Fun fact 🎉 Hanyu (his family name) means feather/wings-born in Japanese Kanji. And his given name Yuzuru means "tie the bowstring" or specifically his dad meant it to mean "bowstring" as he wish his son to live a dignified life like a tightly drawn bowstring ❤

When I saw Yuzu's first performance there was this instant "This is his passion not a job" kind of feeling like he made you feel the love he has for his sport and what he wanted to convey with his programme. I almost never watch sorts but his didnt feel like a competition it felt like something raw and personal.......i dont know how to say it but it felt sincere

I’ve only just discovered Yuzuru myself, and I am ADDICTED! He will definitely go down in history as the most influential skater of all time.
“He looks young!” …Yuzuru was the YOUNGEST male skater to win an Olympic gold medal since the year 1948. (He was gold medalist twice: ages 19 and 23.) He was also the first-ever male skater from Japan to win ANY medal.
Yuzuru broke 19 world records! At the Olympics, they even had to ADD an additional higher level to the skate judging categories, because he was the FIRST-ever male skater to perform quadruple jumps in the competitions. (So quadruple jumps are now a permanent part of the Olympic judging categories because of him.)
PLUS, he is a genuinely good, kind, big-hearted person: Right now, he’s preparing a huge three-night-only show… Proceeds will go to aid ongoing recovery from a 7.2 earthquake that took place in Japan when he was a teenager.

I hope you react to his accident in China because the way he responded goes BEYOND a sport or artistry. It is an example on how to face life. One of the main reasons Chinese fans embraced him since then. He earned their respect. For being Japanese and having such tensions between countries he did something unheard of.

Hello he has retired only from competition! He is doing amazingly producing his solo Ice Story filling the arenas all by himself! he is free now and having fun performing various new things like he did with Camina Burana during #Nottestellata2024 for the 3.11 anniversary and we'll have the extra leg of #RE_PRAY in early april!
He never stopped and is training hard More than in competition!
