    I've never used a guide to it, and on my first play through as a kid, I remember basically giving up on the plot and just having fun raising my digimon, seeing which new ones I could get and ended up getting the badge for being in the digital world for 30 years. I did eventually finish it. Got good enough at the opening that I got my starting Agu to MetalGreymon a few times. That's a strong start.

    The original Digimon World is in my top 5 video games of all time, and top 3 on PS1 an absolute classic, the game just thrusts you into a mysterious world with no hints on how to do anything. Just like the kids in the show. As an adult I enjoy this game far more.

    It's a good game but not for everyone, the fact of you need time for make a good Digimon (or become Numemon) and after few hours he die and start over it's not the best thing for the most people, sure was annoying even for me at first but after I understand how the system work and how you must training the Digimon even if he die he became more easily and enjoyable to try some new types of Digimon, like Bug types Digimon, for me the game is not a masterpiece but I certainly would not call it a bad game either, you just have to take some time to understand how it works and to Enjoy this raw little diamond

But I am worried to mess up my dino friend so I turned my game off after saving. What should I do? Train? Try to teach new moves? Just go to Dinosaur Island and hope I can beat Meteormon?

    • @InfiniteComboReviews
      @InfiniteComboReviews  Год назад

      I'm afraid you'd need to look up a guide. Each Digimon has different requirements for digivolving which includes having certain stats at certain hights and even stuff like the weight is factored it. It's more complicated than it should be.

  • @LeiosLabs
    @LeiosLabs 3 года назад +3

    In my opinion, the only flaw with this game is Numemon.
    It's hard to connect to pokemon (or even digimon in later digimon games) because it is difficult to see the monsters as actual, living creatures. Digimon World really made me care for the digimon. In fact, I think it's the only game that I have ever been emotionally invested in.
    In most other games, the player has an active role in combat... But I don't like active combat roles. I like supporting others. This game is the only one I can think of that allows me to play purely support.

    • @InfiniteComboReviews
      @InfiniteComboReviews  3 года назад +2

      That's a fascinating take, though you're probably in the minority there. It's rare when I find people who want to play support. Regardless, I'm glad you enjoy the game and could get invested. Reviews are just glorified opinions and yours is just as valid as mine.

    I love the obsure nature of the game. You are not meant to look at a guide. You gain access to things to increase training results and better food options as a means of progression. You also keep some skills and stats each time they die of old age. Your digimon will eventually have the stats and lack of care mistakes to reach those ultimate forms just by genuinely trying your best.

    • @InfiniteComboReviews
      @InfiniteComboReviews  2 года назад +2

      That is only half true. How would anyone know how many care mistakes they need to obtain a certain Digimon? How could you know about how much weight factors in? It's been a while, but I remember training a mon in one direction super hard only to get Neumamon. Turns out, if I had overloaded him with food to reach a higher weight, I would have gotten what I wanted. The game does not tell you any of that. It's even worse if you are a child. What kid wants to play through with a Neumamon, especially if you get penalized for killing it off to start again.

    I got introduced to digimon by watching it on tv here in croatia, it was a decent dub (most of our dubs are decent but our dubbers have like 4 voices per person and there are some bad ones, yugioh zexal literally has a guy voice one of the girls i think), but the best part was the dubbed opening, it was extremely nostalgic, and while my mom didn't like digimon she let me watch it, granted i had no limits on what i was allowed to play and watch (silent hill, age 3; mortal combat armageddon, age 5), as far as digimon games are concerned, i played digimon rumble arena and digimon world 3 first, after that digimon world 4 and rumble arena 2, world 3 and rumble arena 1 and 2 are good imo

    • @InfiniteComboReviews
      @InfiniteComboReviews  5 лет назад

      Well theres a lot to unpack there, but the first thing that immediately comes to mind is, how could you possibly play Silent Hill at age 3? I couldn't even figure out how to play RE2 at age 10. As for Digimon, yeah, the dubs in the US are actually pretty good, despite being dumbed down, or so I've heard and as far as the games go, I've only play World 1 & 2, though I have picked up Hackers Memory on the PS4 just recently.

