    Back in the day when I went through Happy Valley USA 🇺🇸 (Lackland AFB) aka US Air Force Basic training it was pretty rigorous. (42 years ago) We had our fit reps we had to make by the end of BMT and we had to go through the Confidence ( Obstacle ) Course. It was a lot like this but we didn't have to wear any combat gear or the like. We had to do a lot of things that aren't done here. I'm proud of these young men and women. No matter what form it takes, it's a rite of passage. They will do well when and if they have to step up and defend our country!

    • @USAirForceRecruiting
      @USAirForceRecruiting  3 года назад

      Non US citizens must have an Immigration Services (U.S.C.I.S) Registration Card (INS Form I-551 -- Commonly known as a "Green Card". The green card must be a 10 year green card and with an expiration date greater than 2 years from the date of issue. Applicants must be between 17 and 39, must speak, read and write English fluently to apply to join the Air Force.
      If qualified you can join at age 17 with parental consent during your junior year in high school as part of The Air Force Softbook Program and enter the Delayed Entry Program (DEP). However, you will not go to Basic Military Training (BMT) until after you graduate high school.
      While you are still too young to enlist into the Air Force, it is never too early to start preparing. There are a few things you can do now to prepare for once you reach the required age. First study hard and graduate from high school. Get the best grades you can in all subjects especially English, Math and Science. This will help you improve your score on the ASVAB test which is required for enlistment. Say no to drugs and get an early start on physical conditioning are important steps in the right direction. And stay out of trouble. Law violations can delay and in some cases will disqualify you from joining the Air Force and taking advantage of the opportunities available. Starting early and being prepared are your best shot. Stay in contact with your Guidance Counselor and maybe we will see you in a few years.
      You may research more information about the Air Force on our site of www.airforce.com to include benefits like education, careers, training, lifestyle, requirements, etc.
      There is also the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) portion that answers a lot of the most common questions asked: www.airforce.com/frequently-asked-questions/

    • @USAirForceRecruiting
      @USAirForceRecruiting  4 года назад +1

      The safety and security of our Airmen continue to be top priorities while in BMT and Technical Training. We’ve modified BMT operations to implement the necessary health protection measures to ensure our trainees and cadre, and the communities in which they operate, are safe to conduct training.
      To fully maximize training effectiveness and to mitigate the effects of COVID-19, BMT is temporarily shortening training from eight and a half to seven and a half weeks. This will allow BMT to adhere to social-distancing guidelines as well as ensure the safety and security of the trainees, the Military Training Instructors and BMT support personnel.
      In order to maintain social-distancing measures and preserve dorm capacity, new recruits will be brought in based on a four-week repeating cycle that includes stringent restricted-movement guidelines, dedicated time for deep cleaning between rotations, resetting the instructor cadre and the use of an alternate BMT location for a low number of trainees at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. It is most likely that your BMT ship date and location will not change, but if they do, your recruiter will let you know. Keep in close contact with your recruiter and he or she can answer any questions you may have and update you on any changes.

      Air and Space Force BMT is about mental stress not physical, just like their jobs will be. Physical training is minimal, just enough to live in a FOB. The few jobs that are combat related get very physical training in the technical classes that occur just after graduating basic. When I went through basic, the mind games were brutal and many trainees failed. Instructors did their best to remove trainees by making them lose their tempers, get flustered or inattentive, or take inappropriate actions.
