Although I’ve already seen those sketches, I took the class, it was still refreshing. That 23 minutes went by super fast though. Dang….another two weeks until the next one….I feel like my life goes by in two weeks increments in between your videos. I know these are tons of work for you and there’s no way to show my gratitude other than to keep taking classes etc…..but…..I miss those 40 minute videos! Thank you so much for everything you do and share with us!
Kym I can't believe you still watched it - I did show it differently than in the class but thanks so much for watching and for taking the class - really means a lot!
Every time you say, "I'll see you back here in 2 weeks", I silently yell, "Noooooo!' How can I wait 2 whole weeks?? I bought 2 of your classes and love them both. If it's stressful to make these videos, you can always do less curated videos. Just set up in a field or by a lake or in your studio, start slapping paint on a canvas and chatting a bit as you go, and most of us would be blissfully happy. I cannot imagine how you juggle work as a full time artist, manage health issues with such a cheerful heart, and edit these gorgeous videos. Thank you, thank you!!
Can't believe you were in Santa Fe. Wish I could have run into you. So much fun to see your sketches of areas I know well. Those pyramid-like mounds at the rest area (looks like the top of La Bajada) are cinder cones formed from volcanic activity many moons ago... and it is "Cross of the Martyrs" in the old Fort Marcy area... The rain that doesn't hit the ground (evaporates), connected to those clouds is called "Virga"... St Francis Cathedral... I've clearly got some videos to catch up on. If you get to visit again Abiqui & Chama are worth the extra time, too. (My favroite part of NM)
i devoured this video !!! ive been watching you create for almost two years and your art has become such a never ending well of inspiration for me. i love the looseness and sense of distance in these paintings! so many of the landscapes you showed felt like i could step inside and walk around in them! thank you for sharing!
@@erinw8149 yes! I feel the same about Sandi's sketches and paintings! So full of life and movement 😁❤💚 fluid and colourful! A real sense of urgency, I can feel that urgency Sandi 😁
Sandi, I cannot say enough how much I love your videos and your art and YOU! You are a simply magical person and it is so generous of you to share so much and I know it is a gift of love. It must be very hard work and the internet is a crazy place and unkind. But I am so grateful that you do what you do. I have been following you for years now, since before Covid, and I feel like you’ve shown me a way forward with my art, Thank you, and take care of yourself, and take time off from the videos if you need it xxxxx
The New Mexico landscape is just magical. I went there in 2011. It's very different to the Australian desert; everything from the colours to the geological structures and the plant life, which is so much more abundant. I spent a week at Los Alamos and 2 weeks in Santa Fe, while my poor husband worked (sucks to be him! 🤣). The Folk Art Museum is beyond amazing. The breadth and quality of the collection blew my mind. For a long time lover of Folk Art and coming from Tasmania, which has a gorgeous wilderness, but not a lot in the way of museums, it was such a treasure. I'm just bowled over by how prolific you are. I think your work ethic and work flow are the envy of artists all over the world. I just loved this video.
Hi Sandi, just want to say I love your videos and love your processes. You are my favourite artist to watch. You are real, and inspire me to keep going. I've never used oil pastels before until i watched you use them in other videos. Wow, I love them, they help me be really loose and have fun. So thank you. Love your work, I get you 😃
Sandi, I want to thank you for sharing your love and passion for painting, as well as your knowledge. Although my style of painting is different than yours, I always watch your channel. I just love to watch your creative flow and enjoy your personality. Whenever I feel like my art is not good enough, you always remind me that it's okay to try it again, and its okay to just play.
Sandi, thank you so much for your caring work. We feel every beautiful ounce of effort, and it makes such a difference in us. I'm off to France and Ireland in 2 days, and all I want to pack is one outfit, some Febreeze, and all my sketchbooks, looms, yarn, paint, and pencils. 😂
Oh Sandi, your sketchbooks are a joy to behold, just beautiful❤️ I love watching you paint too, so thank you for gifting us not only a wonderful sketchbook tour in this video but also a glimpse of you working on that stunning painting at the end, just wonderful🙏🏼
We are in Palo Duro this week in West Texas, camping in our airstream. I have been so overwhelmed by its beauty! The landscape is so gorgeous! But you have encouraged me to paint NOW! ❤️❤️❤️
Fabulous art, oh my gosh, I can’t love it enough. I am definitely going to take the class, I’ve loved all the other ones. Great video Sandi, thank you.
Oh Sandi! I can hardly finish watching your videos because you inspire me to drop everything right away and deep dive into creating. Everything you create is a feast for the eyes and also speaks to what I love about the physicality of art materials. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing what you do.
