I’m moderately curious and cautiously optimistic about *_A Complete Unknown._* But I also sincerely believe that *_I’m Not There_* is by far the best music biopic of the rock era. Not only for its presentation of Bob Dylan, but it’s just a gorgeous film. For my money, Todd Haynes understands music better than any other film director.
My Brilliant Friend imho is HBO’s best show although it’s really an RAI show if you asked me. It’s based on Ferrante’s Neapolitan Quartet, this this the last season and the show will conclude. It’s a shame more people don’t know about it. I breathed in the quartet all four books in a couple of months it’s so good. Alba Rohrwacher from La Chimera will play one of the leads in final season. Also it’s scored by Max Richter.
I was walking to see BORDERLANDS as this was being broadcast. I hated it but my friend really enjoyed it. It's up to 9% right now (from 6% when I noticed this morning) for the tomatoes. I didn't even know that it was based on a game. But one of the first things I said when turning to my friend was asking what the source material was. I don't understand how any of the names would've signed up for it. (Maybe if the game voice actors had been used instead...) Fencing is hard accd'g to Tony and Nate on CBS Mornings. They were recently trained by medal champs. Molly Kearney probably would've been cast as Walz if she hadn't announced her departure from SNL. I saw Air Supply several years ago in San Jose. They put on a pretty good show and the women fans still go WILD for them. I find that pretty hilarious since the shorter one physically reminds me of my recently deceased aunt these days. I can't imagine the need to make a film though.
Borderlands had an trouble production. The studio brought in another director for reshoots since eli roth left to made Thanksgiving which he probably enjoy more. I think the movie wrapped like three years ago before the reshoots.
you forgot another big announcement robert downey jr is back in the MCU as doctor doom! and a lot of people think this is desperate, and I really think this is a red flag for the MCU

Something I’m sure you’re probably gonna discuss on the next news video is Joaquin Phoenix dropping out of his next 🎥 (directed by Todd Haynes) five days before shooting due to “cold feet”. He hasn’t spoken about it yet but the producer spoke about it in a Facebook post. This definitely makes Joaquin look very unprofessional (crew was down in Mexico ready to go and they still need to get paid) especially since this was his idea, his insistence on pushing it to the NC-17 level it was at. Maybe he didn’t spend enough time working with an intimacy coordinator (or maybe he didn’t speak to one at all), maybe not enough conversations with Danny Ramirez about comfort levels, etc. this may cause Joaquin to be not insurable and filmmakers possibly not wanting to work with him because who knows if he may pull this again. I’m someone who’s obviously never shot loved scenes before (there may be a time where I will in my career) and I know they’re incredibly awkward due to the crew behind the camera watching you. But that’s why you have conversations and dialect so they can be less scary for everyone involved
“Borderlands” ⭐️⭐️ out of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Was expecting this to be an absolute colossal train wreck. So I’m thinking that maybe it’s worse than “Madame Web”. Honestly it’s not but that’s coming from someone who never played the game and just saw a “Guardians of the Galaxy” ripoff with some decent action, decent visual effects but a lot of the jokes just fell flat so fuckin hard. Jack Black provides the only real laughs but I should say that it’s less laughs and more like chuckles. Kevin Hart is miscast but it’s not on the level of Sydney Sweeney in “Madame Web”. Cate Blanchett does her best with what she’s given but oh my god she looks GOOOOOOD in this 😍. This was a case where a lot of writing on the wall just lead it towards being a pile of shit. They shot it 3 years ago, didn’t do reshoots till early last year (Tim Miller directed the reshoots cuz Eli needed to get going on “Thanksgiving”), then Craig Mazin even took his fuckin name off the script (I haven’t watched “Last of Us” yet but hear it’s amazing). There were scenes where I said out loud “this is not terrible” but that’s not enough to justify the cost. Avi Arad as a producer is really hit & miss (yeah he produced some really good stuff but also some stuff that hasn’t been all that great) and I’m sure after “Uncharted” made $407 million as a producer he probably got high hopes for this. I’ve seen some people say on twitter say if this is basically “guardians of the galaxy” then why aren’t they liking it. Well there’s a difference. “Guardians of the Galaxy” does have a similar structure in terms of an ensemble of whacky characters going on a quest for something. But what “Guardians of the Galaxy” also has is James Gunn. James just has a set of skills in storytelling that Eli just simply doesn’t have (Eli’s extremely talented but he’s never been one for quiet moments & subtlety). Everytime something pops at the box office & gets acclaim studios look at that and immediately just wanna fuckin copy and paste this. I mean McG when attached to “Masters of the Universe” wanted to follow the “Guardians of the Galaxy” structure but not every property needs that style. It works because it’s James Gunn. So in conclusion it’s not complete hot garbage but if you played the game you’re probably gonna leave the theater pissed & disappointed at the same time.
