You unlock the lock pops up and you slide the zipper under and lock it up. Used for dropping deposits at a banks night drop box. The banks opens and makes the deposit and you pick up the empty bag to do it again. I used to do this for the 3 stores my folks owned in the 70s-80s
Looks like someone got to that safe way before you did, and my guess is that they..had the key! If I found a safe that actually had surprises in it...I might document it on film but not share it!

Small shape charges would have worked. Of course you'd have to find out the location of the door lock pins.

I use to work at a bank and I'd open the Dropbox safe in the morning to make people s deposits

Why not cut the hinges?
It has locking rods inside the door under the hinges. You'd have to cut those too which means you'd have to cut through the door.
You should have gotten a mirror and watched in the mirror.
