When I did the Obstacle Course it was raining it was about 45 degrees we only had on our BDU’s with no field coats, gloves or snow cap. It was about six hours of hell. Sand in every crevasse soaking wet my face felt like it had been scraped off, when I was done it literally took me 15 minutes to unbuckle my belt because my fingers were frozen. I still have that video on VHS! When it gets cold I think back to that day and it is no longer too cold! Good job describing howBasic is and there are so many new things that you do or did that I didn’t do. My enlistment date Jan 30, 1996.

I happened on your videos when I was doing some research for my son who is looking into the Air Guard. I was curious as to the changes and if it got a little softer over the years. Your videos made me remember so many details about the experience that I had. It is such a great, life altering experience for someone to have. Best of luck with your career!!!

I actually LOVE MRE's, I got to eat a ton of em when Hurricane Maria stuck here in Puerto Rico, it's the only thing I miss about that hurricane, but I can live without them for now as long as it means no more hurricanes lol

Airman Willis, what I TRULY appreciate about your vids is you don't try to make BMT something that it wasn't. The Marines have "beast week" it's called recruit training, 13 weeks worth. As for MREs, I think you would have hated C-Rations! Yes, I'm a way old guy, '75 - '81!

I am glad that I only did six weeks then off to Tech School. I spent a whole year in Tech School 341’s did you have to give those to a TI for being stupid? That was how it was when I was in Basic. The TI’s were ruthless when I went through Basic!
To be honest. It’s almost unbelievable, how beautiful she is. I’ve been legitimately impress at how good someone looks. I wouldn’t even date someone this pretty. I’d spend the whole time being insecure thinking I’m not good enough.
I did beast week earlier than you around late January but had one day off because it was a Holiday. So I only went 4 days on beast week. When did you graduate BMT?
If entering BMT as an e-1, can you leave as like an e-2 or something or does your rank HAVE to be determined with your recruiter beforehand? I took some college classes in high school and I was hoping that it would give me a higher rank. (Just graduated)
Your rank has to be determined with your recruiter beforehand. I believe you need 24 credit hours to enter as an E-2 but I could be wrong. A recruiter can answer that question better than I can. :)
Not sure if you’ve mentioned this already but what is your job? I’m hopefully going to be a flight medic, just waiting for it to be approved by the SG ! (:
Cell phones are an earned luxury, usually allowed for a 5-15 min phone call on Sundays if, and only IF, your MTI(s) allows it. Work hard and do as your told, you get your phone for a call home. At least that's my understanding. I guess we'll find out how true that is when the time comes. 😅
They changed the schedule. No more airmens week, they intersperse it as Airmens Time throughout training, final testing is week 6 including gas chamber, and then BEAST week 7.

I went in the winter and it was freezing so, no desert life!
