    I've recently started gesture drawing and I'm so slow that even when I go fast, I dont finish the drawing. I'm still learning though and taking my art a lot more seriously than I did in the past, and this video actually helped a lot in making me realize what to focus on.
    I'm trying to shorten the timer from 300 seconds, seeing it done in 20 was shocking but I cant wait to try the 20 / 40 timers!

      Sounds great, Alexander! It's cool that you've found your own pace for learning and practicing. It's like training for sports-- start slowly and then begin to work on more challenging things as you progress.

    I loved it! It was so amazing! When I draw, I tend to overthink and therefore my drawings aren't so loose or natural. This challange helped me so much, I didn't have time to think, I just drew by instinct and I'm quite pleased with the results! Thank you so much! :)))

    From my first time watching this, one thing I noticed was how you started the head and the line of action taking place, and just adding, without focusing on details. I used to just draw, what I see, and I would take too much time on each thing, like the head, part of the body, or detail, rather than getting the pose down. This video really does help. and I appreciate you for doing that!

    this is just some note for my myself .
    When doing gesture drawing.The story is added to the paper meaning you dont just copy what the figures doing but essentially translating the story of the pose.This is why gesture drawing is complex more than any fundamental because it need the knowlegde as for story teller.Luckily for artist,The gesture drawing have simpilified by many methodlogy that we can use.Note that it isnt a technic,a stylitic drawing but rather its a component and fundamental to draw the human figure.There are no technic when doing gesture it just depends on you how you want to translate the obejct of you're looking,Not just the human figures(trees,Cloud,or even your everyday object has gesture on it).Its one of the perfect way to communicate.when you're doing this type of gesture try to capture the flow of rhytms of the object rather than capturing the big picture.Its not easy because we tend to go for details.Details will make us feel ease but its not enough to communicate our mind to the paper(story).

    • @jas_bataille
      @jas_bataille 4 года назад +4

      I get the story thing, but I don't think gesture is more complex than other fundamentals. On the opposite, I think that beginners should start with gestures before getting into the specific anatomy, just like babies babble before learnings sounds, words, sentences, etc

    • @winandnikolatesla2021
      @winandnikolatesla2021 4 года назад +1

      Jas Bataille yea i agree . gesture can be simple but complex depends on how you use them as a foundation of the figures. but,if someone learn the academics of art they will see gesture in many different kinds of variations. it includes foreshortening,bending twisting motion,exaggerations and many more. but fear not,gesture isnt gonna come to an end ,it will always be used for any kind of things in art. tbh it takes me a while to get them properly and as i improve the anatomy of my figure . i add variation to my gesture foundation with a C curve at lower for example indicating the tibia.

    Gesture drawing should be the first thing in any art course, after I started, I imediatelly scalled to Figure drawing in less than a week. Only now I'm practicing simple shapes to study shading, and perspective. his video should be the first one on the list

    I have done one and two minute poses before but never 20 seconds. This was surprisingly fun. I am going to do more of the 20 seconds

    Wow, this was rough and a mess on my side. I had an issue trying to make my lines flow. I focus too much on the details even though I’m trying not to and by the time I realize the timer’s up. I can feel these exercises helping, will continue. Thank you.
