bowl might be in reference to the days of exploration when discovering large turtles (that they promptly ate) and reuse the shells as large bowls
You can take a wet sponge, put it in a furnace, then use a lava bucket as fuel. This will leave an empty bucket in the fuel slot, but one the wet sponge gets smelted, THE BUCKET IN THE FUEL SLOT GETS FILLED WITH WATER. I learned this from Etho when he was trying to make an automated brewery in the nether.
If you're on fire, you eliminate powdered snow blocks simply by running through them, resulting in the odd circumstance of potions of fire resistance being really useful in snowy mountain biomes (though you do have to re-set yourself on fire after eliminating each snow block/column of blocks).
Toast was actually a memorial for one of the player's dead rabbit who was named "Toast" And, turtle eggs and diamonds have the same shape, just re-textured. And the luck effect was edited to only affect the chance of fishing up items from the "treasure category, like bows, fishing rods etc.
@@TheMainMerchant yeah like for example if you are one the same seed many times, you might get the same loot(also I really should go to bed it’s almost midnight aest time.tho I’m lucky it’s not a school night)
The fact Etho taught Grian a few of these tricks is funny too me, mainly for the fact that Etho just knows all this random facts about the game but also the fact it doesn’t surprise me he does
I can't say how many times I've rewatched the time Etho showed Grian the first point. There's something so precious about a grown man screaming with excitement & happiness. Lol They say us Brits are repressed too! Scar's reaction was great as well. 😁
It's not too unrealistic when you realize Grian did a lot of primarily creative mode stuff (like buildbattles) when the Killer Bunny was a vanilla mob. Plus it was a pretty rare mob as well.
So few people know about this and it's one of the most useful things I have learned, especially if you play modded minecraft a bit. There isn't an enchantment limit on your tools and armor, only a limited amount of times you can apply a book, so if you combine the books before applying them, you can get that perfect diamond sword you never seem to reach.
I don't remember exactly how it works, but it's not exactly the number of books. Something about matching "levels" that roughly correspond to the number of enchantments on a thing- Gnembon has a great video explaining it.
@@Hyrum_GraffItems remember how many times it has been used in an anvil, and there is a limit to how many times it can be repaired or combined with something. So instead of taking an item and adding 5 books to it in a row, totaling 5 uses, you can instead combine 2 books twice, the item and another book, combine the combined books and then add them to the item and it should count as 3 uses.
If a turtle spawns in the 0 x 0 y chunk you can track it’s movement and predict the location of the stronghold. Same works for nether fossils but you probably knew that
That's actually called "Divine Travel" and there's bunch of things in any world that indicates where a Stronghold may be... things like nether fossils are the most useful, but ravines and snow bunnies can also be used...
Anyone else think that the snow scaffolding would be a great maneuver when deployed correctly in a 3rd life series? Just go to build height and no one can trace you
it would be pretty boring to just camp out at build height though, right? They don't just do the series to win they do it to have fun and make fun content :P might be an amusing one off trick though if someone were getting actively hunted down xD
Man I remember years and years ago when you'd suddenly see a flying squid while on top of a mountain with no water nearby and you knew you were gonna crash lmao... Takes me back to this one time when I played a hardcore world all day while recording and on camera I lagged so hard I snapped all the way back to the beginning with none of my items. As if nothing ever happened and it was just a long dream. 8-12 hours of playing only to be reverse lagged all the way to Ohio.
Re: Crawling in half-block The reason you can do it with snow layers is because 4 snow layers is only 0.375 blocks high, instead of 0.5 like a slab. They just "look" like 0.5 high. This is why mobs can spawn on a single snow layer (0 blocks high) but not 2 snow layers (0.125 blocks high)
The Toast bunny was actually someone's real life bunny!! It sadly went missing, so the person asked Mojang on Reddit if they could add it into the game to help them remember him
The reason crawling in a half-block space with snow under you works is because snow lies to you. When in snow layers, you're actually submerged into the block by one pixel.
It used to be a one in a million chance that The Killer Bunny would spawn instead of a normal rabbit, but when the game got too big, they realized how many nine year olds would die repeatedly to it, so they removed it.
I used to play in pocket edition while it was still in the game. Kept dying to it but loved the Monty python reference. I wish it was still in the game.
The reason you didn't find "lucky" loot in this video is because the vanilla loot tables don't utilize the Luck feature. You have to build your own loot tables in a datapack to use Luck. However, the vanilla game does let you get better fishing loot with Luck.
Because Luck (and the inverse "Bad Luck") is not used for anything besides fishing, it makes for a great placeholder effect when working with command blocks. For example, I once made a custom aggro potion to make mobs fight each other. The player could attack mobs with custom "Bad Luck" tipped arrows or lingering/splash potions, and commands would detect mobs with the effect and make them fight each other.
