"Each brave step forward I take three steps behind..." You have no idea how much this line means EVERYTHING to me right now. To anyone else who's struggling, we're in this together and we'll get through it.
What power such a simple creation as the memory holds. A moment in time for the world but a lifetime that I will never forget. Thank you for finding your strength and sharing it with me and everyone else.
I always thought like that. But I think we are wrong. The audience that can like this song is limited. And within that wholesome little audience he is a precious gem!
I just started listening to his song this year and i agree with you, this man sure is underrated. I’ve listened to many songs but his is the only one that makes me feel so emotional.
This is beautiful music. This is peaceful music. This is music that sets our soul free. This music is like medicine for a damaged man. This. Is. Music.

One of my therapists showed me the song "Two", and I fell in love with this band. I listen to their songs all the time, and I occasionally share them with my girlfriend whenever I can. I cannot say how much this band means to me. Please, if you see this, I love your music, and it's done wonders for so many people. We all love you
Two years ago I miscarried. For weeks, I listened to this song on repeat as I cried my eyes out. This song was my healing process and I am so grateful for the beautiful music that you create. Thank you
Poetry in all its shapes. The utophy of your music creates art inside the ephimeral trip that is life. Thank you... So much. Is not enough to describe how sublime is that every composition became an universe to travel across and beyond.
A friend of mine who was out of the country was meant to come home today. She passed away in October in a hiking accident. I didn't realize that I needed to hear this, but I did. Thank you.
A certain type of music and sadness seems to really bring out the absolute best of our species. I sometimes find as much comfort and wisdom in the comments as in the songs themselves. I see the same under instrumentals by 'Emancipator.'
This song got me through a real difficult time last year. I'm thankful for the music you put out. Especially this track right here. These lyrics were so relatable as if you were watching/living my struggles with me. It helped me get through and potentially saved my life. Bless you....
I listened to this when I was going through some of the worth moments of my depression. Listening to it now makes me cry because of how far I've come. To those listening to this because of the sorrow that spreading through you, it will be okay. I believe it will.
Losing my mum to cancer, then losing our twin boys in pregnancy... this song perfectly describes how you feel like loosing all hope and yet still somehow manage to keep fighting on. "I don’t want to fight, I don’t want to fight it. But I will learn to fight"
Your songs give me such pure, unfiltered catharsis. I've cried nearly every time I've listened to this one in particular, and each time, I find a kind of joyful abandon in the sweeping emotions in the lyrics. Sorrow comes to us so slowly, so softly, and then all at once, and it leaves us breathless. What an experience.
This song, just like the rest of your songs, touched my heart, soul and existence so deeply that i ached time after time because of the melody and the lyrics. Please never lose your humanity because you are following the emergence so perfectly
The first time I listened to this song I thought it was nice but didn't give it much attention. Recently I've faced a hard situation and found myself remembering lines from this song, so I decided to hear it again and this time felt the lyrics deeply. It allows me to feel both the sadness and hope necessary to heal, beautiful
I've been going through a season of loss, and this is song is such a beautiful expression of the feelings of sorrow that accompanies the grief. Thank you, Sleeping at Last for the beautiful piece of art!
My first experience with this artist it was through a warriors amv and the song was Saturn I liked it so I looked at some of the other songs and I was overwhelmed with the beauty of all of these songs and I’d hardly call them just songs they are works of art pieces of poetry but with a tune I do not think there as been a song that hasn’t made me rethink regroup and calm down from all my stress the fact that so many people feel a simmilar way is amazing.
In 2020 listening to this again. With all this happening in my life, I feel that this song really helps me through the tough times. Really am appreciative of this song.
This morning this song speaks to me. Let me dance to the sorrow that I have been experienced, what I will experience and the sorrow of my friends all over. I feel sorrow and I feel uplifted.
