    Just wanted to say thank you for everything you have taught me. I have wanted a KitchenAid Mixed for 40 years. My husband bought me one for last Christmas as well as a food processor! Hadn’t use since I received it! I was afraid! I came across a good deal on garlic. I’ve made my first garlic pucks in my 72 years! Dehydrated onions. Set my tomatoes,peppers, chives,sage ,thyme out to sun! Our last frost date is the 20th. Garden was plowed this am! Thank you! Thank you!🍅🫑🧄❤️

    Have you ever watched "the veggie boys" Chanel? Its a HUGE damily operation i think in Pennsylvania. They have many greenhouses, lots of acreage and grow a bit if everything it seems. They use a little metal stick ( maybe the size of a nail) to help transplant their seedlings. I guess its the fastest way to simply get tjose tiny seedlings into the soil. I think you woukd really enjoy their show! I cant even figure out how many generations work together. They even have a family owned country store where they sell their goods! From eggs from their hundreds of chickens, the beef that they raise and sell, of course thousands of flowers and the veggies that they grow. Its a really cool chanel!

    Sweet potatoes, I lay them on top of soil, then as they get to 12 -16 inches I burry it like a V shape let the end out of soil, then continue and allow them to grow. When I've gotten my area covered I bury the original sweet potato. I've done this for 3 years with great results each plant grows roots and puts off potatoes.

    Just a quick FYI hint from another channel, on dealing with gnats:
    1) From City lot gardening - after planting seedlings, top the soil with 1/4 to 1/2 of fine silica sand. It prevents the fungus gnats from setting up shop in the soil.
    2) From provident preppers - using a dilute neem oil solution will kill any gnats.

    I think you don't need to worry about your Dahlias being droopy. They are having some transplant shock. I also wouldn't up pot and trim at the same time. That is 2 stressors at the same time.

  • @gailpetchenik3048
    @gailpetchenik3048 7 месяцев назад +7

    It’s better to top off the plants awhile after transplanting. It gives the plant x to get over the transplant shock. Topping them & transplanting at the same x really stresses out the plants. It’s “double shock”.

    I was able to plant some things and have some things growing inside from seed in FL last month. I am now away visiting my husband who is temporarily station in Korea w/the Air Force. My college aged daughter is house sitting & watching my plant babies. Last night I had a nightmare that they had all of my seeds out, opened, and was handling/playing with them. Hahaha Gardening is no joke! Lol

    Becky you are going to LOVE the lace veil petunias. They’re stunning in bloom with the ruffled edges. I can’t get enough of them. Love love love!!!
    Edited to add: if you have small blocks that are very “rooty”, you can use a dinner knife to gently separate the blocks without the blocks crumbling. Place the knife between the last two rows of blocks and gently push the row away from the rest. Blocks come away perfectly in tact without disturbing the roots. I also use a cheap metal spatula from the Dollar Tree. It works great moving entire sections of soil blocks or separating them from each other.

    I ended up with TONS of little volunteer tomatillos this year! They were in little clumps of 20 or so where I had missed picking up some tomatillos that fell last year. The little papery shells were still holding together with all the little sprouts coming out!

    I would highly encourage you to try the soil method with your sweet potatoes. In my experience, it is quicker AND you don't have to root the slips afterwards. The slips will already have roots attached to them when you separate them from the sweet potato. I've been using this method for the last four years and it's awsome!

    How exciting to have seeds in the ground! My area isn't ready for planting yet but I am slowly doing what I can manage. I like your method of tackling the list - one thing at a time - so it isn't overwhelming. I keep telling myself that anything I do is a step forward and I am making it better than the day before. It is very humbling but also rewarding. Thanks for being "real".

    After you plant out your flowers, I hope you have enough room for all the veggies you want to plant to keep your pantry stocked for a year. Good luck. Your trellises should be beautiful

    I’m 57 and two of my three children have already moved out so I am starting to become an empty nester and I noticed I really started Gardening more. I bought two greenstalks last year and some raised metal beds. This year, though… I went big and had someone build me six raised cedar beds, and I bought a few more fruit trees and I created a TikTok account and just recently started a RUclips channel that will mostly be for gardening. My grandfather worked for the Brooklyn botanic gardens, and I always garden and with him until he died when I was 12. It’s incredible how my love for it has come back all these years later.

    Don't worry about the droop in the plants too much , any thing you do to them gives a little trauma , they should recover. Great amounts of flowers you have going on , can't wait to see them growing away in the garden, it's going to be lovely Becky , you have so much dedication and energy to put in , just amazing.
