This was my highlight of the episode. Bepo casually showing why he's the best vice captain Law could ask for and helping him escape despite wanting to save the others too. And Law saying he can't leave his friends behind just made me so happy. Corazon and Luffy really changed him for the better. I love them.

My reasoning being: 1: In his fight against Ace he said that the Yami Yami no Mi allows him to "absorb devil fruit powers". Which in the fight manifests in Ace being drawn in first, and then being unable to use his powers. With the drawback that he can't dodge attacks as those gets drawn to him no matter what as well. 2: Blackbeard says the Yami Yami no Mi is the strongest devil fruit power. But the above + being able to draw in debris/people and spitting them out again would hardly make it the strongest power. So yea, my theory is that the fruit allows it's user to absorb 1 more power. Like how Law's fruit allows him to make a person immortal once, and how Brook's fruit allows him to resurrect once. Heck maybe the Yami Yami no Mi allows him to absorb multiple powers. Or maybe it even allows him to absorb powers and grant them to others, kind of like how his black hole sucks things in but can also spit them out again on his command. Or maybe I'm completely wrong of course.

Because BB didn't get his second fruit powers by eating a fruit at all (at least not the regular way), he did some kind of ritual with White Beard to get a hold of the powers of the Gura-Gura no mi. Whether this is due to the nature of his devil fruit, a special constitution or anything isn't known at the moment. But for sure what IS known is that he was able to take for himself and also able to give others DF powers, although it seems they have to die for that (otherwise he could just use people as DF storage and swap at will). Sooner or later, there might be a time where they reveal the minor details of how all that work, but not now.

Idk what short of training BB has done but, whatever it is I gotta say he must've put himself through some hell. Because back then I remember him screaming in pain and whining every time he took on an attack due to his devil fruit increasing the pain haven't seen that at all in Egghead I'm honestly so excited what BB has in store for us.
BB was always the same, he was taking Ace's best attacks and WB's attacks and kept fighting. He just toys with his opponent at the beginning until he gets serious.

I like the contrast of their crews loyalty showing here: Bepo putting his life on the line for a small chance of saving his captain while Van Augur realizes his shots aren't landing and immediately teleports away to save himself and let his captain get hit instead.
Reminds me of how Custodes from 40k function. They don't work together as a team, but fill in the gaps others leave open. Van obviously couldn't stop the rock from impacting, so by letting BB and others get hit, he saw an opening to take out Bepo. he filled the gap to achieve victory by any means.

I feel like in the end, Blackbeard's downfall will happen because no one on his crew has genuine loyalty to him like the other crews we've seen. Even Kaido has King's absolute loyalty and Big Mom's children all have genuine affection for her.

this is honestly fantastic just storywise in my opinion. the other vice captains like Zoro and Killer have have been able to show why they're the 2nd in command to their respective captains strength, and now Bepo can show his strength kicking a bit of Blackbeard Crew butts