Luck is really fun when you’re making minigames with rpg-like mechanics, since you can modify the luck attribute with equipment. You can also make some items only drop if you have above a certain luck threshold, so you can do some really neat progression systems with it!
If memory serves, the Killer Bunny was originally added with rabbits in 1.8 back in 2014. It originally could spawn naturally (but had a low chance of doing), but this was quickly removed since Mojang felt that having such a strong mob that could spawn that early was antithetical to fun (and also because the reference has been done to death).
im pretty sure i actually got killed by one in the wild in the short time they were in the game. didnt even know they were a thing until i got got by one lol. literally the funniest thing ever. i was so mad when they removed them, i want them back so bad 😔
Doc has a UHC video where they spawned in a tree and a white bunny was jumping towards them. The entire team was like "Is this it?! Is this the killer bunny?!". It wasn't but the memory lives on.
The killer bunny used to be able to spawn naturally in minecraft, it was removed in an update. Probably because it just wasn’t fun to be randomly attacked by a rabbit that does a ton of damage
its also a refrence to the killer rabbit in monthy python and the holy grail. toast is the rabbit that belonged to a minecraft player years ago . after they passed away the rabbit was added as a custom skin to minecraft
Luck potions not only have an effect on randomly generated chests but it also makes rare fishing items more common. Another fishing fact is that the tropical fish is the rarest fish to catch while fishing with a 2% chance to be picked up.
@@knight9151 2% isn’t actually that unlikely. 2% is a 1/50 chance meaning if you’re doing a lot of fishing you have a decent chance to get a handful of tropical fish.
Actually the luck effect grants you a higher chance of getting better loot at certain loot tables, like fishing. Luck actually does not improve the loot in chests. [ yes there is controversy on this fact, some wikis say it only improves fishing while others say it affects naturally generated chests] (Fun fact: Luck arrows were once obtainable in survival at 19w13a, a snapshot from 1.14, being obtained from fletcher villagers when the player had Hero of the Village)
It can't affect chests, since those are filled on generation and not on opening. By the time you open the chest, it has already been filled before you found it. Or at least, that's how it used to work.
@@strangejune don't chest only fill once a player opens it though? Cuz when in spectator, you can't open naturally spawning chests as the loot hasn't been generated yet.
You can feed a brown mooshroom a flower and when you milk it with a bowl it gives you the suspicious stew with the potion affect that is correlated to the flower that you fed it, for example lily of the valley will give you the poisonous suspicious stew and the dandelion will give you the suspicious stew with the saturation affect, restoring up to 8 hunger points!
I have to believe he knows about this one since I'm pretty sure one of the Hermits (Pearl, I think? Or maybe it was Cleo) has a suspicious stew shop in the current season of Hermitcraft.
@@EpicNerdsWithCameras pearl is the sOUp lady, part of the sOUp crew (with impulse and gem), but i dont think grian would know, cause not even pearl knows what sOUps she's gettting, since they're always from master farmer villagers.
Lightning in relationships with mobs have always been a strange one. Creepers become charged. Pigs to Zombie Pigman. Villager to Witch. Mooshroom to a brown mooshroom. Turtles to bowls. Though that's the only case where one dies, at least that I'm currently thinking of. I feel like I'm missing something here, but just not thinking of it. Weird things like this I know because me playing Minecraft is just randomly experimenting in creative mode to see how things work and interact with each other. Or from Minecraft update videos, like from bigB, ibxtoycat, or LogDotZip. Where they would talk about upcoming things. Though when it came to new feature that never got implemented I always got confused. Even more so when it came to Education Edition, not releasing it was just an update or mod, but rather an entire new branch off. So I'm sure there are others I could think of, but I don't seem to be right now, and y'all probably best me to the punch anyways.
It happens because you don't take fall damage when landing in powdered snow. It makes perfect sense as long as you don't think about it. Well it's consistent with bouncing on carpet on slimeblocks anyway.
Every time grian gets excited he makes the sound that R2D2 makes when he is exited. It sounds so fun! Edit: I GOT 24 NOTIFICATIONS FROM RUclips JUST IN 20 OURS
The bowl makes sense to me- the turtle died leaving just its shell. People all around the world used to use turtle shells for bowls. Also, when turtles die the shells take a reallyyy long time to decompose. So, I guess it makes sense
@@palecaptainwolfkayls8499 they're actually made of keratin, so its basically like a really hard fingernail lol. I have a pet turtle and you can tell the shell is a little softer than bone. But yeah they last for a really long time!!
i always thought it was minecraft's way of showing "turtles eat plastic". and idk i still stand by that becuase the first time i found out about it, i thought it was funny.
