I've lived in Livermore most of my life -- graduated from LHS -- and I love it. The culture is a bit different from other parts of the Bay area -- Some people of all colors have had some negative experiences, from what they've told me. The best advice I can provide for any one planning to move to Livermore is to be respectful to all, and you will receive it back. Remember, good and bad exist everywhere. Good luck 🙏🏻

Boy, do I remember Livermore. My family moved there in 1959 after my dad was hired as the first manager for the newly built Vine Theatre. He would later work as advertising manager for the Pleasanton Times. His love of theatre inspired him to found a small community theatre company known as Cask and Mask, which converted the old May School House to a small thirty seat theatre. When we first moved there the population was about 5,000 people and the biggest event was the annual Livermore Rodeo. There were only two vineyards back then, one owned by the Concannon Family and the other owned by the Wentie Brothers. There was only one combination police station/fire house/courthouse with a couple of fire trucks built in the 1930s and five powder blue Dodge Ramblers used by the local police force run by Chief Michaels. Our house was on North P Street, one block east of the original Livermore airport. Every Monday this DC-3 would take off loaded with nuclear scientists from the Lawrence Livermore Laboratories, aka the Rad-a-Lab (That's what we kids would call it) and fly them out to Alamogordo, returning them the following Friday. Whenever it landed, it flew almost directly over our house and rattled every window. The running joke was that thanks to the lab, we were Number 3 on the Russian Hit Parade should Nuclear war ever break out. Good Times. We moved out in 1974 after the population hit 50,000 and the town lost its small town charm.

@@LivingintheTriValley Anytime you live someplace is your time. Your memories are unique from mine and perhaps you have a greater appreciation for Livermore now being a small sized city. Most of the landmarks I remember are probably gone. I know the May School Theatre is. I don't know if the old police/fire station on First Street is still there. Every store front is probably different. I saw the airport move two miles west to avoid getting inundated with housing.... how's that plan working out? The old Carnegie Library building and park on fourth street was closed and turned into the parks and recreation offices, which ironically allowed many of the trees surrounding it die from lack of care. Someone bought the old Victorian mansion on the south side of town and moved it over towards the Concannon vineyard. I wonder if it's still there or has been moved again. I know the Vine Theatre is still there, but it looks nothing like it use to. People change, and as they change, their environment changes to reflect new attitudes. Appreciate what you have and what you create. It may not suit everyone, but then it doesn't have to... just those who create and live with it.

The Vine. I remember going to movies and then to Baskin-Robins afterward. Used to go see double features there back in the 80's all the time. I still remember going to see Dune there with my sister and parents. According to my mother, it was the first theater in the area or maybe nice theater and my mom and aunt (from Pleasanton) used to go there all the time back in the late 60s.

Not cause your intoxicated but maybe your license plate lamp is out on one side. Then they will escalate that contact with you, drunk or not, into an arrest. I was born and raised in Livermore. I went to Marilyn Avenue Elementry, Jucntion Ave. Middle School and Granada High School. It's has a small town vibe, slower pace and great place to raise a family. I did move away in the 90's and miss it tremendously. Hearing those home prices though, I'll move back if I win the lottery.
True that much of the town is a bit of a drive to get to the freeway, but I never thought of that as a con. Our family mostly took Stanley Blvd to Pleasanton to visit the grandparents. Also Del Valle is an excellent close get-away. I've been there countless times and the camp ground is great, but can get a bit crowded when full. I can recall going to the top of the road just before the bridge to view Halley's Comet. The whole town must've been up there with telescopes all over. Fun times.
Another great area is Sycamore Grove. A nice little park perfect for bike rides or just quiet walks. I used to bike from there up the the dam. Good ride.
Would be nice if you took some video footage of the area. Google street view is alright, but not the same.

Moved to Livermore in 1964, I love the small town feel even though it has grown. However
the changes to the downtown, like the parking garages and new housing has taken away that small town feel. They should close First St to traffic, divert it onto Railroad Ave and 4th St and make First St pedestrian only. It would give downtown a friendlier feeling and a place people want to hang out in
