I think there's a another n64 game called 40 Winks It's Like Luigis Mansion But With Platforming I Mean It's Like Almost a Closest Thing To Have Luigis Mansions On N64 You Should Check That Game Out
I remember when an irl friend got an N64 and he listed a bunch of games he wanted for it. He mentioned Luigi's Mansion as an N64 game.

Knowing I was getting the GC I was disappointed hearing that this was going to be the "Mario" launch title. This game was and still is brilliant. That's down the the gameplay not the name, colour, gender or sexual orientation of the characters. No one wants to watch or play this woke bullshit some game studios get infected with, but the best part is, if they were actually good at their craft, then people will play it and love it lmao places of work have become the new asylums.
I love listening to people gush about GameCube games, but you know what I like even more? When dope-ass RUclipsrs use Paper Mario TTYD music in their dope-ass videos
Why would Nintendo release this game for the Nintendo 64 when it was made for the GameCube Nintendo back then didn’t release every game for every console

Especially with all those collections and good content on youtube? That's an instant sub. We lack good Nintendo channels today (channels like this) and Luigi's Mansion is underrated, what a gem. 9:49 The tech was there, DirectX and OpenGL was there and since September 1999 when Nvidia started Geforce. But because of another Type of processor IBM, they had to "Star Over," the coding but from knowledge of the capacity which the chip was able to accomplish. It took time to get it in the 3d engine. But they didn't make up things. It was existing. Longer pipelines for shadows and direct lighting if that is want you meant. Cool vid.

Yeah, I dont think I could see Luigi's Mansion with N64s baked lighting and blob shadows. Good call Nintendo. Luigis mansion was so well done actually, it can hold a candle with some of todays games. Iwas really a graphical marvel for 2001. Some can argue it can be called a graphical marvel for a PS4/Xbox 1 title.

I love histories behind games that could have been or early stages of development. It's always fun to see how these games turned out and what they might have been instead. The early concept for "Resident Evil 4" was more like the original 3. I'm glad the final product was better. I did not know a lot of this about Luigi's Mansion. Thanks again Lady Decade!
"Resident Evil 4" also gave birth to the entire "Devil May Cry" series.
Huh. Seems like the time period of 1999-2001 was a rough time for N64 development with the GameCube looming large. One example is easily the original Animal Crossing; Doubutsu no Mori actually did release for the N64 in Japan, but would be expanded and adapted to the GameCube as Animal Crossing for the rest of the world without ever seeing that N64 release, then relocalized back to Japan as Doubutsu no Mori+, then given an expansion with e-Reader compatibility as Doubutsu no Mori e+.

I enjoyed that the original game had some sense of realism and even had a scary atmosphere. In the further releases it was made much more cartoony and toned down, especially the ghosts.
I agree with this. It was stylised but the first game has a legit amazing/creepy automsphere. The sequels, while still really good, lacked that realism and creepiness.
Fun fact luigi's mansion was actually for the N64 but because of hardware limitations it was on project dolphin instead
There actually is a neat SM64: Luigi's Mansion hack that set out to recreate Luigi's Mansion in SM64. I'm surprised you didn't mention it, especially considering the N64 angle you were going for LD otherwise nice video

For me the game was a failure. Not because it wasn't well designed. No, it was very well designed and I had a great pleasure to play it.
However, if you play a game and are playing it slowly to collect everything and you are already finished after 5-6 hours of gameplay, then it has a low return for the money.
After I and a friend of mine finished the game, we looked at ourselves, whether it was Nintendo's true intention to release such a short game for the release of the gamecube. We were shocked. There weren't much games for the Gamecube. We wanted to play all night long this game and we were already finished around midnight. What a disgrace.
According to our opinion the game needed around double the content it has to be a blockbuster title. So it was only a nice but costly intermezzo.
It's a really really impressive tech demo. A £20 new price release would have been acceptable in my opinion.

I like how for the SpaceWorld 2000 part you took a mashup of different versions of the scenes, one of those being a recreation by me and another by other people. I still like how the footage is still making the spot light.

I just love they way british people structure their videos. I'll have to guess it's because of how the bbc makes documentaries. So enjoyable and calming! A lot better then the US RUclips Videos, where people tend to scream in your ear with absurd compression on the audio.

luigi's mansion was my very first home console game on my first home console, i remember opening on christmas morning along with my gamecube!
The Game Boy Horror makes a bit more sense now. By the time the game and the Gamecube dropped, the GBA was already out, but I guess that pun was too good to ditch.
Luigi's Mansion was one of my first Nintendo GameCube games and I still have my copy of it. In fact, I was playing that game a few months ago. On the Wii since it has GameCube support. I also have the third game but I'll always love the first. There was also the Nintendo 3DS version but I never played it nor did I have any interest in doing so. Shame I never played Luigi's Mansion; Dark Moon which was the sequel for the 3DS.

Another quick fact:In the Original Luigi's Mansion for GameCube, if you stood in the Telephone Room, and you wait till lightning strikes, you'll see Luigi's Shadow cast on the wall that looks like he is hanging from a rope. They fixed this in the 3DS edition. How spooky!
