  • "Jabberwocky" by Lewis Carroll is a genius nonsense poem that I loved reading when I was a young child. In this piece, I tried to vividly depict the moods I feel throughout the course of the poem through music: creepy, mysterious, adventurous, heroic, and fantastical. I was super happy with how the performance went, thanks to my colleagues: Alan Truong, conductor; Colby Kleven, narrator; Dylan Hamm, concertmaster; and the rest of the Double Vision Orchestra.
I usually post compositions and performances on my second channel: ‪@JamesPreucilViolistComposer‬ (you can find my first string quartet and a new solo viola piece posted there recently!) but I thought this work fits into the content style of Viola King because of its accessibility and simple concept. Of course, there are also some excellent viola moments throughout.
I'm excited to see what everyone thinks!

This was my first composition for orchestra and one of my two huge composition projects this year! I usually post compositions on my second channel @jamespreucilviolistcomposer but I thought this piece would fit Viola King content style-and I was super proud of how it turned out. Some of my other recent works are my first string quartet: ruclips.net/video/cxv88a6v04I/видео.htmlsi=4m5FZZuvTn9FRyPU and a new solo viola piece, both published on my second channel (the one I’m commenting from). What was your favorite moment from Jabberwocky?

I had a question is a 17 » viola worth it I really want a big sound and deeper deep notes.

Awesome!! Loved the eerie atmosphere you created with different strings techniques and the beautiful melodies especially in the winds! And of course splendid use of viola!
