This is the day I always tell people about. I was at Main Beach in the afternoon ... I swear the size increased from midday, and the wind died down ... it was pure glass with massive sets rolling in. Thanks for the vid, and proof of the memories!
@@davidschindewolf do you guys measure the face or the back? often when coastal watch says 3ft, you could stand inside the wave if it was barrelling... if its off the face some of these are easily 10foot.. easily
This is the most fantastic surf video I have ever seen! I have probably watched it 50 times over the past year. The photography is great. The music is perfect. And the two are edited together superbly. Congratulations and thanks.
im a beginner from peru........i was thinking in give up, but after seen this vid im so pump up and ready to go back to the beach...........thanks bro, cool place.
i miss good old burliegh barrels, burliegh was my first barrrel right out in the cove section i was stoked..........i still remember it as if was yesterday. it was great when the old goldy pub was across the road $5 meals with a beer and the old pit"play room, up at palmy surf all day and talk about surfing all night ,,,,,
Great editing dude.....opening waves a killer....over there `88-90...good people good waves....surfed Burleigh at nite on a half moon once will never forget it....Cheers from Mt Maunganui...!
Burleigh had one of the most classic Burleigh Barrels yesterday. ot huge but just perfect. The waves go for a kilometre then reform at North Burleigh. Amazing to watch from the Beachfront Bar. People overseas would pay a million dollars to sit and have a beer in such a gorgeous spot and have a drink.
I was there a week before this and it was going off, it was my first time there and I was super impressed with the break. Great vid mate. Those were some solid waves.
Hey Francois you can find the track on iTunes searching for Alf Tic Too or other tracks here open.spotify.com/artist/2t0atkFvudLvJmYS0ExJMc?si=iR-zd5v7SFyRia8H2lhX0g
killer video mate, amazing day captured really well! brings back so many memories of the 5 years i spent in oz and the year on the goldie. awesome waves, weather and lifestyle. top country and fantastic people, i'd say to anyone if you get the chance to visit go for it. landlocked in the uk and missing the waves, my oz mates and the tooheys pils.
sneakingmilk depends on where you are measuring from in Australia (where I'm from) we tend to measure waves by the back side of them instead of the face but you are entitled to your own opinion. not trying to start an argument just saying what i think
LOL at the measure waves by the backside BS. Yeah like that is how you measure a wave. It's the face of the wave that is measured. These waves were consistent 6-8 foot over head with the occasional 10 foot sets.
@keroseen73 Thanks so much for watching. And for your awesome comments. Stay in touch and come and have a beer if you ever get back here. Cheers mate. Fantastic to get such nice feedback. I'm in my 40's and a soul surfer myself. Love to surf and have a few beers afterwards. Take care! geoff.
Apparently, Australians use Hawaiian scale to define wave height, which measures the back side of the wave instead of the face and is usually roughly half the face size. That measurement will more closely match buoy readings.
Thanks mate. You can get the song on iTunes if you do the search, "Alf tic toc" Let me know if you can't find it and I'll organise to get the track to you. Alf is my best mate. He's still playing, mainly around the Sunshine Coast in Qld, Australia. And yes he surfs MAD! cheers - Geoff Charters.
Itunes won't let me download it. It's only available on the NZ iTunes store and my itunes will only allow me to download from the Canadian store. I'd love to have it to put on my playlist!
Geoff thanks for the response I'm surprised at the low number of views yours is one of the best clips out there old midget farrelly fan from Hawaii here apologies for the Margie's remark of course Australia's a huge continent
When they say 6-8 he either is talking about the backs of the wave or the swell must have been like 6-8 ft at 20 seconds in deepwater (30+ ft), when wave periods are further apart, their energy stretches further down than normal, and wave periods of about 20 seconds become twice the size on shallow water than what they were in deep water. I agree, you should call a waves size by how big it is in shallow water, but this may just have been the forecast.
@liltaz123456 I'm a local burleigh surfer as well, and I shot this all at the point at burleigh. First shot is a big wide from top of burleigh hill. Zoomed in and shot the view of surfers at the same location. Which is the shot at 1:27.
@iillyyia bro, he's measuring waves the way they're supposed to be judged from the back not the face... i'm a grom and i know that. don't offend the dude just cuz you've never been out of the states.
@ShazzyxAus I shot that from the Burleigh National Park. Go up the steps on the northside and it is the first lookout with a chair. Definitely is from Burleigh. Geoff...
@thomasvermeersch Thanks mate. Try Griffith University Gold Coast, and Bond University. Both are very big. Also Southern Cross University is about 5 minutes from superbank. cheers. geoff
Thanks Lance. That's awesome. Yea I just laugh off the negative comments about the sound track. He's actually a good mate of mine who wrote and sings it.
@thomasvermeersch UQ in Brisbane a great uni. griffith and bond are fine to but they dont do the real fraterenity house thing at those. while in brisbane, the university of queensland has like kings and leos if you're into that sort of thing. brisbane isnt far from the gold coast btw.
@Llama4295 Only appears the look like that because they are bending their knees. Say the average person is around 5'9, when they bend their knees cut off a foot or so.
@tommyboyce the song is awesome... what gives you the right to say something like that about a song just because it's not of your taste... Think about how the artist feels when he sees that comment.... Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to put it down like that for everyone to see.. Because there are loads of people who think the songs amazing... In my opinion you are bang out of order with that comment
@TropicalSurfing Yea I shot this video. I was there. I live 5 minutes from Burleigh on the Gold Coast, Australia. I went to go for a surf and decide to shoot it instead. I'm a filmmaker. And a surfer.
@taazzyy Hi mate. Download itunes if you don't already have it. Go to the itunes store. Search for "tic toc." Artist name is ALF. It's about $1.69. Thanks mate for watching. I'm seeing quite a few at 10', no?

Burleigh. Considered one of the best point breaks in the world.
Hey Geoff it's a shame that clip doesn't go for 30 min instead of 3 mins-been watching it for 3+ years & never get sick of it-super👍

Those waves are way bigger than 6-8 ft
no they are under 6-8 ft if anything
