Verstappen has the knack Hamilton used to have where even his terrible days where things go wrong still end with him scoring well, whereas for others they just won’t score on a bad day. That's the difference with champion material. That's why Checo won't have a chance in the drivers champ even though given with a dominant car like in 2023.
Red Bulls behavior is just crazy different compared to just three years ago.
They kicked Albon and Gasly out for much less compared to the bad performance of Perez right now. I just do not get how they go from "6th place in the second best car is not good enough" to "oh you crashed again and did not even make it into Q2, that's fine, here is a contract extension.".
It just crazy how they tolerate this absolutely terrible performance during a time they need a good second driver to secure the constructors championship.
It drives me insane, because I just can not comprehend why they are keeping Perez, where is the cut throat Red Bull we all know.
I think you forget how far ahead Max was of Albon and Gasly. Max was always top 5 and a frequent podium finisher. Albon and Gasly were hovering around top 10.
That being said Perez has now dropped below that level.

Well peformance wise yes, but considering how much Perez bring in with sponsor money they need that cash to cover all expenses while nor Albon or Gasly brought near that amount to team. I am 100% sure they have some clause in his new contract that will let them release him

Even funnier how Yuki just simply didn't go off at all!! people need to stop pretending that Riccardo is worth anything but his big smile. Too many F2 Champions and top threes have not been recruited into formula one, and it's bad drivers like Zhou, Sargeant, and past-their-prime drivers that arent currently much good like Danny Ric and Perez, and probably bottas in 2 years, although bottas is still quite good currently, that have caused this. Yuki deserves the 2nd red bull seat more than Danny. Sainz deserves it more than them both.

Even when his extension was on the line in past years, he was doing poorly. Should have been already replaced end of last year. Personally I never got why they hirdd him at all, I always thought Hulkenberg would have been a better and more consistent option.
The only thing that probably saved him last year was Ricciardo breaking his wrist.

He is still performing worse than Yuki, but people forgive him because he was a good driver in 2016. Lawson smoked them both last year, and people can't help but defend him unconditionally. Once you drive out of the garage, you should have to exit the pitlane at the pitlane limiter speed, no pausing. If you want to wait longer you should stay in the garage for longer.
Just put some sort of minimum speed limit on the fast lane. If people are quing while the light is red, they are allowed to be stopped in place and once they move again they have to adhere to the soeed limit. Or could even ban quing so there would be no need to police that. If a driver has to go slower than the minimum, give them a fine/penalty or if they were forced by other driver then give the other driver unsafe release or something.
Or sit in their pit box instead of pit exit.
Or force a driver next in line to leave the pitlane a certain amount of specified time after the light turns green or the car ahead crosses the pit exit line
It definitely wasn't Kevin's fault that he was eliminated in Q1. If Haas hadn't pitted him in the final minutes, he would have likely advanced to Q2. Hulkenberg also nearly missed out on Q2 due to that poor decision.

Yeah I think Ocon had some issue too with either the timing or traffic. Crazy track evolution sadly means that a few are going to get it wrong, especially smaller teams risk Q1 elimination in such cases.

Perez should not have been given a contract until the end of the season. His performance drops to zero when he knows he's safe. Happened this and last year.
And this is worse than ever before.
From what I've seen, it isn't guaranteed that Perez gets to drive next year. His contract has a performance clause, which is why I think he was able to get a 2 year contract.
I'm a Perez fan,and I'm really worried. He really needs to stay out of trouble tomorrow, especially on that first lap.

Perez is shit right now but he has still outqualified Sargent in the majority of races, after all he is in a Red Bull. Sargent has only outqualified Perez in three out of twelve races (so far).

The need to install a minimum speed in the pit. Or even better a fixed speed. So in the pit lane only on the limiter. If they line up for red at the end of the pit they should just get a green light and it should turn red after a car has passed, stay red for 3-5secs and then go green for the car.
If you dont drive away immediately when the light turns green, you get a 10place grid drop. Problem solved.

I hear you lads, however mistakes and "unlucky" situations are part of racing. That's what you always say "Max doesn't make mistakes" You can't make excuses, it's all about getting that lap. Max car damage is also part of racing.

Ricciardo could actually be a valid alternative for Red Bull, at least for a try run. In the past, we have seen drivers struggle in one team but improve a lot in another. For instance, Gasly was bad at Red Bull but insane during his years in Alpha Tauri. Even Hamilton struggled a lot during the time when the Mercedes was slow and improved as the car improved

I think it’s interesting neither of you mentioned LH GR or Merc in any of your predictions. So caught up in the McLaren Hype. Just based on qualifying any one of those three could’ve been biggest good surprise. Points in the table.
What’s even more wild is that in your quali recap you also don’t mention Merc LH or pole sitter GR. MB in its first front row lock out in TWO years!

Max being that close with floor damage is just insane
floor damage tends to cost you about 1-2 tenths so its not really that 'insane' he has the fastest car and made a mistake.
@@ddha0000 he lost 100 downforce points initially, that's a second. A significant part of that was fixed, but 1-2 tenths is low.

Yeah he screwed up himself, but he was also unlucky that Perez' crash put him on slicks in the rain when he needed to set a time. Also, he has not the fastest car. McLaren is faster, and I am interested to see the Mercedes' race pace.

As a Checo fan and a Danny Ric fan I'd love to see what Danny Ric could do in the Red Bull car to see what the difference would be
It’s tough because I’d love to see a Russell or Antonelli title win at Merc next year, but I don’t want to see questions of has Hamilton just missed out on his (official) 8th title again.
Verstappen to Merc also moving closer to being possible, would be a big boost to Merc after losing Hamilton and would implode Redbull
Too early to tell regarding next year, Merc just turned it around out of nowhere when many thought they wouldn't. Ferrari will come closer to the front again, just unfortunare to have a bad update package when 2 of your rivals have good one's.
They were stopped from slowing down/stopping in the pit exit lane to build a gap so now they do it in the pit lane.

If they made a rule like, the timer runs out but the last car that crosses the line to start a lap after the timer ends can finish the lap but that also has flaws cause of track evolution so there is no real solution
My new pet conspiracy theory is that Checo has the goods on Horner, and was the source of the initial leak - just a portion of the whole stash to indicate that he’s serious. Then, he Wormtongue’s his way into Jos V’s ear re: Horn Dog Horner, and Marko rallies round Horner to shake the entire basket a bit. He gets a low-pressure seat with constant Horner praise, and keeping Jos on a short leash given his unchecked ego and arrogance to keep things from getting too comfortable.
It makes sense - and impossible to prove wrong. 🤣😉

Sooo, Mat & Tommy again going at it on Magnussen. Sorry to seem smart, BUT: Magnussens car was damaged by Bearman (supported by telemetry) and Magnussen doesn't have the new upgrade for Silverstone. Furthermore, the Team sent him out early in Q1 which turned out to be a bad idea. So all in all, Magnussen was "cursed" from the start. That said, it was inspiring to watch Verstappens last lap in his damaged car.
I read somewhere that Liam Lawson is scheduled a test with Red Bull. Is that true? If it is, does that means something? We'll have to wait and see.

This has been happening for 3 years now, Checo has a good season start, completely falls apart during the European circuits, and then slowly recovers later on and people think that he can change.
Waiting in the pit lane to build a gap, is allowed. The logic is that it's safer to do it on the pit lane than to do it on the track.
I'm surprised they don't know it because the commentators have said this in almost every qualifying session.
