Hi Ken, this lock down is awful and we aren't as far down the track as you and other countries are yet. That badge took a bit of work alright, thanks and all the best 👍🙂
Tip: having successfully employed wet and dry on a number of plastic and Bakelite cases, I use water in a dish (not flowing) and put a drop or two of washing up detergent into the water. Hi David years ago I could have built up the gears by brazing, but I don’t have access to oxy-acetylene gear any longer. There are a couple of firms over here who specialise in small gears so I will have to examine their catalogues to see if anything might be suitable. Cheers Lynton.

When a valve is low emission it usually a striped cathode. The cathode is coated with chemicals to aid emission over time this is striped off. Also some time called a soft valve If you strip off a valve you won’t see this the chemicals the cathode are toxic. Great work I enjoy watching
Hi ajhnubia, when this valve showed no sign of life under test I expected to see a hard fault. The cathode stripping seems to be the common explanation I'm getting, thanks 🙂
During the Eighties and Nineties, nearly every pre/post-war console that I came across couldn't be given away, they seemed to not have value. I ran EMS back then, and had to transport someone to a nursing home from a hospital. I began offering them for their social areas/dayrooms/whichever, and placed eleven over those two decades. Edit: I've been thinking/brain farting: "How to build a Kriesler", deserves its own video.

Hi D. ilic, thank you 😀
Neat Restoration.
Thank you JK Hammill 😀
Gorgeous! Great work, thanks for posting!
Hi Jac, thanks for watching and your comment 😀
Fantastic David! Avant.
Thank you Flávio 😀
I really like the look of this radio, and you did a great job on the finish! Such a unique design. Hope you and your family are well in this strange time.
Hi Brian, thank you. We are all well at this stage thank you. I hope the same for you 👍😀
Замечательная работа. Девид вы как всегда на высоте.
Большое спасибо Radio Power 👍😀
Outstanding work David. Scared me to death when the spanner slipped whilst tightening one of the studs, thought the case had gone!
Great persistence in casting the badge. Fancy having a go at some Hallicrafters gears? Lol.
Best wishes from The UK and stay safe.
Lynton
Thank you Lynton, I didn't do them up tight, I backed them off a touch as well. Good luck with the gears, could you use bronze to repair them? Cheers 😀
Oh, and stay safe too Lynton 👍🙂
Hi David years ago I could have built up the gears by brazing, but I don’t have access to oxy-acetylene gear any longer. There are a couple of firms over here who specialise in small gears so I will have to examine their catalogues to see if anything might be suitable. Cheers Lynton.
Great Job David, Such a neat radio. Keep it up.
Thanks John, one of my favorites 👍🙂
Fantastic result.
thank you migsven surfing 😀
As always, a brilliant demonstration of skilled craftsmanship, patience , determination and dedication. . My better half caught me watching your presentation, which usually means some discomfort and induced guilt heading my way at the speed of light, but joyfully, on this occasion, she was stopped in her tracks at the sight of the Beehive Radio.. She actually loves it, and would like to own it... Please feel highly complimented by her enthusiasm and my escape, (on this occasion), from a fearful retribution.. Keep well & safe Dave.. 🥴
Hi Pete, Thank you and my Beehive is honored by your wife's enthusiasm. My wife is particularly drawn to this one and has suggested prominent places to display it in our home, go figure. We are safe and well for now, I hope it is the same for you 😀
@@DavidTipton101 Thank you Dave.. It's slightly worrying to know that your better half is also into 'hive' identity syndrome. Best to keep your powder dry on this one. As for my safety and well being..I'm sure you're now aware that I'm walking a tightrope that has a candle burning away underneath it. On the brighter side, at least the government haven't shut down the 'bottle' shops...🤪🤪
@@pda49184 The bottle shops are open here too as they are regarded as an essential service 🍻
Nice looking radio. Job well done David. I love how you did the badge. I am glad you decided not to paint it. 73 Joe
Hello Joe, I wasn't going to paint it, I could see the case was OK, and it would have looked hideous if I had 😲 Thanks Joe 🙂
You are a master, well done, enjoy your posts. Best wishes from Perth.
Thank you Junior. I love Perth, all the best 😀
Brilliant Dave, really enjoyed watching all your hard work. My nerves were in bits when you were doing the badge. I just know if I had attempted that I would have been covered from head to toe in goo. Great stuff mate.
HI Dave, the badge came out great and I'm happy I painted it gold, it stands out and lifts the look of the radio. All the best Dave 😀
Great restore!
Hi Andrew, thank you 😀
Excellent job. Well worth all the work you put into it!
Hi Troy, thank you, it does look fantastic 😀
When a valve is low emission it usually a striped cathode.
The cathode is coated with chemicals to aid emission over time this is striped off.
Also some time called a soft valve
If you strip off a valve you won’t see this the chemicals the cathode are toxic.
Hi AMStationEngineer, it's still hard to find new homes for consoles, your solution was outstanding, well done 👍😀
Great job david very good you٫re a doctor🌹 😊👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏☕
Thank you Bachir Khatat 👨⚕️😀
I love the pictures at the beginning! Nice video!
Thanks BP Projects 😀
@@DavidTipton101 Hey no problem! Keep up the great work! You really are doing a fantastic job!
That looks amazing!
Thanks Klave 😃
Excellent job on the case and emblem. Keep up the great work!
Hi Tim, thank you 😀
Beautiful! Oh, the 40's..... Thanks!
Hi John, thank you. It would look right at home in the 40s 😀
@@DavidTipton101 David, I think you are singularly saving the world from the loss of beautiful, functional art! Lots of memories with every piece.
@@johnwelch557 Thank you John, there are quite a few others doing it too thankfully