Something I have noticed in Secret Life that surprised a few players (including Pearl), so I don't know if you knew or not, but wolves and dogs are always hostile to skeletons and skeletons will flee if they see one. Also powdered snow will prevent fall damage even if they have carpet above them, as long as you're not wearing leather boots
For the ocean monument, I believe you can place tnt directly on the monument, sand on top and ignite the tnt. Theoretically, it should work the same way
That's how I've seen it done in a couple of monument vids. No string or risk of having the stuff wander off to the side, because it's already down. The sand still falls inside of the TNT entity, letting it do its boom thing.
A weird fact about boats is that after Mojang changed them so they would "always" drop as the boat item instead of a stick and 2 planks, certain times you're still able to make it actually break! One way you can recreate this is falling into scaffolding with a boat (usually you would just land on it but if you manage to cram the boat into the scaffolding on the side whilst falling, it will actually break the boat into sticks and planks.
There's actually also a potion of "unluck" that does the opposite of the potion of luck. There was also "lucky arrows" but they are insanely hard to get as you can only get them through trading with fletchers. They also have a very small chance of appearing in the fletcher's trades.
in the version 1.5 or 1.7 (not sure) you were able to get spawn eggs for unusual entities such as item frames or paintings using commands. And trying to modify a spawner (by right clicking them) with those spawn eggs would not only crash the game, but also your computer as well. So if you ever want to see what a blue screen looks like you know what to do.
Yes! And it's not working on chests. Chest's loot is attached to the world seed. Eather you open it with or without potion effect, the loot would be the same.
In Peaceful Mode, all hostile mobs are turned off, and neutral mobs like wolves and dolphins don't attack. Except one. Llamas still spit at the player in Peaceful Mode. Which means you actually can die to mob damage in Peaceful Mode :)
If you’re wondering, Grian had captions at the very start because for pc and mobile devices when you hover over a video it gives you a preview without sound.
@@yetanotheruser5888 I think Random Entertainment meant that, in the home page of RUclips (before clicking the video) you can hover over the thumbnail and it starts playing the first seconds, but without sound
RUclips captions do not work for interactive thumbnail reviews which is why RUclipsrs often put text in their first few seconds which is what this commenter was trying to explain, it is nothing new but Grian is doing it too now which is good for him
4:28 The reason it works is because you actually "sink" into the highest layer of the snow, when you have a 4-layers snow block, it is technically managed as a 3-layers snow for the hitbox.
So interesting thing I actually just learnt yesterday is if you smelt a wet sponge and place a bucket where the fuel is suppose to be when the sponge is being smelted you can actually get a water bucket in return. It is absolutely strange and I never knew about this once for the seven years I have been playing. Edit: Holy cow everyone thanks for liking the comment it means allot I actually have a few more things I like to share that you might find interesting. So on the bedrock edition of Minecraft it was possible to sprint backwards. All you needed to do was simply start up a sprint and immediately start walking backwards if you did it right you will be walking backwards at running speed. This was later patched out but was used mostly for pvp as a quick way to retreat from a fight for controller players! Another one I have is actually also on bedrock and is a glitch I personally found that if you are able to force your player inside a block making use of pistons you can use pearls to clip through any solid block including bedrock. Another one I found is that candles also can help you clip through walls all you have to do is place one candle next to a wall you want to go through and walk all the way up to the wall and look down. When you're ready, start a sprint and throw a pearl at the same time if you did it right you should walk right through the wall. I haven't tested this clip in Java so I'm not sure if it will work on there. Another one I know actually for Java is that you can actually smuggle items through a clear command by putting them in your crafting menu when you open your inventory. Please don't use this on servers to cheat though cause it will not end well and I don't want to be responsible for someone being banned. But lastly, there is a trick on Java that you can use to find the exact direction of a bastion. By turning your fov all the way to thirty in the nether and opening up the debug screen to look at the entity counter the amount of entities will spike up if there is a bastion in the direction you are looking. This trick is called microlensing and was developed by the speedrunning community and would highly recommend for your guys to go watch some videos on it cause they explain it much better than me. Anyways wanted to come back to this comment to give you guys some more cool things to try out. Hopefully you find the facts interesting!
If you stare at an enderman that's already aggressive for long enough, it actually becomes passive again. It's like a high-stakes staring contest, in which endermen are very honorable. *edit OMG, I never thought I'd ever get this many likes on anything, thank you all SO MUCH!❤️
