    I know this video is almost 7 years old but got an 05 red lgt and its an excellent everyday driver while still having fun. Adding coil overs and lowering it made it the best car I've ever owned. You won't see another car on the road like yours. At 110k miles and still loving the car

      Yeah, just found a super clean '05 gt with like 125kmi and just super nice.. its an auto with i believe the paddle shifters on the wheel.. going to look at it tomorrow.. might have to get this instead of the '08 gti or the '08 Mazdaspeed3 i had been looking at, not sure yet..

    Bought my 2005 legacy GT limited used, dear GOD I had to rebuild almost the entire engine. The car was not modified(but was abused and neglected). New turbo spool, valve cover, new fuel line, new radiator, timing belt, water pump, head gasket, radiator hose. Needed ac work. After $3500 on parts the car was good as new. My next turbo Subaru would be new, I would never do that again.

    I know this video is old and I have watched it many times. I truly appreciate your enthusiasm! My first viewing was prior to purchasing my 05lgt wagon 5mt. This video really helped inspire me with the decision to buy the car. I've had it almost two years now and I don't believe ill ever sell it. It doesn't bother me that no one knows what it is when they see it on the street. The car is mine and for my enjoyment only. I often drive with passion and had done some pretty stupid things right in front of cops and they didn't even notice. Under the radar, cheap insurance, reliable performance! What more could you ask for? Thanks for the great video!

    good job man, sub'd. Referred here by a friend who watches your channel. I picked up an '05 LGT Ltd a couple months ago, 1-owner, stick, bone stock, really clean. 100k miles with maintenance done and a new clutch, and had to pay a bit of a premium for it at $9400, but totally worth it. The car serves as my winter beater / alternate and I couldn't be happier. Just a great, great all-around car to drive. I needed something that I wouldn't hate driving when I wasn't in my bmw, and this car just has it all for that. The turbo provides enough torque for daily driving purposes, shifting feels good, and really just floats down the road nicely.
    I second the notion that if you can find one of these that is clean, just buy it. No disappointment to be had here.

    • @ThatWasherNerd
      @ThatWasherNerd 3 года назад

      @Noah Maddox Predictably, the previous owner tuned it too aggressively, so after about 5 months of ownership, I was the unfortunate victim of ringland failure. I sold the car "as is" for $3k, and I am now driving a 2012 Infiniti G37x. If you can find one close to stock, it's a great buy. The 2012 also fixed a lot of the reliability issues from the 2005. I would definitely say go for it, and if you are planning on tuning it, definitely get the cylinder 4 cooling mod. That would have saved my engine: shop.getadomtune.com/shop.getadomtune.com/cylinder-4-chamber-cooling-system/

Unfortunately the aftermarket support is low but, for those looking into buying a LGT.... the 2008-2014 wrx is very similar to 05-09 LGT's. PS. LGT wagons only offered 5sp auto trans I wish my wagon LGT was a manual.

    I just bought an '05 get spec b a couple of months ago. Awesome car. Are all spec bs manual? Mine is and has full leather interior. It's only done 108000kms in excellent condition for its age. All subarus are common here in New Zealand. Gts are everywhere and spec bs can be found quite easily but not with kilometres as low as mine. I paid $11,300 nz dollars. Most are closer to 15k here. Great car and great review. Thanks.

    COOL Review: 2005 Subaru Legacy GT

  • @Snakeplisskin440
    @Snakeplisskin440 9 лет назад

    They're definitely rare. I ended up buying an '11 Legacy 3.6R because I couldn't find any GT's without having 100k miles on it already. I wanted this car to be something to last a couple of years. I was looking at B.Specs and those are even more rare. I've actually only seen one GT in real life but I've seen quite a few WRX's. My gas mileage is similar but I pay for regular and not premium. It's comfortable, quiet, cushy seats. Only downside, no clutch. Only flappy paddles tied to a semi-quick 5 Speed Auto. I have to admit though. The older GT's have a cool style. Same goes for the '02 WRX Wagons in blue. I drive past a sedan one every day that hasn't rusted up yet and all I can think is, "Wow, it's majestic." Haha.

    I own one of these cars. it was completely stock besides an aftermarket cobb short ram intake. I've added invidia turboback and catless downpipe and uppipe with a grimspeed ebc and a protune so it is now stage two. despite what this guy says you can reach 60mph in second gear before redlining. love because it's more of a luxury sleeper. bought mine at 100k miles and at a price of 13k. love the car. AWD is awesome in the snow. And it is more rare then wrx and sti because subaru didn't make as many and now has stopped producing them in the US market. I also upgraded the clutch with a lightweight flywheel so the shifting is even smoother than it was when I first got it.

    Someone else probably already said this, but the 2005 LGT Limiteds didn't have a nav system in that upper cubby hole. Or maybe it was optional? Our '05 LGT Limited has no nav system.

    Another car that is rare in the US but very common here. A manual from 2005 with this KM's would go for about $11,000 here, that'd be about $7,500 USD at the current exchange rate - which is a massive bargain - but as pointed out, finding one that has been looked after is the problem, because they are so cheap many of the people who now own them don't look after them. On the plus side parts are plentiful and cheap here.

      +Brandon H Im looking at reviews of this car and they say its a lemon. do you agree? the reviews I read said it rattles alot. do you recommend the 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Limited as a first car?

    • @brandonhoun
      @brandonhoun 8 лет назад

      +jtmoney091 It didn't have much rattle sounds. Basically, if you maintain it, it should be fine. The wind noise is loud for this car. Mostly in older Subarus, you have check the OIL! ...and the oil feed line leading to the turbo has a filter in it. Check, clean or throw it out, it will get clogged and starve the turbo. Keep the oil clean, change it like it's no one's business. Your first car can be any car if you maintain it. Research it and know your car regardless if it's a WRX, STI, or Legacy GT.

    • @jtmoney091
      @jtmoney091 8 лет назад

      +Brandon H thanks man. one more question. the 2005 Subaru legacy gt limited im looking at has 107,000 miles on it for $5500 on craigslist. do you think I am going to run into a lot of problems with the high mileage on the car?

    • @brandonhoun
      @brandonhoun 8 лет назад

      +jtmoney091 Do a full maintenance check on it if you plan to buy. Carfax and then have a trusty mechanic check everything including engine VIN number if it matches the rest of the car. Older cars with similar engine and chassis tend mix parts. 100k miles isn't that high but it's due for a full maintenance/inspection.
