    Hello Paul,
    I’ve learnt a ton about shooting with DSLR from your channel. You really provide the best tips and tutorials any beginner or pro would always appreciate...
    I’d utterly appreciate it if you could touch on exposure metering and also a little bit more between evaluative/matrix and spot metering modes; which is more consistently useful to a photographer who’s concerned with not blowing out their backgrounds, Paul.

    Hii Paul!
    I'm a beginner in photography and I find your videos quite useful thanks for that! I have couple of problems about getting sharp images. I would like to get your opinion about couple of photos that I've taken. Can you help me with that?

  • @thomasmoje5926
    @thomasmoje5926 4 года назад +1

    I'm used to manual focus/manual exposure 35mm film SLR's. Recently acquired a Fujifilm X100F digital camera. Still use it in manual focus/manual exposure setting mode 90% of the time primarily due to habit. The only time I set it for 'auto everything' mode is for when I know I might not have time to fiddle with focusing/exposure settings (like candids at a party or something) or when I ask somebody who is not familiar with manually-operating cameras to take my photo. And generally the auto focus images taken with my X100F are in equally sharp focus as if I focused it manually myself. However yesterday I was reminded to let the autofocus mechanism readjust..took a shot of a friend, didn't like the pose and took another quick shot immediately and that shot was not in satisfactory focus. Lesson? You do have to allow a brief bit of time for the camera to readjust focus..press the shutter button lightly, wait very briefly for the 'beep' indicating proper focus, then take the shot.

    Hi Paul, What a great channel, you seem to explain things so that anyone new to photography ( like me,) can still understand, keep up the good work, thank you !
    I've just bought a Canon 800D ( I'm from the UK ) and as previously mentioned extremely new to photography and DSLR's especially ... could you please tell me if there is a digital ( or optical for that matter ) zoom facility on my new 800D for "pictures" ? I can find it for the video but not for taking pictures ?
    Thanks in anticipation ... Jimmy

    • @photogenius
      @photogenius  Год назад

      Hi James. On the back of the camera you will find two small round buttons (top right) that have blue magnifying glass icons under them. These buttons can be used to Digitally "zoom in" when reviewing images or using Live View.
      Note that when taking photos the zoom function does not affect the end result (only the zoom on the lens itself can do that), so it is most commonly used as a way to check focus.
      Hope that helps and thanks for watching and supporting my channel.

      Yes. Some lenses do not offer auto focus. This is kinda rare these days but I bought a telephoto lens and to save money on it, since it's not a lens type I use much, I got one with manual focus only and it was much cheaper.

    I get an impression that manual focus is way to go with kit kenses since they do give you decent quality photos or if you're pro on other high quality lenses depending on what you need. Auto focus is way to go with high quality lenses and thos can if i'm not mistaken improve image quality even on entrly level dslrs like cannon eos 2000d.