      @@InfiniteComboReviews i played silent hill in the loosest sense, 10 minutes of play and then getting stuck in the cafe somehow
      i like the us dubs of digimon most of the time but personally i am a sub guy (not that kind of sub, or that other kind of sub, or that other other kind of sub)digimon world 3 is basically pokemon but with digimon in a good way, you have a team of 3 digimon (you can get the ones you didn't choose by doing sidequests), each digimon can digivolve by having a certain level or certain stats, you go to 4 leaders around the world and defeat them and stop an evil thing from destroying the world, apparently digimon world 2003 is a slightly expanded version with a postgame, the problem with digimon world 3 is balancing, in the second area you are dead if you run into a samurai digimon, that thing can demolish you in 2 hits
      but other than that it is a good game, you get a lot of content (it has an in game auction system and a card game), a lot of digivolutions to try, some great spritework and some ok modeling, also the ost is memorable but not amazing, it is a solid 7.8/10 for me, if i had played digimon world 2003 it would be an 8.2/10 probably

    I still find the mix between pet-raising and pet combat is done at its best in gaming here. How you raised your digimon matters. Like, it matters so hard you can train a digimon too well that you can (and will) miss your supposed evolution when your digimon digivolves. Also, I can raise an Andromon with only a strand of muscle or a gigachad Sukamon unlike in other pet raising games where a pet is locked into one set of primary abilites else it's useless to anyone (looking at you, Pokemon). This is what I love most as there are only a few games that allows you to smear shit on the game's final boss until it drop dead.

    I hate this game, and I'm surprised people want this as a remaster. Now I understand that this game gives you some good freedom, but it doesn't really matter if you don't know where to go. As a kid, I got nothing but Numemon and had no idea why. If this game does get some kind of remaster, it needs to fix its problems.

    • @InfiniteComboReviews
      @InfiniteComboReviews  2 года назад +1

      I fully understand where you are coming from. If I didn't have the strategy guide as a kid, I probably would have hated it too. That said, with a proper remaster, fix all the shortcomings, this could be an outstanding game.

  • @TheGermanWizard

    I see your points and especially the early jokes land, but there are a bunch of misconceptions on your part, probably due to a lack of info.
    Numemon only comes after rookie and is far from useless, that honor goes to sukamon. You also keep shitting on it a bit much.
    Ultimate level digimon dont get the picking of techniques specifically. you need 500 IQ to do so, only then any digimon gets that perk.
    as a PAL version player myself let me tell you: having the game crash due to Giromons Jukebox is easier to take than not getting into the Ogrefortress until the post game. and even then you need a certain method of cheating or glitching to do it. that trick also cant be done on anything else than the PS1 or PS2 slim specifically.

    • @InfiniteComboReviews
      @InfiniteComboReviews  2 года назад

      Thank you. Yeah, I know Numemon is less useless than Sukamon since Numemon can become an easy Monzemon, but the thing with Sukamon is that you can see it coming where Numemon will usually catch new players off guard and be more frustrating due to it spoiling all their hard work. Also I know about the 500 IQ for Ultmate Digimon as well as my MetalGreymon was at that point which is how I beat the game, but it takes sooooo long to get to that point that I was already at the end of the game when I got to actually utilize that feature. Finally, yeah, another commentor did mention that PAL players had it rough. Being in the US, I definitely didn't know about that beforehand.

    • @TheGermanWizard
      @TheGermanWizard 2 года назад

      @@InfiniteComboReviews Now that you Mention Monzaemon, i think i never, ever, got it outside of story progression. when i did Toy town has always been the only time i got Monzaemon. But you dont get Numemon unless you totally fuck up to meet the needed stats for any of the champions available to your partner. I will amdit, first timers wont know about any of those and what i did back then was benefitial and worse at the same time. I kept on training every stats the same amount which brought all stats over the threshold, but it more often than not got me a digimon that was either a really big and hungry dinosaur or a digimon that wouldnt have anything i needed when i wanted to go lets say Grey Lord's Mansion.
      something about the PAL version many people dont know is, while you cant COMPLETE the city, you can still beat the game. But most of the ogremon quest is excluded from it, which also means yuramon or angemon can hold useless info for you until you can glitch the game correctly to keep going on Ogremon. i am working on a script to make my own video about the whole thing and my perspective on things, including the method to do Ogremon in the PAL version. this isnt an ad, its still gonna take a while

    Your review lacks balance. How can you zero in on pet peeves and use that to define the entire game. Its funny you over look how the mechanics adds to the experience of the game and merely wanting it to be dumbed down because of a few gripes here and there would remove those gripes but you don't have a clue how it would probably unearth another one of your gripes. No wonder you are stuck at such a low subscriber count.
