  • In the following video, Denver based guitarist Keith Hicks compares the K&K Pure Mini to the K&K Double Helix Solo. In the following Martin Guitar, both pickups are installed in the instrument. The video compares the sounds of the two pickups separately and then shows how the two pickups can be blended together to produce a wonderful acoustic tone. The issue is, and it is not just w K&K is that a blend usually does not give you a desired result (best of both worlds) but an interacting frequency pattern that actually takes away some of the individual strength. At least that has been my experience. But if course you dont have to blend the 2 signals..

I'm going for a Pure Mini/Helix combo, each going to separate Tonebone PZ Pres for more of an overall, EQ and (IMO) a better pre than the Trinity (and I've tried both). By going into separate TB's I can also run my effects (which I use sparingly) with the Helix, keeping the Pure signal totally clean. Wish me luck!

Thoughts on adding a compressor to the soundhole pick up? Thanks

Pure Mini just needs some EQ but the tonal and dynamic response is nice!

In a band and with loud sound, the transducer microphones suffer feedback? can feedback be controlled in those situations?

Hey bud need your help. I currently use a pure mini that I like and run it along with a double helix. The double helix goes through a sound pure XLR preamp. Both go through different channels on my schertler. Problem is I just can’t seem to eq the sucker right. It’s either too harsh or too bland. Suggestions? Thanks brother. Wish you guys were nearby, you look like you know your shtuff!!

How did you attach the pure mini's? Double-sided tape, or glue? Sounds very fat and rich!

Have the trinity already. Thinking about also adding double helix to only run pedals through it. Thoughts? Thank you!

Jose Delacerda sounds like an interesting idea. I generally like to run the complete signal source into inputs such as pedals. I’d say give it a shot and see what you like. Good luck!

Olde Town Pickin' Parlor my hope is to reduce the risk of feedback since I like to add a little distortion. We will see

Is the Helix passive like the pure mini?

Like the pure mini. Not sure about the idea of playing them together on the same guitar. Sounded too muddy to my ears.

Is this a sound hole pickup? Not interested.
