    Salut!
What a treat! ....it is amazing how finding a few flakes of that stuff will put such a smile upon one's face! Looks like a choice spot, the stream composition and terrain seem most inviting! Gose Creek in both Morgan Monroe and Yellowood Forests can prove to be quite productive, along with Gold and Sycamore Creeks a few miles further north and west near Bradford Woods.... though you might be up towards Lafayette or Delphi. The Wabash, Eel, Wildcat, Mill, Tippecanoe, and Sugar Creek hold gold that side of Indy as well. Similarly, stretches of Big and Little Raccoon, Deer, and Sugar to the west are fine for working! ....but I will let on to my favorite stream that no one has hardly whispered or mentioned, except for the excellent smallmouth, spotted and rock bass angling; White Lick is a hidden gem, especially near unto where Abner Creek joins her western branch. I knew you are an avid artifact hunter, could have and probably should have assumed you also dabbled in prospecting as well!
....but don't just about all of us like combing the creeks, fields, and woods for whatever catches in our eyes, hoping some souvenir might turn up? Take Care My Friend!

Thanks for making the video! I’ve had gold fever for about a year now (I’ve been doing a lot of research), my plan was to make a trip out west because I didn’t think IN really had gold, but you’ve shown that’s not the case. I’m just curious and would like your advice, I know a lot of people go down to Brown county to pan, but in a comment below you mentioned “north of Indy”. I don’t wish to find your spots, but just get a better understanding of the state’s potential. I live in West Lafayette and a friend near Logansport, do you think it’s worth prospecting that far north if we found similar terrain, or would it be best to make the trip down further south? Thank you so much!

    • @RockHunterMark

Sugar creek is a good area, if you can find a place to go there. It’s hard to find a lot but there is definitely some in Indiana. Look for creeks with glacial cobble.

Can anyone tell me what this is? It is on bedrock in the White River. If I can send a picture, if not it is rectangular with a hole in the center and and a spot from the whole to the end on the small end.??

That is interesting and informative RH. I live in Morgan county Indiana. Had a retired Alaska gold miner tell me a long time ago that Morgan county had the largest gold deposit than any other county in the state. A place out side Martinsville called Bradford Woods was a gold camp in the 1800s.
I've never tried panning. I'm an arrowhead guy and a metal detector sometimes. I got a friend that panned 17 grams in 9 months. He said he worked hard at it to get that. I was at my gold buyers saleing a gold bracelet I found with a detector and a guy and his son was trading in 25 grams on a new slueth pump dredge. They found it in a year's time. In Morgan,Owen and Brown county's. No doubt it can be found around here, but I think a person would work thier self to death before they ever got rich from it. I did see a post that a panner got I think a 4 pennywieght nugget.
First I ever seen come from here. Finding them everyday might be worth working a way to an early grave. It's rare they come around though.
Thanks for sharing. That was a fun post.
    Good luck.

Very interesting! You’re absolutely right, you can’t really make money in gold in the Midwest. I enjoy doing it and sometimes buy flakes and set up sand with it to teach kids to pan at a summer camp. They really get a kick out of it. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Happy Hunting!
