Grew up in Pleasanton late 60s threw 70s many fond memories. We lived on Angela St a few blocks from the fairgrounds. Watched George Foreman spare many times, Oh the Roller Derby my grandmother loved watching, lol the wrestling matches also. My father was a Jockey then horse trainer, we spent many hours at the track. The simple life we lived back then only 1 stop light, can't forget the smell from the cheese factory.

I was born and raised in Pleasanton. Lived there for 20 years from 1993 to 2013. Great town but it has changed a lot. Used to be a small town, now it’s a small city.

It’s mind boggling how paranoid the comments to this video are! Your kids are not that special. The only thing teachers want is for everyone to be treated with respect in public. No body wants to indoctrinate them into anything but kindness towards others. Do these stupid parents not realize that general courtesy and diplomacy in public towards others will only get their ugly kids to go further in life?

Public schools in CA are a scam, a complete scam. Teachers are very well paid starting around $80k. If you have a Masters, just 2 more years of school, you get $100+k. A principal will make $200,000+ CA spends $22,000 per kid in K-12. Classroom of 30 kids is $660,000/year spent. Tons of money going to other things. After spending all that money a huge portion of the kids don't know crap about anything. 13 years in school and they can't write a proper paragraph or have basic math skills and they sure as hell do not know history.

I almost disagree, the average computer using a teaching program will be more successful than some of these teachers. And you won’t deal with the issue of a teacher singling a kid out and having bias because of some incident between the teacher/student. Kid are highly capable of using technology to teach themselves. They simply need the proper guidelines within whatever topic they are supposed to be learning, and I’d bet soon we will see tech be more effective and less costly than most teachers

Teachers are always wanting more money they could be homeless not saying they don’t deserve some more money then let’s group together the homeless make them shower, make them get papers says they’re legal in this country put them in a homeless, high rise And make them be on drug programs to make them drug free and alcohol free they can afford all that and they’re homeless? Someone commented that teachers should get raises, depending on graduation rates. Will their graduating kids that are very very stupid. You don’t have to know basic math you don’t have to know how to read hardly- etc.. So graduation rate should not matter to graduating all kinds of dumb dumbs

Its because the school system is skewed up, and rigid. Teachers today care more about pushing thier ideologies on to kid, and brainwashing them more then teaching them. Schools aren't about facts; logic; understanding; creativity, and free thoughts, its a detention centers to warp, and manipulate kind. Kids aren't allowed free thoughts, and expressions, but are instead told to sit down; shut up, and repeat everything the teacher says. If you want that kind of teaching there are classes online; lectures, and documentaries, all on the internet, and you don't have to pay for school. Kids are failing all across this country cause they are not being taught ask questions themselves; to think for themselves, or question why things are the way they are, but instead taught to mimic what is said, and to never actually think for themselves. If they want pay then do a better job, and stop manipulate children. Best option is homeschooling.

Teachers have shown themselves to be incompetent at their job making California one of the worst educated States or places in the world at the k-12 level for PUBLIC schools. The majority of the teachers prioritize politics grooming and social actions over the actual teaching of kids. There will always be a few amazing teachers that do their job well but if you have the majority of the teachers failing to do their jobs properly or promoting other teachings instead of educational needs then people will always look negatively on the teachers. Just like the majority of any job anywhere around the world, you need to perform and give results before you can ask for higher pay. There are performance evaluations for a reason

Well with marquee cities like SF and Oakland in flames (homelessness and crime thru the roof) which is one of the major reasons people move here, there's another fact that should be mentioned. Also 510 and 925 are completely different planets when it comes to culture and weather. 510 has actual bay weather as it's touching sf bay and people are usually within themselves especially in Richmond (Hercules and Pinole you might get somewhat of a cookie cutter personal neighborhood feel in certain neighborhoods). 925 is hot like hell and has Sacramento weather and Tri Valley, you can definitely get that suburban personal feel with neighbors and see familiar faces around town.

Looks like a different world compared to the 90's. Most of downtown is being leveled with the high rise invasion creeping in. Just a damn shame, really. The high cost of living probably drove a lot of undesirables out of there, which was a problem back in the day. I didn't care to walk around Livermore after dark in the 90's and early 2000's when I visited a longtime childhood friend who moved out there from Pleasanton in the early 90's. It's probably quite different now though.
