Snapdragon 215 is very underpowered for daily use . I was using Redmi 4A a couple months back and it was powered by Snapdragon 425 and it was very sluggish and laggy for daily use also .
Are you one of the ordinary guy who always press home button and keep apps in background? then you are the one who makes your phone laggy... Or are you the person (just like me) who always use the back key most of the times? Then, it's your phone's UI that is making the phone slow...If you don't mind taking risk, flash a custom rom on your device with the help of some techie friend...That could help..
You can't make a laggy phone buttery smooth but if you know how to adjust with it, you could.. I had a Samsung Galaxy Pocket which has 290MB RAM and Single core processor.. I had about 40 games on it, 30+ themes and calculating all apps together, more than 110 third party apps on it. And my phone didn't lag like other's...

I have a phone of J series from 2016, and that still performs way better than this at even power saving mode, and the processor is a 14nm 1.6GHz octa-core, not a 28nm 1.3GHz quad-core. I bought a new phone 2-3 months ago only because I needed to install some more apps and my phone was running out of internal storage. So idk what's the issue with J series.
Now in 8.5 k u can get Samsung m12 with 90hz display , 6k battery with 18w charger ( Type C) , Far better camera , OS, Better display , speaker everything... Jio Phone next is just a piece of crap

Jio could have reduced the price by partnering with custom rom makers like lineage instead of going with google. Even oneplus used cyanogen mod in initial days. Basically people are now paying for google commission simply.

The plans are day light robbery. If I remember correctly, you get ₹599 plan for Jio for 3 months, which offered 2GB/day of internet, and here it's ₹500 per month. And you're forced to pay this for like 18-24 months (depending on what you choose). So overall you're are spending way more than what you would have spent if you just purchased a Xiaomi/Realme/Infinix.
It's about scamming the poor. Mostly for people who can't afford to pay the amount in one go. Should try and educate the poor people around you to make better choices and avoid this
Remember the time when Motorola was the King in this price range. They provided great phones with proper cameras at this price point sometimes even with a metal back.

I think the point is being missed here. This phone is targeted to people who are unable to pay an upfront amount of 6k or 7k rs. The upfront price EMI price is 2000rs + 500rs processing fee and a monthly EMI for 24months costs 300rs per month where 150rs per month is the price for jio recharge and you are actually paying 150 emi. Hence the total amount of the phone is 6100rs if you add it up. And that small amount of 6k, you are paying it for 2 years. Don't blindly follow whatever the youtube reviewers say try to use your brain and see where the phone is targetted and the actual price. This is a great initiative to bring the internet and smartphone to a broader audience.

I still use my Samsung galaxy C9 Pro which has the Snapdragon 653 SOC based on 28 nanometer, 6GB DDR3, 64GB eMMC 5.1 storage....the phone is still surprisingly functional😂😂😂...But yea this phone is just sad🙄

But if u remember, with even lower specs, windows phone 8.1 used to work like a charm. Super fast, elegant, and it gives the performance of a new device even after a couple of years.