6:57 He also learned that TNT has the chance to move slightly to a direction during it's lighting animation, making it occasionally not fall down a hole you might've placed it above
The Luck effect also increases your fishing luck, and its chest loot buff *does* actually work if the chest's loot table is configured for it! None of the vanilla loot tables have that, though, but you might get more items if you have the Luck effect.
With the thorns trick, you can make a lot of mobs invincible, and upon hitting them u die. This can be used on a pvp server to protect your base. You can also give a chest plate to a frog I believe.
At one point in the game, from 1.2 to 1.3 you could milk squids with a bucket. The reason is that to make the squid parts of the code from cows was re-used and the Devs forgot to remove the ability of players to milk them.
Ok. well if its back with the twist of u get ink out of it? Thus solving the ethical issues with mass murder of squid for ink and promoting conversations on conservation.
@@kingoftheearth2149 i play on a server with some friends and since i dont like killing passive mobs but love black dye and glow ink; the owner of a server found a plugin that reintroduced milking squidand modified it to work by using a blow and getting ink sacks theres other notalgia-y stuff i have on the server so the old milking squid thing fit really well and i love it
i really hope more people do subtitles like this, these kinds of subtitles are mostly used by channels that often include interviews like tom scott or channels that do lets plays with multiple people, but there are other occasions where they can come in handy
You will definitely notice the luck potion effect when you increase it to max. Also, keep in mind that it only works for chests spawned in new chunks loaded while you have the effect. You can't expect the chest to just randomly fill up with diamonds before you open it lol
For chests with loot tables, which i could swear is all of them, loot only generates when opened, so yes you can have a chest that was in an already loaded chunk, as long as you didn't generate yhe treasure already by opening it
There was also a “Potion of Unluck”, that is just the opposite of the Potion of Luck. The little picture next to the effect is a brown and ripped up four leaf clover.
If your bees keep despawing/getting lost, search for them in the northwest direction. They have a tendency to pathfind that way and end up flying into unloaded chunks ;)
I'm pretty sure snow slabs are technically one snow slabs smaller than what's shown, when you run over one on the ground there's no raise but once you add another (making it 2 high) you raise up on snow slabs high and so on. That's why you can't get in-between the half slab even though it looks like you are when it's snow slabs, Correct me if I'm wrong! Great video!!
In other words, you always sink into the first snow layer, which makes sense. Another way to create a slightly-larger-than-half gap is a top slab and mud or soul sand beneath. It's possible to get into that gap, too.
@Another Duck and @Who Cares you guys are right, thank you! And yeah @Ian Corcoran haha I realized the way I explained it might have been dumb but it's way simpler to understand stand in game, basically using snow slabs it will always be one lower than what you've placed
The killer bunny is hilarious as I remember it delaying a Mindcrack UHC episode for about 5 minutes while the players debated whether or not a regular white rabbit was killer or not (it wasn't). It also has an absolute glass jaw as three dogs will take it down with little to no problem.
6:45 used to play factions servers, while raiding someone's base players built tnt cannons that shoot sand and tnt to break through claimed walls covered in water. It's very useful there
LOL Etho always has insane knowledge on the most goofiest things, he's always experimenting what works and really gets in depth what each feature and block or item can really do in the game. Sometimes he just sounds like the actual wiki but he makes it fun
If you separate the wandering trader from its llamas you can keep those forever as long as you tie them to a fence post. After the wandering trader is gone, you can even tame them and breed them. Little ones come with the decoration too...
The luck mechanic and status effect were added in 1.9 alongside the creation of the loot table mechanic for chests. Loot tables can be programmed to behave differently depending on the luck effect level on the player who first opens the chest. This goes mostly unused, as there are no loot tables in the vanilla game that are programmed to be affected by luck, with one exception. Fishing loot is generated using the luck mechanic. In this case, the modifier comes from the "Luck of the sea" enchantment. Mojang was going to remove the luck mechanic a few updates after it's introduction, but kept it in after finding that many custom mapmakers were using the mechanic to great success. As such, all the relevant components have remained in the game, with the icon even receiving an updated texture in 1.14.
There is also a corresponding potion/status effect of Bad Luck ("minecraft:unluck"), which has the opposite effect. I've modified all the loot tables in the vanilla game to use the un/luck mechanic such that tools enchanted with higher levels of Fortune and Looting will drop rarer loot in larger quantities.
I've got a fun one: youll need a riptide trident, elytra and rain. Using the trident in place of fireworks in the rain allows you to travel thousands of blocks in seconds.
