@@davidschindewolf do you guys measure the face or the back? often when coastal watch says 3ft, you could stand inside the wave if it was barrelling... if its off the face some of these are easily 10foot.. easily

sneakingmilk depends on where you are measuring from in Australia (where I'm from) we tend to measure waves by the back side of them instead of the face but you are entitled to your own opinion. not trying to start an argument just saying what i think

LOL at the measure waves by the backside BS. Yeah like that is how you measure a wave. It's the face of the wave that is measured. These waves were consistent 6-8 foot over head with the occasional 10 foot sets.
Burleigh. Considered one of the best point breaks in the world.
This is the day I always tell people about. I was at Main Beach in the afternoon ... I swear the size increased from midday, and the wind died down ... it was pure glass with massive sets rolling in.

the song is awesome... what gives you the right to say something like that about a song just because it's not of your taste... Think about how the artist feels when he sees that comment.... Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to put it down like that for everyone to see.. Because there are loads of people who think the songs amazing...

When they say 6-8 he either is talking about the backs of the wave or the swell must have been like 6-8 ft at 20 seconds in deepwater (30+ ft), when wave periods are further apart, their energy stretches further down than normal, and wave periods of about 20 seconds become twice the size on shallow water than what they were in deep water. I agree, you should call a waves size by how big it is in shallow water, but this may just have been the forecast.

Oh well I guess if everyone loves the song then the artist won't feel so bad about one person not digging it. Having said that, I guess I was a bit rash or untactful and for that I apologize. i miss good old burliegh barrels,
burliegh was my first barrrel right out in the cove section i was stoked..........i still remember it as if was yesterday. it was great when the old goldy pub was across the road $5 meals with a beer and the old pit"play room, up at palmy surf all day and talk about surfing all night ,,,,,
@thomasvermeersch UQ in Brisbane a great uni. griffith and bond are fine to but they dont do the real fraterenity house thing at those. while in brisbane, the university of queensland has like kings and leos if you're into that sort of thing. brisbane isnt far from the gold coast btw.
In NZ we measure from the back of the wave 4 ft wave 8 ft face ......6th wave double over head so 8ft wave here is about triple over head , im just saying thats all.
i t looks 3 to 4 foot .... the HYPE is always good but the footage say's it all!
@liltaz123456 I'm a local burleigh surfer as well, and I shot this all at the point at burleigh. First shot is a big wide from top of burleigh hill. Zoomed in and shot the view of surfers at the same location. Which is the shot at 1:27.

if the guy is roughly 6ft the wave should be no more than 2ft bigger than him but its more like bigger than twice the size of them, why do people not understand measurements??????
who's the oneill rider? in california we would call this 8-10 occ 12, I'm not sure how you aussies rate it but it would seem you are somewhere in between real and hawaiian scale

@69calds I was out that day, some of those faces were closer to 16 foot. The measurements of waves are ridiculously inaccurate and measuring from the back isn't helping that!
@Llama4295 Only appears the look like that because they are bending their knees. Say the average person is around 5'9, when they bend their knees cut off a foot or so.

+tony davies Yeah, either those surfers are really short or those are some big waves.
These waves are Consistent overhead waves 6-8 foot with occasional 10 foot sets. And no, waves aren't measured by the back, the FACE of the wave, the front is the height of the wave, from top to bottom from highest to lowest point.
