  • 8mm cine film shot by me over a period of 1 week in June 1966 ( film which I also took on the isle of Wight is contained in another video on my channel).
Locations include Waterloo , Guildford , Eastleigh , Winchester , Southampton , Wareham and the Swanage branch , Weymouth bank , Brockenhurst and the Lymington branch , and Bournmouth.
The video has an authentic soundtrack much of which was recorded at the time of filming.

Fantastic quality colour footage ! Reminds me of my 1950/60's train spotting days, and skiving off school for a day at Clapham Junction ! And us kids shed bashing at Nine Elms, Feltham and Guildford MPD's. Thanks for uploading because they were great days in my life.

I'm really blown away by the amount and quality of film footage you have. It's such an amazing archive of everyday railway operation the very year before I was born. I love watching it. Thanks 🙏

Wonderful footage! I remember the Pacifics arriving under the soot stained overall roof at Waterloo, and letting off steam. This brings it all back!

Excellent footage of 34101 Hartland (now preserved at the NYMR) and the now preserved Swanage Railway.

Really excellently shot footage. Thank you.
I grew up in Plymouth amongst SR steam 62-65. Fond memories & in the preservation era maintained & worked engines on the Swanage branch with a lot of ex Bournemouth & West Country footplatemen.
    Happy days. 😃

Amazing filming and you have matched the sounds very well. I have fond memories of holidays in Fleet in 1961/2 spending most of my days on the platforms.

12:40 anyone recognize this branch line location? Is it Corfe or Colyton?

      Hi,
The shot you asked about is at Corfe Castle on the Swanage branch and was taken from the ruins of the castle.
      Peter.