To be honest, its kinda odd to even think that Etho isnt recognizable, when most minecraft youtubers are doing so because of Etho. Thats not talking about literal contraptions being named after him, or him having been part of a LOT of Mojang official easter eggs(like the Etho Slab). When people hear Etho Hopper Clock, and do a quick google, they will see its named that due to Etho. Since the Etho Hopper Clock is pretty much the smallest controllable, variable clock that is possible in minecraft. Only needing 16 blocks to run from 1 second all the way to 4 minutes. This alone puts him forever into the hall of fame of minecraft. Like, seriously, I dont think Mojang could add something that would make a smaller clock that has variability in the same way that the EHC has, not even considering the fact that Etho's hopperclock can be tilable, leaving even more variability than other designs(other designs might have a larger range of time, but that is with less control, you can make an extremely accurate real life clock with Etho's version while still being able to tile it to reach hours).
one thing i think is really nice early on is that if you use fortune on crops that dont drop seeds; such as carrots; potatoes and nether wart; they actually yield more crops. with ones that do give seeds though; it only gives extra seeds
@@sarahlandis289 villagers, one of my favorite early librarians is the one selling Fortune books(preferably Fortune 3) as they make feeding up a village significantly easier due to how many different villagers buy coal. A fortune book and a hand full of villagers is one of the safest tickets to full enchanted diamond gear and tools
Regarding luck, the only thing it affects right now is fishing! The Luck of the Sea enchantment works using the luck system, each level giving you one extra point of luck for fishing. So, with a luck potion, you can reach the equivalent of Luck of the Sea 4 when fishing. Luck can be made to affect other things like mob drops, chest loot, and so on (pretty easily too), but Mojang hasn't done so for vanilla stuff as I believe they decided against using the luck system.
Minecraft had a Fortnite crossover, but not in Battle Royale, an old zombie apocalypse style mode where people chose a streamer in a tournament, getting a minecraft watermelon as a banner, still usable today in any mode.
The death ones are all things that Zed has done this season (and the armor stand one he did in season 7 lol) If you ever want to learn about quirky Minecraft, he's the dude to ask. Love that redstone glowiness! May have to try that in a fountain or something.
I'm sure Grian just saw Zedaph's various chat messages and was like "how did he just die to a dolphin?" (Fun fact dolphins can kill you.) But if you want to know obscure facts about the game a council of Zed, Etho, Doc, and Cub will probably know all of them.
The reason you can go up snow layers but not in the half slab case is that snow layers always show 1/8th block higher than the surface they represent. That's why when you walk on a single snow layer, your height is the same as if you were walking on the bare ground.
Which makes perfect sense since irl you always sink into the snow as it compresses beneath each footstep. If it’s not compressing then it’s not snow, it’s ice
another fact about the luck potion effect is that it will increase your chances of finding treasure while fishing, just like the luck of the sea enchantment there’s actually an internal stat called luck in the game that effects your fishing drops, and the luck potion simply increases that stat. the stat can also be changed via use of the /attribute command
7:24 The potion of luck only works when the game generates loot exclusively when fishing, there are some mods or plugins that give extra use to the potion of luck (when in chests) but chest loot generation's fortunes aren't boosted by it in Vanilla Minecraft
flying squids were a very very common thing when they were first added ! because their AI didnt really understand the difference between water and sky, you could be building something close enough to water for them to spawn, only to see them drift through your build 15 blocks up swimming through :3
Glitchy squids are very fun, if you put them in a single source block and enclose all sides so they can't get out they will constantly drift like 10-20blocks before rubber banding back into place. (They have always done this, atleast since back in the legacy console days) Unfortunately this set up is hard to do in survival, not impossible but probably very tedious to get the squid into position.
Bowls do actually have a 100% drop chance, but most of them get destroyed by the lightning (that's why the turtles also didn't drop seagrass) Luck only changes the fishing luck, not the chest loot.
The luck potion effect does affect the chest loot. What it does is that it increases the rate of rare items that can be found in that chest. So when Grian looted the map/paper chest from the shipwreck, it gave the rarest items that can generate in that chest (the only items that generate in that chest are paper, map, other stuff like that). In that case it won't be able to show it's actuall effects. But if you loot a blacksmith chest with luck effect you will have a better chance of getting diamonds from each chest you loot.
Fun fact, using commands you can obtain invisible item frames and armour stands Be careful with the armour stands though because you can’t punch the spot you placed them in to make them go away, they’ll always stay there without another command, unlike the item frames