Where there is light, a shadow appears/the cause and effect when life interfers/the same rule applies to goodness and grief/for in our great sorrow, we learn what joy means. I love love love how it's so simply said, but beautiful. As much as I love the video, is it bad that I wish there was more to this fooage? I'm not a minimalist and I'm not patient enough. But I did get chills when the sunburst started.
There are no words to explain how much I adore "Sleeping At Last" 🥺 Thank you from the bottom of my heart Ryan 🧡 the peace you bring into my life, you have no idea... 🎶❤ Also I could die listening to strings 😭🙌🏾
You know, it helps a lot when all the feelings you can't put into words are described so wonderfully in such a beautiful music! It was something I really needed, and I can't even start to describe how truly amazing this song is. So precious to me indeed. Thank you for creating such a masterpiece♥
Incredible song that was with me after the death of my young brother, from opioids and addiction. I'm not embarrassed to say that I wept many times to the words of this amazing inspired song. And like everyone else posting on this thread, there are several lines that really resonate with me. If I could give one example: the line where he says "Slowly, then all at once A single loose thread And it all comes undone." This reminds me of the earlier stages in my grieving when I was at work or with friends and I'd be feeling good and then someone would inadvertantly say a trigger word or phrase and it would make me think of my brother and I'd leave the room to go cry somewhere in private. Those were some pretty rough times.
Just found this channel, In love with it. The music and his voice is soo amazing, every song I have listened to it has just touch me. That is what I look for and love about music, if it touches you it's good!! Much love
Your music, lyrics and talent touch people's hearts like no other can... you have changed me, you have changed my life. Thank you so much Sleeping At Last.
you can never make a “sad” song. i swear. every song makes being sad so less torment full than it seems that you cant feel hopeless and full fo despair
"What's a "Micro Music Video"? A tiny, simple and hypnotizing video accompaniment to my songs. Rather than seeing a static image, I loved the idea of having a visual to get lost in while listening." I love that.
Stunning music video :) I have to say that Sorrow is one of my all time favorites of yours. I can really relate to every line of it, and truly feel your own sorrow come through. Just as much a masterpiece as all your other songs. Absolutely breathtaking! Looking forward to what you may come with in the future
I don't know how proud I am of myself for discovering you Ryan! I wish I could explain how you make my life so beautiful!!! And hearing from you live would be a dream come true.
"for in our great sorrow we learn what joy means"..... absolutely lost for words with that line.
This is so true. Sleeping at last is my favourite band. 🥰🎶
Me too. Me too. I lost my little brother to opioids in 2016 and that line resonated with me as well. Bless you and whatever it means to you. 💚
Me too
"Each brave step forward I take three steps behind..."
You have no idea how much this line means EVERYTHING to me right now.
To anyone else who's struggling, we're in this together and we'll get through it.
Such a underrated artist he is.
I agree, one of the best talented men ever, found this man quite by chance. Such beautiful music

Sleeping at last can show how the world is beautiful and powerfull. And i call that talent.
" I don’t want to fight it.
But I will learn to fight"
it feels like falling
it feels like pain
Like losing my balance
Again and again
It once was so easy;
Breathe in. breathe out
But at the foot of this mountain
I only see clouds
I feel out of focus
Or at least indisposed
As this strange weather pattern
Inside me takes hold
Each brave step forward
I take three steps behind
It's mind over matter -
Matter over mind
Slowly
Then all at once
A single loose thread
And it all comes undone
Where there is light
A shadow appears
The cause and effect
When life interferes
The same rule applies
To goodness and grief;
For in our great sorrow
We learn what joy means
I don’t want to fight
I don’t want to fight it
But I will learn to fight
I will learn fight
’til this pendulum finds equilibrium
Slowly
Then all at once
The dark clouds depart
And the damage is done
So pardon the dust
While this all settles in
With a broken heart
Transformation begins
Thank you for the lyrics
Love it

Listening to Sleeping at Last makes me fall in love with being alive. Thank you for the music, Sleeping at Last.
If humanity ever sends out another record of our culture into space like NASA did in the 70s, I would want this song and/or Saturn to be on it.
