To be fair Band-Maid has composed songs for anime including: Shambles, Sense, Different, and Glory. The official music video for Unleash was done by an anime studio. So check them out and enjoy your journey.

I wonder what are the requirements for being "anime song". Singing on Japanese? For me this is a hard rock song. "Anime music" is not very descriptive.

I just mean that the song itself as a stand alone has the appeal to be an opening song for an anime, I know that animes have various style and artists that are paid for their music. It wasn't an insult just the first thing that came to mind. I thought the song was good.

You are correct about this however, if anime studios didn't put artist like this in/connected to their shows then people wouldn't make that connection upon hearing the music.
I would say that if the artist was British or American the song would sound completely different in the way its written as well, I have heard Japanese band that write songs in a western style and just because they are speaking Japanese, doesn't mean those songs automatically bring to mind anime, in those cases it usually brings to mind the band they most sound like in that style.

And a thing about the maid outfits, Storm: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids.
Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!

Who do they hate? Saiki was in a long term relationship that ended, so maybe him. But they love their fans, and have songs about that as well like, 'Endless Story' and 'About Us'. BAND-MAID have done Anime Theme Song commissions. They did 'Glory' for Yu-Gi-Oh VRAINS, as well as the season two closer for the Netflix anime, Kengan Ashura, 'Shambles'. They also have a song called, 'Unleashed' in which they appear in anime form.

I am aware of this, but this is my reaction and as someone who watches anime, closes thing I can compare it to in my experience is an opening of closing song for an anime. I'm not saying that they are bad or a lesser band or anything. Just that this song reminded me of songs like those. I have found many a great Japanese band through an anime related song that I couldn't get out of my head and found that the artists had a great body of work. So you are correct, if I have never seen an anime in my life I would even be able to make that comparison.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to say a few things here.
    1. Thank you to all the fans that told me to listen to more of this band! There will be more Band-Maid to come, I do like their sound and plan to journey though their work.
    2. To the people frustrated about the ANIME comment, I'm not saying this band is inherently an anime band, just that this song reminds me to an anime opening song, which I don't consider to be a bad thing, nor does it make them a lesser band somehow. Please don't take that comment personally, I do think this band is full of talented women owning their craft.
    3. A commenter asked me to react to this and I did enjoy the song, So I will be doing more. That being said if you have suggestions for songs or videos just drop them below and I'll try to get to them.
Thank you for your time, I hope you have a wonderful beautiful day.

I argue with other Madiacs all the time about this. I have a few observations from my time in the fanbase as to why they get annoyed by it and where I think those that don't like it go wrong and why.
The way western audiences are introduced to most japanese music is through anime, and the way the Japanese language sounds is very different than english or romantic languages, it's more staccato in nature, so that sound gets associated with anime. So, when people in the west hear Band Maid on it's own, outside of anime, that's the obvious connection we make. To many, and I assume you are in this category with me, "anime music" is just upbeat music that is in the japanese language.
So, as to why many get annoyed. In the west, Band Maid's fanbase tends to be male and of an average age of late GenX and Elder Millennial. This means what anime they experienced in general is much older than what you have probably watched. That anime tends to have very poppy music as their intro and outro music and doesn't sound anything like Band Maid... so they just don't see the comparison. Modern anime tends to have rock more often as their title songs.
Second, Maidiacs watch a lot of reaction videos and have a habit of getting irritated when they see the same things over and over that they don't agree with, and this is one of the most common. It's not your fault, you had no way to know, but it's a thing.
Finally, Band Maid themselves and anime producers like anime. They've created multiple songs for Anime. They have a video where they are literally anime characters. Band Maid likes this association, even if we do not. It's very prestigious to be chosen to make anime songs in japan and they're proud of it. So I find it weird that Madiacs get mad at this comment, but people are people and entitled to opinions, wrong as they may be.
Don't worry, we're usually a very supportive and friendly fanbase, just sometimes we get off on the wrong foot.

Roger again. So booooring 😆Cheers Roger 🍻
So many more songs they have so much to offer ... and mostly no "HATE" but many positive vibes all around!
And no other band is like Band Maid!! You can't compare them with Lovebites or Hanabie (both are great but different) ... and no way to compare with Baby Metal 😆
These ladies are masters at their instruments: Kanami (genius composer and lead guitar), Akane (a beast on drums, always smiling) and Misa (playing her own bassline the whole time). Then there is lead vocalist Saiki who is perfect for the Band Maid sound and Miku Kobato (rythm guitar, pure energy, most lyrics, fantastic backing vocals and harmonies). Miku wasn't able to play the guitar when she founded the bandin 2013.
I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. So, this is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special live videos try Freedom, Play, Real existence and Endless Story. With Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV) and Dice you can hear more hard rock while more catchy songs are Choose me (MV), Bestie (MV) and Alone (MV). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe About Us (MV) and Daydreaming (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like From now on (MV) and Onset (Live). And finally a very special live performance is Manners/Blackhole (Official Online Live)🍌 And there is more: For example the songs with Miku in lead, their christmas acoustic concert and the 'cover band' Band-Maiko ;-)
But if you want to start at the beginning of their career (2013-2017) then go with Thrill (MV, their first video), Real Existence (second video), Alone (MV, first own composition), Freedom(best LIVE performance), Choose Me, Play (LIVE!), ...
Some other band recommendations? Then try "The Sixsters" from Ukraine (Pick any song) and "Gacharic Spin" from Japan (song: "Mindset").
    Have fun... Po 🕊