The brief period where the killer bunny *was* in vanilla minecraft was pretty hilarious. Especially for hardcore worlds. You never expect the bunny inquisition.

Wow…that’s interesting
Thank you for this
THAT IS WHY
see my friend had my mending book
then he threw it on the floor
and we reached it at the same time
but he picked it up
and he did this 36 TIMES
Funny, I always thought it was the person that dropped the item that had priority

A few more fun facts related to what you shared:
- The reason you can fit between a block and a slab of snow is because the hitboxes of snow layers are actually 1/8 block shorter than they appear
- In addition to the Potion of Luck, there is also a Potion of Bad Luck which does what you expect. In the code, it is referred to as "unluck."
I was gonna say the same lol
Plus you can still get luck in survival through trading with fletchers for arrows of luck.

Re: Crawling in half-block
The reason you can do it with snow layers is because 4 snow layers is only 0.375 blocks high, instead of 0.5 like a slab.

Yes they where the best part of the whole video!
The reason you didn't find "lucky" loot in this video is because the vanilla loot tables don't utilize the Luck feature. You have to build your own loot tables in a datapack to use Luck. However, the vanilla game does let you get better fishing loot with Luck.
It definitely needs to be added into the game properly

Actually the luck effect grants you a higher chance of getting better loot at certain loot tables, like fishing. Luck actually does not improve the loot in chests. (Fun fact: Luck arrows were once obtainable in survival at 19w13a, a snapshot from 1.14, being obtained from fletcher villagers when the player had Hero of the Village)

Hopefully you find the facts interesting!
you also don't need to dry them in a furnace, you can just place them in the nether, or a dry biome as well if you're on bedrock

Haha yeah, and that a player can't push ignited tnt
The Luck effect also increases your fishing luck, and its chest loot buff *does* actually work if the chest's loot table is configured for it! None of the vanilla loot tables have that, though, but you might get more items if you have the Luck effect.
i thought it worked for blacksmith chests in villages?
With the thorns trick, you can make a lot of mobs invincible, and upon hitting them u die. This can be used on a pvp server to protect your base. You can also give a chest plate to a frog I believe.
When doing this it’s fun making my froggies invincible

At one point in the game, from 1.2 to 1.3 you could milk squids with a bucket. The reason is that to make the squid parts of the code from cows was re-used and the Devs forgot to remove the ability of players to milk them.

