Didn’t expect your age answer, but no judgement at all here. I appreciate your well-spoken manner and sophistication. ♥️ I’ve experienced some age bias myself, as someone who looks about 15 years younger. I’m a nurse and I’ve worked with both adults and teens for the past 3 years. Parents and adult patients talk to me a certain way until they realize that I’m close to their age…and that’s when I see/hear their level of respect increase. And younger patients open up to me because they think we’re only 5-10 years apart; and then I feel them pull back a little when they find out that I’m almost 40. It’s a struggle 🙂; but one that I’m blessed to have I guess.

I completely relate to the age thing. I am now 22 and when people find out my age they just assume I don’t understand and/or act like an adult per se but I always try to be eloquent in how I present myself. I am almost done with my degree and they still think I am not knowledgeable on information including what I study. Even when I was fresh out of high school it was hard because I went to college and everyone wanted to party and whatnot but I didn’t want too. However I was still grouped and expected that I party just due to my age (and that’s including assumptions from my own parents).

Tbh I don’t know why people think automatically that when you’re this age, they automatically assume you do this and that. I also was in the position where people thought of me as someone who partied every night but it just never was my sort of thing.

Didn’t expect your age answer, but no judgement at all here. I appreciate your well-spoken manner and sophistication. ♥️ I’ve experienced some age bias myself, as someone who looks about 15 years younger. I’m a nurse and I’ve worked with both adults and teens for the past 3 years. Parents and adult patients talk to me a certain way until they realize that I’m close to their age…and that’s when I see/hear their level of respect increase. And younger patients open up to me because they think we’re only 5-10 years apart; and then I feel them pull back a little when they find out that I’m almost 40. It’s a struggle 🙂; but one that I’m blessed to have I guess.

I completely relate to the age thing. I am now 22 and when people find out my age they just assume I don’t understand and/or act like an adult per se but I always try to be eloquent in how I present myself. I am almost done with my degree and they still think I am not knowledgeable on information including what I study. Even when I was fresh out of high school it was hard because I went to college and everyone wanted to party and whatnot but I didn’t want too. However I was still grouped and expected that I party just due to my age (and that’s including assumptions from my own parents).
