Hi Ben. I think the 290 has air in the hydraulic system. The hydraulic reservoir was probably run dry due to multiple leaks, and the pump cavitated, introducing air into the system. Air bubbles will cause that jumpiness.

Talk to somebody that knows hydraulics I ran big forklifts and mills with lumber and they can get air in them just like your brake line
