This is - bar none - the best video instruction for pantographs. You taught me this in a class waaaay back when I attended a class in Columbus, OH. Please, never take it down! I refer to it every single time I do a panto, as I do them occasionally, although not for every quilt. Absolutely invaluable.
This is a FABULOUS tutorial. Thank you so much. I probably watched this video 20 or more times but “I GOT IT”. I will probably watch this one or two more times for sure. Your are a great instructor. I feel more confident to use a pantograph now.
Your tutorial was so much help to me for conquering my fear in trying a pantograph. The quilt is on the frame and I've made two passes across the quilt with the pantograph and loving it!! Thank you!
Linda, you are an inspiration! I am learning so much from your videos. Just purchased my first long arm (used) and am having a blast. May start a small quilting business if I get brave enough!
This was fun! I just watched a 27 min video and I don't even own a long arm, nor sadly have the money for one! This was a great video. I didn't know what they would have a light back there and why on earth handles, but it makes since. Plus for people like me, a stencil like that would be perfect! I thought I would have to put chalk Marks on it. It looks like fun to have a long arm.
I was able to find a shop where they let you go through a class to get certified to use there machines. Now I make my quilt and go there to quilt it. Which is good for me because I can't afford a machine. Nor do I have a place for it. Also they are there to do the maintenance on the machine and if the tension isn't right, they are there to call. Also, it gets me away from my house with people who have something in common with me. I've completed three now. Working on four and five. Hopefully before Christmas.
This tutorial was so great! Thank you so much for making it. My longarm was delivered today and your videos make me extra excited (and prepared) to use it! Thank you.
I wish I had seen this when I first started. I thought I could figure out how to line the pattern up on the 2nd row. Couldn't watched a RUclips video from someone else and then I saw yours. It all made sense. Thank you very much - now back to my quilt
Thanks for the clear lesson. My first pantograph is coming along. I did get a little off on the first roll and just touched on my existing pattern so I stopped and rechecked and refocused just a smidge.. your tips are so valuable
Absolutely fascinating! Thanks for a great lesson. I'm brand new to LAing. Just took my Certification Class 36 hrs ago! Really exciting. McKinney TX? Wow. Wish I'd known. My DD lived in there for 2 yrs. Hope to meet you one day. I've always been a big fan!! Thanks again. Ive subbed 🤩
Oh wow... great tutorial. Ive been nervous about pantos for fear of the placement of the future rows. You explained it so well that im goin for it! Thank you sooooo much.
Thank you so much I am making my first KING QUILT and I wanted it to look good so choose to use pantograph. Not knowing anything about the way to do this I appreciate your instruction which helped so much. Thank you
Omg lol I was quilting a quilt for a very dear friend who has now passed. I wasn't paying enough attention and quilted right through my finger. I broke the needle which luckily didn't get stuck in my finger. When you said respect for the machine, I had to laugh because I learned my lesson.
Thank you so much for a great tutorial! I have a question...I’m doing my first Panto on a quilt that has a small stop border and a larger border. I don’t want to do the Panto on the borders, because I want to do a scalloped border. How do I stop the Panto exactly along the edge without going into the border. I can use your trick of course by using painters tape, but I’m concerned about the Panto flowing on the border. Any suggestions?
Linda I'm a newbie just getting my machine. Question can you better explain about moving the laser light on the side once rolled if the quilt is not square.
Thank you! I've been afraid of long-arm quilting because I know I can't use those plastic templates. This looks easy. Do you have a specific machine for this?
Great Video! I am new to this, I didn't know you were supposed to put plastic on the top of the pantograph, where do you get the plastic from? None with my machine. Can you do a panto without using the plastic, what is the purpose.
We sell the plastic, but it is 24" wide and either 10, 12 or 14 ft long. The plastic help hold it down and lets you make marks with a dry erase as needed or put tape on it to make your markings without messing up the panto.
No there isn't, but you should be able to just go up to the next roll, quilt it out and then rotate up the same way as a single one. Just follow the red dots for advancement.
Linda's Electric Quilters the second row of this panto is intersecting with the previous row. Right now I am just advancing and move the laser to a different point each time and making sure the rows aren't running into each other. I was hoping there was a better way. lol
I am only able to view about half of this video, it is showing as being 14 minutes long, but comments are indicating it is much longer. Has the video been truncated? Or is there a second half somewhere? Thank you!
Yes you would baste across the top, then the right side, then go to the left side. You will only baste the area that you are quilting, then roll and baste down the sides as you go.
If you have a GS 1 table we have the plastic pattern shield you can purchase. If its a Home pro table, we have plastic you can purchase, you would just have to secure it to the top with screws that it has. Is it a white table top or black one? What is the width of it?
You could use the new style plastic. You would just take of the white edge covers on your table top and slip the plastic underneath. We dont have those online, but you could call us at 972-542-4000 and ask for Pattern Shield for HP table.
You can send an email to contact@gammill.com and they will be give you the right information for your country on this machine. They have dealers all over the world.

I’ve done that on an industrial machine and didn’t notice until I realized it wasn’t stitching and there was blood on the cloth. Whoops! Lol.
Hi, this is the best tutorial I have seen on RUclips. You talk about lining in this tutorial, what is lining? Is it the same as batting?
Very informative great video

Hi Linda, very excellent.... Question, does this machine comes with its own pattern
This machine is a handguided machine and normally will come with 1 pattern. However, there are thousands of pantograph patterns online to buy.
Great Video! I am new to this, I didn't know you were supposed to put plastic on the top of the pantograph, where do you get the plastic from? None with my machine. Can you do a panto without using the plastic, what is the purpose.

Are there any videos showing how to quilt a double row pantograph?
No there isn't, but you should be able to just go up to the next roll, quilt it out and then rotate up the same way as a single one. Just follow the red dots for advancement.

Did you baste across the top and sides before you began?
Yes you would baste across the top, then the right side, then go to the left side. You will only baste the area that you are quilting, then roll and baste down the sides as you go.
What is the name of the pantograph you used?
It is called Baby Curls. You can get it from our online store.

I just purchased a Gammill Premiere. I noticed the plastic on the bed for the pantograph. Is this purchased or can I make it myself with vinyl?
If you have a GS 1 table we have the plastic pattern shield you can purchase. If its a Home pro table, we have plastic you can purchase, you would just have to secure it to the top with screws that it has. Is it a white table top or black one? What is the width of it?
The table top is white and the measurement is 20” between the rails.
You could use the new style plastic. You would just take of the white edge covers on your table top and slip the plastic underneath. We dont have those online, but you could call us at 972-542-4000 and ask for Pattern Shield for HP table.
