Rocky was born in 1923 so he was 26 in 1949, when he fought Vingo. Perhaps he discovered his power at age 22 but he was older than that at the end of 1949. Very truthful answers.

I was brought into this world in 1949 when the man was 22 and fought against Carmine Vingo in his first real bout. I grew up in Miami loving boxing, and broke another kids nose in the ring at the Southwest Miami Boys Club.
The boys mother complained so Vehemently the boxing program got cancelled. I also played football and baseball but really felt robbed when I could not box in the ring anymore.
I just found out that Rocky lived in Miami and had I known that I would've knocked on his door and begged for his autograph. I worked for two other professional boxers i.e. Bobby Dykes and Anthony Masciarelli. Bobby owned a night club and Tony owned Palace Billiards on Southwest 8th Street in Miami.
Both Dykes and Masciarelli were super nice guys and I count myself lucky for knowing them.
I could go on, but that's all ancient history now. God Bless America (USA) !!!

Rocky is the real terminator he would beat anyone into submission with his barrage of punches from round one till the fifteenth round I don't think I have ever seen a heavy weight boxer that would throw that many punches in a round after three rounds most heavy weight boxers are laying on each other.

They lie on each other because most of the "fighters" today are "gassed" by the 4th or 5th round. They come in with "man boobs"..."rolls" around the middle...these guys aren't in shape to go 10 rounds...never mind 15 rounds. Marciano knew he had to be in better shape than the guy he was fighting. His opponent usually was taller than he was...and weighed more than Rocky. Rock wasn''t going to be out punched...he wasn't going to be out-gutted...his opponent wasn't going to be in better shape than Marciano...his heart wasn't going to be a big as Rocky's...Rocky would hurt you no matter where he hit you. He was responsible for 13 permanent retirements...he had a "kill or be killed" attitude...he would wear you down...round after round of relentless attack...and your not going to beat a guy like Marciano with a left jab over 15 rounds!!!

@@beatlejim64 Rocky's numbers may not lie, but numbers minus context can easily lead to distortion. So let's examine his 13 opponents that he supposedly forced into retirement instantaneously:
Amateur Lee Epperson was debuting with 0-0-0 record when he faced Rocky. Shameful and Embarrassing to even count this as forced-retirement! Retired from what? He never even had a boxing career! Back then he was most likely 16yrs old.
Amateur Jimmy Weeks was debuting with 0-0-0 record when he faced Rocky. Shameful and Embarrassing to even count this as forced-retirement! Retired from what? He never even had a boxing career! Probably another 16yr old.
Amateur John Edwards only had 2 fights before he faced Marciano. Edwards was KO'd his first fight and won his 2nd fight against another 173 lb amateur (Paul Longo) with a 0-0-0 debut record LMAO. Y'all gonna count this one also??? (Jim Cushman Will !!!)
We know for certainty that ring-worn Joe Louis only came back because IRS basically forced him to. As soon as they took his purse for fightin Rocky, he was out of there for good!
Walcott retired because he was ready for retirement. He only returned for Marciano-2 because of that Huge $250K payday. Marciano only received $166K. Walcott received the lions share both fights. Had Walcott continued fighting he would have only received a fraction of that. He had no choice but to retire. $250K back then is $2.6 million today. Rocky never retired Walcott,, he "QUIT"!!!
Lee Savold age was 36 with 153 bouts. His manager, Bill Daily, asked referee Pete Tomasso to stop the uneven match at the end of the sixth round. "The will was there but not the body," said Daily. "I'm going to advise Lee to retire Tomorrow." Lee didn't even throw a punch at Rocky, he basically stood there like heavy punching bag. Completely washed Savold was only there for his last Big-Paycheck!!!
Obese 254 lb Humphrey Jackson was simply 4-2 amateur when he faced Marciano. He never beat a winning fighter. It only took 0:34 seconds for Humphrey to be KO'd in his first fight, and 1:28 in his last fight. The less said about Humphrey 'Bum' Jackson the better!
Jimmy Evans was 18-7 , 178 lb LIGHT heavyweight B-level undercard Journeyman with five year career when he Quit.
Harry Haft was 12-7 , 5' 9" 174 lb LIGHT heavyweight B-level undercard Journeyman when he took on Marciano. Shake My Head.
Gino Buonvino was 24-15 with an 8 year dubious Journeymen career.
Eldridge Eatman was 22-21, with a 12 year 50/50 career when he fought Rocky. "Eatman proved no opposition for Marciano", according to the Providence Journal, "Marciano hit Eatman with a right in the 3rd round, and Eatman went down after that, though it didn't appear he was hit." Another perfect $$Take-a-Dive$$ undercard C-Level 12 year Controlled Journeyman!!!
Pete Louthis was 32-13 when he fought Rocky. Pete had an abysmal 35% KO% percentage. Louthis fought Willie James with 0-0-0 debut record,, only 2 fights before facing Marciano. Pete fought TEN men with 0-0-0 records. Another 100% MAFI-SO CONTROLLED!!!
Carmine Vingo with his very very very dubious overrated 16--1 record,, hit the back of his head on the wooden flooring and unfortunately ended up slightly paralyzed but ended up living a long (86 years) happy life.
It appears Rocky did not force-retire any of these boxers. It's all mere exaggerated fabricated hyperbolic speculation that Jim Cushman started 13yrs ago! But I'm here now for the next 13yrs to clean up Jimbo's biased incessant hate filled fiction.