Even though it does sound Generic to lable Japanese music as being of an "Anime vibe"..... it is what it is. A LOT of people in the West get introduced to Japanese music through Anime.... and that´s a good thing. I would not have discovered the band Maximum The Hormone if were not for the anime Deathnote. AND Band-Maid HAVE written songs exclusively for Anime.... Glory, Different, Shambles..... shit even Hibana was written as a theme song for a gaming tournament. Next.?.?.?.?. Welcome Masters and Princesses to the best rock band on the planet. Any Maids track always ROCKS as they come for your soul. These beautiful ladies are in their early 30s now and have been rocking for 10 years with plenty of Solo work from Misa and Kanami. The great thing is they always look so happy.
Try Thrill the track that blew them up on the world stage, after a slow start it suddenly went viral outside of Japan (the label was about drop them when this happened in 2015), Freedom, Onset, From now on, Without Holding Back, Hate? Are all great tracks and they have an extensive back catalogue (130+ tracks).
    The 5 Band-Maid members:
SAIKI Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. The youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions.
MIKU Kobato (Me-Ku), "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals and lyricist. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR Spokes Pigeon. I believe she couldn’t play when she formed the band and was tutored by Kanami.
KANAMI Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want is more!
AKANE Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa), "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Their Battle Gear as they call it with slight variations are standard maid outfits for Akane, Miku and Kanami, a head maids outfit for Saiki and a Ninja maid outfit for Misa.

Many anime have kick ass rock songs as intros or outros that have been cut brown for time, such as Porno Graffitti who has a song called The Day which was used as the intro for my hero academia season 1, it is connected to an anime but is still a bad ass rock song.

yeah ... they're japanese, sing partially in Japanese, and it's rock. Definitely sounds an Anime intro/outro. Same feeling as when I hear Taylor Swift or Guns'n Roses, it just brings up MCU, Terminator and other hollywood fastfood fare. Always hurts a bit when this happens. /facepalm

"The same feeling as when you hear Taylor Swift..?" This staggers the foundation of both comprehension and veracity. Storm, old boy, this is but one song. Band Maid has been around for over 10 years and have more than 130 songs in their quiver. They are a band that is particularly known for diversity in genre usage, stylistic integration and creativity. How many songs in their cannon have you heard? Has it been enough to make general comments about the band's style, originality and technical merit?

I have recorded 5 other reactions of this band to be uploaded, and each song was different, and most were fantastic, I never said that this was an anime band, just that this song reminded me of an anime opening. It was not a criticism of their entire body of work, that would be ridiculous.

It's not that they are Japanese, it's the way the song is written, it lends itself to a Shonen style anime well, but I don't think that all of their music is anime music. As for your western music take, I agree, unfortunately I can't hear immigrant song by led zeppelin without immediately thinking about thor ragnarok now and that does kinda suck.

@@fabledstormreacts57 No offense meant. The "sounds like an anime intro" comment just comes up relatively often, and I just don't hear it on most of their songs. It's "just" rock. They actually did two anime intros and they are notable by the slightly different structure (only the first 90seconds are used for the intro if I'm not mistaken, and the rest of the song is "bonus")

@@fabledstormreacts57 So, Zep's memorable "Immigrant Song" is a touchstone for you. My most memorable Zep moment occurred at the (L.A.) Fabulous Forum during their "Houses of the Holy" tour, as the band was about to begin their fifth encore. In the audience we hear Plant yell: "You've been waiting for it all night! ["It" being "Whole Lotta Love", a passably recent hit at that time]. Here we go!" They did three bars and left the stage. The crowd erupted in a riot, with chairs -- and anything else the audience members could find -- being thrown at the stage. Security and Zep's road crew were battling fans trying to tip over the amps and smash equipment on-stage. It was at this point that my friend and I looked at each other, and said, "Well, it must be time to go!"

Saiki doesn't hate everything but she sure as hell hates this one dude. 10 min. of limp gymnastics. Ouch!
Bonus points to you for mentioning Akane Hirose- world's happiest drummer.
You've stumped your toe against a buried treasure. Hope you get it. Just stretch out your hand and lend an ear.
    P. S. It ain't about YOU

No offense but I am getting tired of the anime comparisons. Yup, they sing in Japanese..this is just a straight ahead hard Rock song. The Maids are the best band on the planet

Personally, I'm always a bit doubtful of the reactor when I see they have stuff in the background that's not really related to the subject they're reacting to. It just seems like some dude wanting to be "in" by reacting to everything under the sun.

You've actually never listen to the song, and I know this because I couldn't hear it myself because of all the talking you did.👎

You need to check out The Warning, 3 sisters from Mexico. I recommend their live performance of "Evolve" from the 2023 MTV VMA's as a good starting point, the audience for the most part had no idea wo they were but they found out in a big way. The studio is still looking for their roof. Then check out just about anything from their Aug. 2022 show at the Teatro Metroplitan CDMX. The entire show is available on YT from start to finish or each song individually and includes their remake of "Enter Sandman" (done at Metallica's request). It's Enter Sandman but, it isn't. Their music videos are great but live is their element.
