The mugshot just like a box you have to put water in it and slosh it around. There's holes in the back to let the water run out. Then pump up the mud runner. You'll see that it pumps up much easier
I found if you wet and lubricate the piston both sides before you start and use your weight on the pump its not so bad. The first time I used mine I did 99 internal angles in 4 hours including one break which was OK I thought. I am old now and had to go home for a sleep but was still pretty happy about it, just wish I had it 20 or 30 years ago..
I bought my mudrunner because of your videos lol. Actually I got into auto tool’s because of your videos and all I buy is tapetech. With that said thank you for everything you do.
I have heard other people say they are hard to load as well. But I want to say remember someone saying there is a trick to it. Good job Brother! Live from Edwardsville, Illinois
Make sure the piston ring isn’t pinched inside the cylinder, also silicone spray lubricant helps. My mudshot isn’t too hard to fill, but I always elevate my pump to about 2 feet off the ground
I just purchased a Mudshot, was hard to pump fill the first time so I called Level5 , they said to lube gaskets with 3 in 1 oil because the tube was dry, once I adjusted the flow it worked very well. Like any new tool, have to learn the little tricks.
Personally I’ve used the mudshot ive ran about 1,000 sheets with it and it still is very hard to pump up. I use 3 in 1 oil ,silicone and it makes it a little easier but still to hard to pump up. I bought a whole dewalt set and for the price I’m very disappointed. I should’ve went with tape tech.
Mud runner works with the gas pressure in the handle. Have to twist the handle to cause mud to flow. Works except only one side of the handle is knurled, the other side is smooth. With any mud on your hands, it will slip. Contacted tape tech and they assured me both sides were knurled. Apparently the 2 I’ve had were special! Been sitting on the shelf for 3 years
Check the screen at the bottom of your pump. I've discovered some trash or something restricting the mud from loading the chamber. Also remember the mudshot spring will age and weaken over time, thus making it easier to load because of less resistance!
@@timstrausbaugh3012 How is the graco pump holding up? I’m considering buying one for my dewalt mudshot but it worries me that it’s going to kill the motor with the pressure! Hand pumping 82lb of pressure it’s hard doing it all day
@@omarzepeda7475 It's holding up really well. I haven't had any problems with it at all. The impressive thing to me is how long it lasts on one battery. Maybe it's just me but I kinda thought pumping up that MudShot would wear down a battery pretty quick. That's not the case at all. Now I'm getting older and ain't putting out as much production as my younger days but it has held up and I'm still really impressed with it.
@@timstrausbaugh3012 Thanks for the response! I been trying to buy the graco pump for a few months but I wasn’t sure if it was capable to load the mudshot or maybe it’s just me that finds it super hard to pump it manually
hey when i first got my mud shot i was sad like only i buy tools that don’t work well i got sick of it and if you adjust the nuts where you fill it and where it comes out you can fix how hard it fills and if it’s not coming out right hope it helps

@@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1 Thanks for you response. How long will it last until it gets to that point? I think I'm leaning more towards getting the mud runner now.

im a property flipper. I just got my first angle heads. they only had the angle box and it was to to expensive to buy with a pump. so for now i put mud in the corner with a toilet bowl brush and set the tape in and then put a little mud on top with the brush and then use the 2.5" angle head to smooth it out with just a pole. im gonna try to do the same thing with the 4" angle head and brush for the second coat. i dont do production work so this will be easy to do and clean and maintain.

It's so weaker than in first two thirds, that easier to load again. Is it normal for all mudrunners or something is wrong with my one? In your videos I don't see a such behavior in your device.

Same here tall boy pump. Lots of leverage so no problem pumping.

It might

I've got a question. The mudshot is gas assisted right? So what gas do I use to fill it up when it runs out and how do I fill it up please?
They are sealed you can't do anything except have it rebuilt
@@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1 Thanks for you response. How long will it last until it gets to that point? I think I'm leaning more towards getting the mud runner now.
I've had my mudrunner many years and it still work
By gas assisted, they are referencing a sealed gas prop rod, similar to what closes a storm door only in reverse.
Oil it up and add a little water in the back when pumping it up, itll loosen up after a few uses.

i have the same worries
Mine is not hard at all to pump up make sure the vent holes on the bottom are all clear
That's where I oiled it they were clear
I wonder if the oil actually created the seal for making the back pressure not release?
Are the tapetech angel heads compatibel with the dewalt mud shot?

Surprised they haven't made a cordless power tool mud pump.they did grease guns.derp.
They do it's battery operated
Pop the tube and spray it with bazooka oil or silicone spray
my mudshot has become a lot easier to fill after using it for a year. I think they are just a little stiff when they are new
That makes sense
They did however say to NOT use WD 40 because it will dry out seals over time.
Ya got to replace seals overtime anyway
Mud-runner needs the rubber on the handle with out it very hard to turn the handle.