You will definitely notice the luck potion effect when you increase it to max. Also, keep in mind that it only works for chests spawned in new chunks loaded while you have the effect.
You can't expect the chest to just randomly fill up with diamonds before you open it lol
i thought it only affected fishing loottables
@@erm_5557 thats luck of the sea and is an enchantment, not a potion effect. idk if the luck potion actually affects fishing loot or not

@@Explodingtntfan just dungeon,, temple, mineshaft, etc. Chests

Yeah, the top layer doesn't have a hitbox. That's why there's no height difference when you walk onto on a single snow layer on the ground.
In other words, you always sink into the first snow layer, which makes sense.
Another way to create a slightly-larger-than-half gap is a top slab and mud or soul sand beneath. It's possible to get into that gap, too.
for some reason that broke my brain
@Another Duck and @Who Cares you guys are right, thank you! And yeah @Ian Corcoran haha I realized the way I explained it might have been dumb but it's way simpler to understand stand in game, basically using snow slabs it will always be one lower than what you've placed

The killer bunny is hilarious as I remember it delaying a Mindcrack UHC episode for about 5 minutes while the players debated whether or not a regular white rabbit was killer or not (it wasn't). It also has an absolute glass jaw as three dogs will take it down with little to no problem.
I'm fairly certain that UHC happened after they were removed anyway, so they never had anything to worry about.

Fun fact: Since boats "slide" off ledges, you can row in between empty space and a block to boat on land at the same speed you could on water.

I need a 10 minutes video of just Grian's excited R2D2 language
I've got a fun one: youll need a riptide trident, elytra and rain. Using the trident in place of fireworks in the rain allows you to travel thousands of blocks in seconds.
Im so happy that Every Hermit brings more clips of Etho or makes him more recognizable trough new audience (Etho fan since 2009)
To be honest, its kinda odd to even think that Etho isnt recognizable, when most minecraft youtubers are doing so because of Etho.
Cool, but who has fortune early game?
Wait really???

Does that mean you could make the snow one layer thicker, then actually fit in a 1/2 block space?
@@henryward5457 no
another fact about the luck potion effect is that it will increase your chances of finding treasure while fishing, just like the luck of the sea enchantment
there’s actually an internal stat called luck in the game that effects your fishing drops, and the luck potion simply increases that stat.
the stat can also be changed via use of the /attribute command
7:24 The potion of luck only works when the game generates loot exclusively when fishing, there are some mods or plugins that give extra use to the potion of luck (when in chests) but chest loot generation's fortunes aren't boosted by it in Vanilla Minecraft
I was planning to comment this, but now I don’t have to. Glad you got the record straight
flying squids were a very very common thing when they were first added ! because their AI didnt really understand the difference between water and sky, you could be building something close enough to water for them to spawn, only to see them drift through your build 15 blocks up swimming through :3
Glitchy squids are very fun, if you put them in a single source block and enclose all sides so they can't get out they will constantly drift like 10-20blocks before rubber banding back into place. (They have always done this, atleast since back in the legacy console days)
Unfortunately this set up is hard to do in survival, not impossible but probably very tedious to get the squid into position.
Bowls do actually have a 100% drop chance, but most of them get destroyed by the lightning (that's why the turtles also didn't drop seagrass)
Luck only changes the fishing luck, not the chest loot.
Fun fact, using commands you can obtain invisible item frames and armour stands
Be careful with the armour stands though because you can’t punch the spot you placed them in to make them go away, they’ll always stay there without another command, unlike the item frames