90% of little white Rocky's opponents were journeymen, and the rest were small cruiserweight has-beens with twice as many fights on the downward slide. Considering all his B-Level opposition and the fact that he 'Quit' during his 'Prime' , 49-0 really isn't that fantastic.

No doubt about it, Rocky is definitely showing symptoms of Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) which is a progressive and fatal brain disease associated with repeated traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), including concussions and repeated blows to the head. It is also associated with the development of dementia. CTE was once known as dementia pugilistica, or punch-drunk syndrome.
Besides his mistakes here, Marciano also said at tape #4, "I fought 16 times in my very first professional year. The following year i fought 14 times," and "In my 23rd fight i was on television and made a big hit, in beating Joe Louis." Arithmetic is one of the first things that goes with dementia pugilistica.

The Marciano Tapes #6 @3:40 Marciano confesses Carmine Vingo hit the back of his head on the plywood flooring. *He said, "it so happened that Vingo hit his head on the flooring, and it sent him unconscious. He was paralyzed a little bit in his fingers and hands. There was a change in the ruling, from then on padding was put on the ring of the flooring."* Rocky's manager Al Weill said the same thing in Marciano's biography 'Unbeaten', *"Vingo hit his head on the flooring, then he went unconscious."*
So after all this time it was the plywood flooring that partially paralyzed Vingo, not Marciano's punch. *It's no wonder Vingo said, "I WAS SLAUGHTERED FOR A CROWD" --source: The Saturday Evening Post by Carmine Vingo as told by Seymour Shubin*
    *Carmine Vingo's F-LEVEL opponents:*
*1.* Barney Metten career record 6 wins 3 losses *F-LEVEL*
*2.* Fred Ramsey career record 8 wins 12 losses *F-LEVEL*

*14.* Ernie Conyer career record 5 wins 9 losses *F-LEVEL* (SECOND time Vingo fights this guy. Why? Isn't it obvious? To pad his fraudulent resume).
*15.* Joe Modzele career record 18 wins 8 losses *D to F-LEVEL* (Another 183 lb light heavyweight moonlighting as Heavyweight, they were dime a dozen back then).
*16.* George Washington career record 12 wins 33 losses *F-LEVEL* (Second time Vingo fights this diver. Vingo fought *FOUR* opponents *TWICE* within 16 bouts. The majority of his opponents had losing records. This is all to reminiscent of Roland LaStarza's resume).
*17.* Al Robinson career record 0 wins 5 losses *F-LEVEL* (Vingo actually fights a debuting amateur (0-0-0) just before he faces Rocky. Why? Worst division in boxing history).
*18.* Rocky Marciano career record 49 wins 0 losses *A-minus-LEVEL for extremely short 7yr career. In comparison Moore had 27yr career.* (Vingo was completely outclassed and never had a chance from the get-go. I saw their Getty Museum pics and Marciano didn't have a single mark on his face, his eyes were wide open and clear).
All this time i was mislead into believing that Vingo was this twenty year old superstar being prepped to become the next Heavyweight champ. Instead he was prepped for *SLAUGHTER JUST TO PLEASE A CROWD* --Carmine Vingo
*WHAT THEY DID TO VINGO WAS A TRAVESTY*