I absolutely love how you cover the whole stinkin page in your sketchbooks. I struggle so hard with that, ending up with something tiny in the corner and nothing but blank all around.
I have never liked or understood abstract art but I stumbled on to you flower painting from fresh flowers and it helped me to see how abstract art it done. I went to your list and there are several I want to watch as I really enjoyed your trip sketch book. We were there in February and many of the things in your book we had been to and seen also. The black birds are Crows and the really large ones are Ravens. They squawk all the time and are very noisy birds. I LOVE ❤️ YOUR VIDEOS and will be watching more. Thanks for the education of abstract art.
Sandi, if you haven’t been yet, you need to go to Sedona, Arizona. It is an artist heaven. The colors and landscape are magnificent. I have been several times and every time I come home super inspired. Just don’t go in the middle of the summer. By the way, I love your glasses.🤓
I love all of these paintings! The cloud that looked like a paw that the rain was pouring out of was most likely a Cumulonimbus cloud. They usually produce Thunderstorms. The clouds that are hung up by the mountains are sometimes Lenticular Clouds. They look like a contact lens or a UFO. I am a weather observer. I love your paintings of the clouds. I lived in Colorado for most of my life. The Western skies just have that beautiful blue that makes the sky look very large. I'm glad you guys had a great time in New Mexico.
Yaaaay! Thank the Goddess it's Friday 😁 Sandi Friday ❤ loved your sketchbooks tour Sandi! So many sketches to love and they look like so much fun! You brightened my day and the sun is shining in my window 🪟
Hello Sandi❤! I purchased your class last week and I AM SO in LOVE with the way you show us the demo! So So helpful, especially the part with „ trust the process“! I have ordered the Daniel Smith watercolour sticks and hope they will arrive before I`m on vacay in the Netherlands! I wish you a great weekend and say hello to Grady😊
I love the painting with the view of the city. It looks like there is so much to paint there. An artist could easily get ovewhelmed. It's wonderful looking through these sketches. Better than photographs.
Sandi, I lived in NM for 10 years and you definitely captured the essence of the landscape there. I would drive every Sunday up the Turquoise Trail to have lunch in Santa Fe, stopping at Madrid along the way. It would be therapeutic to drive that highway and be with the land, the sky, and those clouds! Those marvelous clouds!
My two favorites are the church and the landscape from a large sketchbook that is full of color with purple at the bottom. Many of them are wonderful ! Keep Going ! I'm inspired and on this bus ! 😂😍 ~ Kathy C.
Thank you Sandi! I will eventually purchase your older landscape class and I’m really looking forward to the experience. Your videos inspire me to get paint on my hands. I love the idea of non-dominant hand painting!!!
The beautiful church you painted is the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. It was built from 1869-1886 and is the mother Catholic Church of the southwest. Quite beautiful inside too. A focal point as one walks around Santa Fe.
As always Sandi you are so inspiring! I went to Arizona in the spring and the views you captured reminded me so much of that trip. The expansive views, especially those crazy rain storms in the desert, made me want to stop right there and paint. One of the problems I had though was we were with other people and I felt bad if I stopped to draw and somewhat shy when they saw what I was painting-not exactly gallery type art! I took lots of photos though and now am going to go back and paint/sketch from those beautiful memories! I know these videos are so much work and I want to express my gratitude for all that you share with us and the time it takes to create such amazing content. 😊
Such a fascinating and colorful landscape, so inspiring! I had to take a screenshot when you had that red booklet open to the label. It’s Kunst & Papier, and they have a bunch of different options. It looks like on English-language sites that one is just called a staple-bound booklet and it comes in a few colors. It looks very portable.
I’d love to capture my travels in a sketchbook. Now that I’ve found you a d your style I think I’ll give it a a whirl. When I see your work, I get in spired to just go and make marks. Thank you
Another comment. The Santa Fe Mountains are part of the Rocky Mountains and this Santa Fe section is called Sangre de Cristo. This translates to blood of Christ and is so named due to the often vivid red colors at sunrise and sunset. The Spanish named these mountains. I love seeing these as we drive to Santa Fe. ❤
Man oh man i love getting a peek inside your marvellous sketchbooks Sandi! Thank you so much for the inspiration! I really want to get myself a treat soon and get one of your classes, to start with, I’m wondering which is the one where you show us how to get that yummy texture you get on your pieces?
Hey Sandi, I‘m planing to buy one of your courses but I cannot find out the main difference between taking notes in a landscape and memories of a landscape. I feel as they were very similar. Could you give me a hint so I can decide 🙏 lots of love from Germany 😘

I agree - they definitely help capture the bigness of the place
