i mean I can be pretty ironic, I know irony is considered a big part of like "Brooklyn fashion" but i wouldn't be surprised if in the next two years we see people taking an interest in like "heritage" fashion again, kind of swinging away from irony.
Its a thin line, one that my brains probably too small to figure out. With Hedi it can sometimes feel like a lack of self awareness, but constant irony can be corrosive and disingenuous. I think that, if these 20's are anything like the 1920s, which they're weirdly shaping up to be, a "modernist" impulse might sweep through culture.
Agree in many cases, and it's not necessarily a bad thing! (more later) In some cases, however, I think the choice to step off the fashion cycle and commit to something unironic for the long haul is a deliberate, self aware decision. I think Hedi falls into this category because he is so adamantly reticent to change, despite a sea of critics who make a living swimming in meta. He must see what is happening around him - he just chooses to do what he wants. The lack of self awareness, I think, is more for the non-"fashion" people who like a look and stick with it unironically. There are not self aware in the sense that they don't think about post-modern ironic fashion - and that's ok, because not fashioning is ok. Good point, and thanks for challenging me to think!
I feel like they're getting better i wasn't sure when I was working on this one - kind of felt like it was going off the rails but I'm glad to hear you enjoyed! I guess it's obvious but the more you make videos the better you get.
and in all likelihood...he always will. It was certainly novel when he first did it (dior) and it was fun, even if played out at SLP - now?? well idk but like I said I give him some slack to be an "artist" and continue his vision.
this make me feel dumb im not in college yet but i hope everyone there is as intelligent as u cus its intriguing n i hope to one day also be among individuals like yourself
i had to rewind n let things make sense but i think i understood everything, i rly enjoy these videos n hope u make more as i feel like i have something to take away after watching that i can later apply to bettering/developing myself as an individual
also regarding the end, i agree that these 20s are eerily similar to the 1920s but im not sure everyone will want to 'get serious' i think it may become kinda popular amongst some who dont want irony in unstable times but i think some will choose irony still because of the opposite, times will be unstable so ppl will want to be distracted with fantasies n fun ideas so they may lean more towards less serious looks.. idk
The irony is the designer is not a musician and the musicians whom have inspired him were, essentially anti establishment which high fashion is the pinnacle of!
Hey TLobster, I would think you were a phony if you didn't call me out on it. Yeah I was looking at my little teleprompter too much it's something I either have to iron out or just rely on bullet points. Appreciate the honesty I was (kind of) hoping someone would say something bc I thought that was the weakest part of this vid - strongest part being my great singing that totally isn't an immediate turn off.
Loving the political background
hope I'm not being TOO EDGY with my political posters I guess I'll have to put up some right wing signs for next video to even it out.
Mf in his doomsday prepper bunker
as long as I stay in my fashion bunker the virus cant reach me...
You look like a much more attractive Hedi Slimane
thank you syre I need that kind of confidence boost
Irony will always be a big part of fashion. Because alot of our stuff that we wear day to day is pretty ironic.
i mean I can be pretty ironic, I know irony is considered a big part of like "Brooklyn fashion" but i wouldn't be surprised if in the next two years we see people taking an interest in like "heritage" fashion again, kind of swinging away from irony.
for me, i don't like spending loads of money on something silly (ironic). that's what thrift stores are for...
the lack or irony shows a lack of self awareness almost. Nice vid as always

Hedi still makes clothes for stick figures

gotta love when content creators in every literally every sphere have to subtly push a political narrative, genuinely makes my skin crawl

Christian you put a smile on my face. Well done
beautiful intro
thank you wow, i really just needed someone to validate my singing bc I know I've got a hit single in me if I can just get discovered.
@@BraveNewWear hoping for an album post lockdown
irony is going to die, truthfulness and sincerity is what the 20's (2020's) will be about...my prediction
time to get real, get serious, be genuine, and honestly I think the cultural tides might be pointing in that direction.
You look like a male Emma Chamberlain.
Another wonderful, insightful, entertaining video. Thanks, Christian you are making these quarantined times bearable.
awesome vid.
only thing i would try to improve is you looking more at the camera and less at the script
